[21:47:23] stuartm: tv playback > screenshot binding is also not working
[21:47:41] dekarl: mythweb remote control nicely shows the screenshot
[21:47:47] stuartm: dekarl: ah-hah, that will be why
[21:48:26] stuartm: I was looking at the services api ... I need to port that one over

[23:27:59] stuartm: I'll port GetScreenshot over to the services API and remove Action=SCREENSHOT
[23:28:15] stuartm: I was about to say this weekend, but we're in a feature freeze?
[23:28:52] dekarl: Is action Screenshot what happens when you push the screenshot key? (if its configured like that)
[23:29:49] stuartm: I've been plagued with an issue on my laptop where it will randomly be unable to connect to a particular IP – other machines on the same network are fine, I'm tearing my hair out and pretty stumped as to the cause
[23:30:04] stuartm: dekarl: exactly that
[23:30:42] stuartm: but what use a remote/thirdparty client would have for that I don't know
[23:32:02] stuartm: it's this sort of thing that then lead to APIs being created to retrieve files from the filesystem
[23:32:27] stuartm: backwards thinking
[23:33:32] dekarl: pulling a use case out of thin air, makes sense to collect screenshots triggered by an mobile app remote for later upload to theme issue tickets.
[23:33:50] stuartm: bill6502: from your perspective, what purpose do API endpoints allowing browsing of storage groups (aka the filesystem) serve when we have APIs to return relevant files – screenshots, recordings, videos, fanart etc?
[23:34:08] dekarl: But I agree, storing the screenshot locally on the frontend only to retrieve it via a download and then show it. That is nonsense
[23:35:11] dekarl: stuarm, I've been thinking about one feature to implement... dynamic UPNP version fiddling with a --upnp-broken-version-check-workaround :(
[23:35:44] dekarl: Or create a "MythTV wants you to fix your UPNP version check!" poster
[23:36:00] stuartm: right ... guess that one takes priority over my war on stupid APIs
[23:36:29] stuartm: dekarl: UPnP Hall of Shame
[23:39:54] stuartm: so ... anyone have any ideas why I might be unable to access an IP from one particular machine but not others – can't ping, GET, curl – has to be something at a low level
[23:39:59] stuartm: traceroute does work
[23:41:04] stuartm: no firewall running, no abnormal routes configured
[23:45:07] dekarl: traceroute working is bad. would have guessed MAC/ARP/IP collision
[23:45:22] bill6502: stuartm: re file system browsing endpoints, the use case we had was being able to detect that the Streaming Storage Group had space available. We've had cases of users running out of space and not understanding that they needed to consider the effect of transcoding.
[23:46:19] dekarl: is the network between the machines switched or routed. netmask mismatch may be hard to debug
[23:46:22] bill6502: but in general, no need to browse the file system

[23:53:43] stuartm: a little context – the server in question is an AWS instance hosted in the US, the machine which is unable to connect is a laptop sitting next to me right now which connects to a wireless router with cable modem
[23:53:58] stuartm: two other laptops and this desktop machine can connect to the IP
[23:54:35] stuartm: the laptop seems to have no problem connecting to any other server, including another AWS instance in the same subnet

[23:56:01] dekarl: Stale /etc/hosts entry? Something with MTU and no ICMP fragmentation-needed?
[23:57:12] stuartm: worse sometimes it works perfectly, other times it doesn't – a reboot doesn't help
[23:58:41] dekarl: working is linux style UDP traceroute, not BSD style ICMP traceroute? (or was it the other way around?)
