[12:48:26] ShapeShifter499: hi
[12:48:38] dekarl1: <3 TV Standards... If its a german "DVB-T2 HD" device, then "no character encoding signalling" means something else then if its for a different market. (leave alone the original meaning defined in EN 300 468)... It would be to easy if they didn't balkanize the TV market to protect domestic suppliers...
[12:48:42] dekarl1 is now known as dekarl
[12:49:13] stuarta: dekarl: is that guy still being stupid on the list?
[12:49:16] dekarl: no wonder that we need so many fixups the redefine "the default" depending on tv market
[12:50:30] ShapeShifter499: version 0.28 is just whatever is in the github right now, right?
[12:50:55] Doc_ (Doc_!~Doc@46.181.149.122.sta.dodo.net.au) has quit (Ping timeout: 245 seconds)
[12:51:01] stuarta: yes
[12:51:02] dekarl: stuarta, I don't know. just looking at the polish fixups and remembered what I read lately, and how I thought "yeah! the new generation of commitee members has forgotten what they are building upon"...
[12:51:22] ShapeShifter499: since there are experimental packages for 0.28 for ubuntu, I might try that to see if that fixes things https://launchpad.net/~mythbuntu/+archive/ubuntu/0.28
[12:51:22] stuarta: i am not surprised
[12:51:23] dekarl: ShapeShifter499: yes, the master branch will become fixes/0.28 in the next weeks
[12:51:55] ShapeShifter499: anything I should know about going from 0.27 to 0.28?
[12:52:04] dekarl: its not as if that old stuff is basically the 80's version of Unicode/UTF-8
[12:52:05] stuarta: eta 10 days till i cut beta/0.28
[12:52:35] dekarl: ShapeShifter499: UPNP will break due to non-compliances of basically every implementation I've seen (all but ours)
[12:53:29] dekarl: maybe we should add a fallback switch for that. (stuartm, what do you think about that? look's like I wasn't able to tease people into fixing VLC/Kodi/etc.)
[12:53:35] stuarta: great spec, shoddy implementation
[12:54:03] ShapeShifter499: dekarl: oh thanks for the heads up, would have killed the main reason I'm setting this up
[12:54:13] ShapeShifter499: kodi frontend support on my android device
[12:54:52] stuarta: i didn't think kodi used upnp, anyway there was chatter yesterday in -users saying that just updating kodi makes it work with master
[12:55:01] dekarl: ShapeShifter499: just to be clear. That is about Kodi accessing MythTV via UPNP. It has nothing to do with the PVR plugin or similar
[12:55:17] ShapeShifter499: dekarl: ah
[12:55:35] dekarl: that leaves the question, how do people access mythvideo then?
[12:56:01] stuarta: i'd suggest dropping that question to the -users list
[12:57:41] ShapeShifter499: dekarl: is that the only major break in 0.28 code you've seen?
[12:59:39] dekarl: ShapeShifter499: its the one thing I had in mind that is not clear on https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Release_Notes_-_0.28
[13:03:01] ShapeShifter499: hmm
[13:03:30] dekarl: ohhh, "DVB-T2 HD" will get private stations in HEVC 1080p50 starting in the second quarter this year according to http://heise.de/-3081766 (german)
[13:03:35] stuartm: dekarl: guess we might have to – although I'd label it as "Support non-DLNA compliant UPnP clients" ;)
[13:03:59] dekarl: with full 1920x1080, too.
[13:04:03] stuartm: actually non-UPnP compliant, but everyone likes to boast they are DLNA compliant
[13:04:28] stuartm: and you can't be DLNA compliant if you aren't UPnP compliant
[13:04:44] dekarl: DLNA was the 5k per year sticker?
[13:04:49] ShapeShifter499: last question before I attempt a upgrade, how stable is this code guys?
[13:05:42] stuartm: yes, if you want to carry the sticker/logo it's at least that much, iirc more even
[13:05:44] dekarl: ShapeShifter499: it really depends on what you use. But if you can send in backtraces everything will be more stable soon ;)
[13:05:59] stuartm: but they made the spec public two years ago
[13:07:27] ShapeShifter499: dekarl: I'm just running this on a chromebook c710 turned server, running mythbuntu, 12gb ram, 500gb storage, and a usb hvr950q tuner
[13:07:45] stuartm: DLNA is just a superset of UPnP – specifying the minimum UPnP features which must be supported and adding some extra (UPnP compliant) extensions to metadata etc
[13:10:32] dekarl: ShapeShifter499: I was trying so say "it is stable for me and others that run their production system on master, but I used livetv lately for the first time and had some crashes".. So depending on your usage you may or may not see issues. The best thing at this stage in the release cycle appears to move forward and fix all remaining issues. If you can not afford any downtime right now, then maybe wait a little.
[13:11:02] stuartm: the main stuff relates to information on file encoding – so the client knows whether they are able to play back that format or not, most dlna players won't display files they are incapable of decoding
[13:11:40] ShapeShifter499: dekarl: got it, well I'm grasping at straws here as audio half works for me
