[06:54:45] peper03: stuartm: If the bluray bookmark stuff should be in for 0.28, it will need a schema change. Depending on how jya and others feel about that, that may or may not be an issue.
[06:56:13] peper03: I'm not sure whether the schema change I've prepared is actually going to be sufficient. I set up a 1024 character VARCHAR to hold the status but now I see it's possible to access all(?) the internal registers. 4096 general-purpose and 128 player status registers!
[06:58:08] jya: peper03: if a schema change is to be done, it needs to be done very soon. Maybe you could synchronise with dekarl so he can do his around the same time
[06:58:38] peper03: I'm working on the assumption that to restore playback to the state it was last time, all those registers should be restored too. Most of the time just setting the title and playback time will be enough, but to cover all eventualites...
[07:00:42] peper03: jya: Understood. Even if the code weren't ready for 0.28, if the database table is there and usable, the code can be added/fixed/whatever later.
[07:01:15] jya: that sounds like a good option
[07:01:34] jya: otherwise, any bug I should be looking at while I'm playing with myth source code?
[07:01:58] jya: jpabq: i took the NuppelVideoRecorder crash, hoping you won't mind.
[07:02:35] peper03: jya: There's a list here: https://code.mythtv.org/trac
[07:02:37] peper03: ;-)
[07:03:10] jya: well, if i was to go by the list, I would never finish :)
[07:03:28] jya: prefer to do the ones that people here consider urgent
[07:03:57] peper03: #11944 is still lingering but I think that's a tough nut to crack.
[07:03:57] ** MythLogBot http://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/11944 **
[07:04:39] jya: peper03: what's the problem there exactly? can't really tell reading the description
[07:05:02] peper03: It's the problem of playing audio-only channels in LiveTV.
[07:05:13] ShapeShifter499 (ShapeShifter499!~ShapeShif@unaffiliated/shapeshifter499) has quit (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
[07:05:33] peper03: The buffer is too large really for audio-only.
[07:05:41] ShapeShifter499 (ShapeShifter499!~ShapeShif@unaffiliated/shapeshifter499) has joined #mythtv
[07:05:51] jya: that's till not working? i thought I had finished what markk had started. can't test with live TV but audio only file plays well here, It's part of the stuff i test
[07:06:07] jya: which buffer is that ?
[07:06:37] jya: would that be the stuff before startup looking for streams?
[07:06:41] peper03: Pre-recorded stuff is fine because it can fill the buffer immediately. If it's live, it's only trickling in.
[07:06:43] peper03: Yes.
[07:06:51] jya: it keeps looking over and over until it sees a stream
[07:06:55] peper03: #8096 is probably the better ticket.
[07:06:55] ** MythLogBot http://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/8096 **
[07:07:20] jya: that code is so ugly, whenever i see those loops, with usleep i cringe
[07:07:24] peper03: I think. Maybe not...
[07:08:18] jya: i was thinking of stilling the code of MozPromise from gecko tree. It's similar to JS Promise but for C++. Allows for full async code very elegantly. Would allow to remove all those loops and blockage between threads
[07:08:31] jya: queue a task and wait for the promise to continue to resume
[07:08:34] peper03: The problem can cause the FE to hang if you try to leave playback. You have to remember to pause for a few seconds to give it enough data to be happy.
[07:09:11] jya: it's not easy to simply shorten the time / size of buffer for searching
[07:09:21] peper03: I know. I tried :(
[07:09:27] jya: it could genuinely be a stream where audio and video and far appart
[07:09:37] jya: last time I changed that i had to revert it
[07:09:44] peper03: Me too :(
[07:09:55] jya: some obscure recorders that got timeout
[07:10:21] jya: maybe the solution would be to mark in the list of channels if it's audio-only
[07:10:58] jya: either set by the user, or have a scan across all channels during scanning that parse the stream, and mark them as audio only later
[07:11:08] jya: remove the guess work
[07:11:10] peper03: Perhaps.
[07:12:02] peper03: Ok, got to run...
[07:13:01] dekarl: jya, one personal thing that I don't know if there even is a ticket. automatic border detection / removal with hard decoded video. I have no idea if that is low hanging fruit or requires a redesign.
[07:13:27] dekarl: maybe the stride/width issue of https://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/12224
[07:13:47] dekarl: I think you fixed this one already? https://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/12525
[07:16:29] dekarl: maybe the backend crash https://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/12641
[07:17:07] dekarl: here's another backend crash https://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/11795
[07:19:08] dekarl: maybe mythplayer's frame rate "guess code" https://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/12047
[07:19:35] jya: for bug 12525, without a sample it's not going to happen
[07:20:03] dekarl: that's the ones that are high impact (backend crashes) or in ffmpeg/hardware decode
[07:20:19] jya: dekarl: can you just trim a nuv file like you can with mpeg-ts ?
[07:21:24] jya: i've fixed something related to audio format change ; it's still not perfect because for now we can only detect an audio format change after decoding the audio frame and feeding it to AudioOutput
[07:21:50] jya: we're supposed to check the compressed AVFrame and see if stuff have changed, but right now we can only check AVCodecContext
[07:22:00] jya: but that one is updated *after* it's been decoded only
[07:22:16] dekarl: I don't know, but I read that it has an index table at the end lately. I'll suggest to just record a 1 minute test screen or something
[07:22:19] Tobbe5178 (Tobbe5178!~asdf@2001:2002:4e46:4de8:38e4:8f48:50d0:3e0f) has joined #mythtv
[07:22:42] dekarl: ahh, new recordings work :(
[07:22:44] jya: so the first frame after a change is wrongly decoded. didn't seem to impact too much in my test (mostly happen with AC3 when you go between 5.1 in the program to stereo in ads)

