[15:57:50] MitchCapper: dekarl fixed port is better for the services api ;0
[16:18:44] dekarl: MitchCapper: on the frontend? does it really matter? I agree for the master backend where the ip/port may be configured in some mobile device/vpn/firewall situation
[16:44:44] cbovy (cbovy!~cbovy@212.84.139.221) has quit (Remote host closed the connection)
[17:34:46] MitchCapper: dekarl if you want to remote control the frontend thats done with the service API your software could always query the backend to find the frontends info, but say a frontend restarted your program may not know to re-query it
[17:52:55] dekarl: MitchCapper: you make me lookup how all this SSDP stuff is supposed to work ;) IIRC a restarting frontend will actively and loudly announce its presence on the network
[17:53:40] dekarl: but you are right. static values make life of consumers easier, sometimes
[17:54:30] MitchCapper: it might, but in theory 3rd party apps at this point should only be using the service API and it doesnt support any sort of push/notification service so an app would just have to consistently pole the backend for changes otherwise
[17:57:01] gedakc (gedakc!~gedakc@d162-157-118-249.abhsia.telus.net) has quit (Quit: Ex-Chat)
[18:00:10] dekarl: MitchCapper: obviously a static port helps with bookmarks to the frontend webfrontend remote control. Maybe that will be improved some time, so it can be used nicely on mobiles / tablets instead of a remote control app
[18:01:36] MitchCapper: its not too bad on mobile right now as its just buttons, except for the fact several dont work very well:) hopefully once my PR for better key bind support is in there I can update it.

[20:27:58] MitchCapper: so its about the size you are transcoding to, but the samples i was working with were all 1920x0180 to start, and while the aspect is preserved throughout only happy multiples seem to make the deinterlacer happy