[13:11:55] ShapeShifter499: nice and clear live tv stream without audio
[13:12:20] stuartm: UPnP just exposes the filename, DLNA adds a series of classes for encoding, container, resolution etc
[13:12:53] ShapeShifter499: I can trigger it via some weird bug but it's not convenient
[13:42:15] dmfrey (dmfrey!~dmfrey@68.170.18.123) has joined #mythtv
[13:48:58] ShapeShifter499: stuartm: dekarl maybe this is a question for #mythtv-users but.... my kodi pvr frontend just gave me an error with the new 0.28v. "Failed to connect the MythTV backend with the known protocol versions. Please check the compatibility map of the addon and upgrade your backend to a supported version"
[13:50:27] stuarta: ShapeShifter499: is that the latest version?
[13:51:00] stuartm: of kodi
[13:51:07] stuarta: +of kodi
[13:52:22] ShapeShifter499: stuarta: oh yea straight from the google play store. System info reports Kodi 15.2 Git:2015-10-27–17fa8da
[13:52:25] stuartm: is it still using that middleware library?
[13:52:38] ShapeShifter499: stuarta: the pvr plugin was just updated to support 0.28
[13:53:00] ShapeShifter499: I have no idea about middleware
[13:55:18] stuartm: android version would have that included so I wouldn't worry about it
[13:57:24] ShapeShifter499: maybe 0.28 broke something? or maybe I preformed the upgrade incorrectly?
[13:58:01] dekarl: ShapeShifter499: IIRC the last protocol change was around christmas https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/commits/mast . . . ythversion.h
[13:58:13] dekarl: maybe your version of the mythtv pvr addon is to old?
[13:58:48] stuarta: right, who's just force pushed to master and why....
[13:58:54] ShapeShifter499: dekarl: it was version 77 before the upgrade now I see this in the logs "2016-01–22 05:46:54.452601 C MainServer: MainServer::HandleVersion – Client speaks protocol version 87 but we speak 88!"
[13:59:15] ShapeShifter499: before it mentioned the same thing but version 77 instead of 87
[13:59:56] dekarl: you want a pvr addon newer then december 26th according to https://github.com/kodi-pvr/pvr.mythtv/commits/master
[14:01:14] stuartm: did lvr just revert the last week or more of commits from the repo?
[14:02:25] stuarta: time to pull his privileges
[14:02:29] ShapeShifter499: wait I also get this directly after the message above "2016-01–22 06:01:32.491083 I Control sock(270f0b0) disconnected"
[14:02:54] dekarl: @stuarts, the head was reset, the commits are still there https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/commits/1f38 . . . dc25ad725814
[14:03:05] stuarta: wtf is that all about
[14:03:18] stuarta: he shouldn't be force pushing anyway
[14:03:27] stuarta: that just causes fuckups
[14:04:00] dekarl: the commit mails from our repo show nicely how stuff is shuffled around when moving the heads around
[14:04:21] stuarta: it's still a pain
[14:05:12] ShapeShifter499: here is the full log I get https://pastee.org/u4uga
[14:05:15] stuartm: dekarl: I'm glad you can read that commit email
[14:05:49] ShapeShifter499: that control sock message pops up twice because I tried to connect twice
[14:05:55] dekarl: Can someone talk to him what the intentions are? Is he returning? Is he pulling his contributions? Do we need a CLA? https://www.clahub.com/pages/why_cla
[14:06:22] stuarta: dekarl: email already sent
[14:06:26] stuartm: I see a diff stat with lots of changes, deleted files and discarded commits :0
[14:07:16] stuarta: something's not right, git log shows the latest commit as Dec 28th
[14:07:22] dekarl: stuartm, the ascii art in the various earlier mails (and in this one) is what let me understand what was going on
[14:08:01] stuartm: well the ascii art suggests to be that HEAD has been rebased to a point in the past
[14:08:37] dekarl: yes, from 1f389 to 05ef6
[14:08:39] stuartm: but my git fu is not strong
[14:09:02] stuartm: discarding every commit since then?
[14:09:15] MythBuild: build #1862 of master-fedora-32bit is complete: Failure [4failed unit test core] Build details are at http://code.mythtv.org/buildbot/builders/mast . . . /builds/1862 blamelist: dummy
[14:09:43] stuarta: seriously wtf
[14:09:51] dekarl: yes, if we continue from there. I'd stop committing until we hear back, then likely move the HEAD to 1f389 again
[14:10:27] dekarl: if someone accidently commits we can merge it onto the old/new head later, too.
[14:10:37] ShapeShifter499: erm someone messing with public source?
[14:11:18] stuarta: yes
[14:11:24] dekarl: maybe

[14:11:38] stuarta: as my current head
[14:12:21] dekarl: I can move it to its old value if there is agreement to that

[15:47:49] stuarta: dekarl: btw. i just noticed something that may affect opengles selection. configure is checking for QtCore || QtCore5 and it's support for opengles, but crucially it checks QtCore first, which may pickup Qt4 version??

[19:06:07] sphery: jheizer: in many cases--and depending on key mappings--it can be very difficult to notice the difference...