[09:10:25] jya: dekarl: weird, it built here in both mac and linux

[20:40:29] jheizer: not installed
[20:40:31] jheizer: that is
[20:40:46] stuartm: QT_SELECT=qt5 qmake --version
[20:40:48] stuartm: QMake version 2.01a
[20:40:49] stuartm: Using Qt version 4.8.6 in /usr/lib64
[20:41:00] stuartm: .8.6 in /usr/lib64
[20:41:01] stuartm: [gbee@scafell ~]$ QT_SELECT=5 qmake --version
[20:41:03] stuartm: QMake version 2.01a
[20:41:04] stuartm: Using Qt version 4.8.6 in /usr/lib64
[20:41:39] superm1: so qmake on ubuntu is actually qtchooser
[20:42:01] superm1: so that you can have multiple qt's installed side by side i thinks
[20:46:01] stuartm: right, I have both QT4 and QT5 installed but the default qmake points at the QT4 version, the QT5 qmake lives in a directory outside PATH
[20:46:13] stuartm: /usr/lib64/qt5/bin/qmake
[20:49:08] superm1: hmm odd, from what i was told:
[20:49:10] superm1: superm1, qt-chooser is an "upstream" thing as far as I understand. and all they should do is like QT_CHOOSER=5 qmake, QT_CHOOSER=4 qmake, and then give up, and that's it.
[20:49:36] superm1: i'm surprised qt-chooser isn't used elsewhere

[20:51:51] superm1: i wonder if there is a way to detect that /usr/bin/qmake is really qt-chooser ?

[20:54:58] jheizer: in my case
[20:55:00] jheizer: jon@mythmasterbackend:~$ ls -lah /usr/bin/qm*
[20:55:00] jheizer: lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 Oct 16 21:17 /usr/bin/qmake -> qtchooser
[20:55:42] superm1: ah that's useful
[20:56:34] superm1: something else that can be considered is to instead of hardcode all those paths in CHECK_QMAKE, put in /usr/lib/`gcc -print-multiarch`/qt5/bin/qmake
[20:56:50] superm1: that should get you the qmakes even on crazy new architectures without needing to change this

[21:07:47] dekarl: jya, no HLS involved in that playlist. its just a random M3U playlist pointing at MPEG2-TS via HTTP streams that are generated with a PID filter (and nothing more). stuff like this (random google hit) http://dream.reichholf.net/wiki/Enigma2:WebInterface#Streaming
[21:08:44] jya: dekarl: i see.. regardless there's stanadrd for playlist AFAIK
[21:10:34] tgm4883: superm1: did you see my question about building?
[21:11:50] dekarl: man, I should not look to closely... they could just insert #EXTVLCOPT;program={e2:item name=Sid /} to their template... http://dream.reichholf.net/e2web/#services.m3u

[21:17:06] tgm4883: I'm not entirely sure how this happened, but git seems unhappy now with mythtv off a new clone

[21:23:49] superm1: we need to filter it somehow to avoid it throwing off our builds
[21:23:50] tgm4883: ah ok
[21:28:06] dekarl: huh? That file is creating work?
[21:28:33] tgm4883: dekarl: yea
[21:28:36] tgm4883: a little
[21:28:58] dekarl: so should it be merged to the fixes branches or be axed for now? I'm not sure I understand what the issue is
[21:29:36] dekarl: its about https://github.com/blog/2111-issue-and-pull-request-templates

[21:30:53] dekarl: tgm4883: the kodi plugin tries to use the service api for everything, but not all features work without direct protocol/database access
[21:32:13] tgm4883: I'm testing out the kodi plugin. I got quite a few kodi users that took that survey
[21:32:38] dekarl: hmm, its just a file. I don't see how its creating an issue :(
