[13:47:08] jr3us: tgm4883: apologies for the noise on -users. I did an update/dist-upgrade, and had no new version of mythtv was installed. Also, I noticed a raspberrypi-firmware package, tried to install it, and I get a message about /boot/firmware not mounted.
[13:52:55] tgm4883: jr3us: just took a look, looks like there hasn't been a mythtv commit since the 17th
[13:53:00] tgm4883: for 0.28
[13:55:16] tgm4883: stuarta: ah that's right. I need a fixes/0.28 branch. It's been awhile since the last release I had forgotted
[13:55:18] tgm4883: Let me fix that
[13:55:21] jr3us: I am not getting the openmax choice either. Were the armhf packages built with openmax?
[13:56:09] tgm4883: jr3us: they need a rebuild, which would only happen automatically when there is a new commit, which hasn't happened in the fixes/0.28 branch since the 17th
[13:56:17] tgm4883: I'm looking if there is an easy way to rebuild this
[13:56:20] jr3us: i see
[13:56:27] jr3us: thanks
[13:56:44] stuarta: tgm4883: worst case we update a readme or similar

[13:57:50] tgm4883: stuarta: ok, new branch for 0.28 for mythbuntu theme
[13:58:13] stuarta: right
[13:59:49] stuarta: erm there already is one?
[13:59:57] tgm4883: stuarta: yea there isn't an easy way for me to do a manual build and push to that PPA
[14:00:35] tgm4883: I think the readme update would be the best
[14:00:59] tgm4883: stuarta: I just created the 0.28 branch for mythbuntu theme
[14:01:44] stuarta: if you can create the branch, surely you can commit the triggering update?
[14:02:37] tgm4883: stuarta: doubtful? the mythtv theme stuff gets pushed directly to github
[14:03:17] tgm4883: I can push packaging stuff, so maybe I can push stuff to the mythtv repo on alcor, but I've never tried
[14:04:00] stuarta: themes are hosted purely on github, there are no other hosting points
[14:04:26] stuarta: and the theme packager will automatically pickup the theme updates every 12hrs i think it is
[14:05:35] tgm4883: yes. Are we talking about two different things then? The update I need is for mythtv code in fixes/0.28. There haven't been any new builds because there haven't been any new commits since the 17th. This is a different issue from the theming question
[14:05:50] stuarta: right, you confused me :)
[14:05:54] tgm4883: ah ok
[14:06:05] tgm4883: let me continue investigating to see if I can manually build this there
[14:07:22] tgm4883: actually, I think I can push a build, I just need to be careful with the versioning
[14:07:37] stuarta: well i've located a trivial fix i can push
[14:07:49] tgm4883: stuarta: that works too :)
[14:10:00] jr3us: stuarta, tgm4883: thank you much!
[14:10:57] stuarta: done
[14:12:34] tgm4883: stuarta: thanks
[14:12:50] tgm4883: jr3us: I just restarted the autobuild script, so there should be a build in a few hours

[19:19:24] peterbennett: I am working on fixing CEC for the raspberry pi. Anybody know anything about the CEC code? There seem to be some mistakes in how threads are handled unless I am mistaken.
[19:25:58] gedakc: peterbennett: I have not used CEC, but have some experience with LIRC if that would help.
[19:28:19] jst is now known as jstenback
[19:28:43] jstenback is now known as jst
[19:29:46] peterbennett: My question is around why the thread in the CEC Adapter clas does not call prolog or epilog, and why it calls exit in the destructor, and how the thread is expected to end
[19:31:27] gedakc: I'm afraid I won't be of much help. Currently I am unfamiliar with prolog and epilog. I anticipate it would take me longer to figure out than you.
[19:32:35] peterbennett: It seems like the CEC will never work the way it is currently written.
[19:33:00] gedakc: Are you able to contact the original developer of the CEC code?
[19:34:33] gedakc: From my work on GParted I know that code using threads can be tricky to get right.
[19:43:35] peterbennett: Well I was hoping the developer was in here :)
[19:44:37] gedakc: If I had to figure out who wrote the code, I might try "git blame" on the source code file.
[19:45:09] gedakc: It should show who last touched each line of CEC code.
[19:46:28] peterbennett: Karl Dietz
[19:46:59] peterbennett: dekarl: I have some issues with the CEC code. Do you have insight into the thread handling?
[19:47:21] dekarl: peterbennett: huh?
[19:47:38] dekarl: how did my name pop up? ;)
[19:48:01] peterbennett: dekarl: I saw you were the last person to change cecadapter.cpp

[19:48:25] dekarl: Ahh I merged a fix to support newer versions or something, but that's about it
[19:48:33] dekarl: let me look into that
[19:48:51] peterbennett: dekarl: It never terminates, frontend hangs
[19:49:49] dekarl: markk wrote it according to the history
[19:50:03] peterbennett: dekarl: It tries to stop a thread by calling exit() .. That does not seem to work, I would have thought it would have closed the entire application but it seems to do nothing.
[19:50:24] peterbennett: dekarl: Anyway I am trying to fix it
[19:50:48] dekarl: peterbennett: that would be very nice, does this look suspicious? #11338
[19:50:48] ** MythLogBot http://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/11338 **
[19:52:30] peterbennett: Well we are now on version 3 of libcec
[19:55:16] peterbennett: Does anybody actually use CEC? The frontend never exits it gives error messages
[19:55:17] peterbennett: MThread prolog was never run! MThread epilog was never run! MThread destructor called while thread still running!
[19:57:28] gedakc: I've heard that some RPi Kodi users have used CEC. I haven't heard of any MythTV users mention that they use CEC.
[19:59:01] peterbennett: gedakc: Hopefully I will get it working, then RPI users need not purchase a remote, they could just use the TV remote.
[20:00:19] gedakc: That would be of great benefit to RPi users. The remote control I bought cost almost as much as the RPi!
[20:00:54] gedakc: I don't know if it would help, but you might look at the Kodi code for CEC.
[20:02:58] gedakc: Also, thank you Peter for working on the MythTV RPi code. Your patches made the RPi2 a viable option for me and my family.

[21:45:11] gary_buhrmaster: stuarta: As I said, I know it works with http, but as the pages allow me (if I subscribe) to put in a password, I would think you would document https (and maybe even redirect).
[21:45:50] gary_buhrmaster: stuarta: and yes, no one competent would use a "real" password, or click in the url in the password reminder email and enter a real password, but.......
[21:47:19] gary_buhrmaster: stuarta: it is the principal of the thing. tls everywhere (well, everywhere that it does not cause issues).
[21:48:42] gary_buhrmaster: stuarta: Of course, holding on to that minor fix to trigger another ubuntu build might not be a bad thing.
[21:56:01] JohnBergqvist: Is this the webserver we're on about?
[21:56:21] JohnBergqvist: i've noticed that I can't change the password from the default 'mythtv'. The logs are telling me i've supplied an incorrect old password, when I haven't...
[21:56:29] JohnBergqvist: How the heck was this put into an actual release?
[22:02:17] gary_buhrmaster: JohnBergqvist: If you are talking to me, I am actually making a comment about a readme and its documented urls (so just virtual paper).
[22:02:29] JohnBergqvist: ahh, sorry, my bad.

[22:31:03] gary_buhrmaster: JohnBergqvist: btw, I have this (poor/bad/failing) memory that the password can be changed in the database. RFC 2617 digest I think in the users table (md5 of <user>:MythTV:<password>). Standard caveats apply (if you break it, you own it).
