[11:14:20] stuartm: dblain: I thought I remember that you'd modified one of the .qsp to use Rtti as an example but I can't find it now, did you put it in an email or pastebin and I've just managed to lose it?

[12:17:53] dekarl: ok, I'll hold my horses then
[12:18:18] stuartm: just adding some stuff to the Frontend services API to support creating the frontend status page with qsp
[12:52:58] stuartm: do we still want the machine load averages on the status page? Is that really something worth keeping?

[13:25:11] dekarl: leave them away. there are other stats that are more important now

[14:19:32] paul-h: stuartm: what was https://github.com/mythtv/mythtv/commit/428609b7 fixing? It's that change that is causing #12348 because we no longer remove the fractional time part of those fields when we do the query
[14:19:32] ** MythLogBot http://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/12348 **
[14:26:28] paul-h: So basically date_enetered is stored in the DB as 2014-10–26 10:48:23 but when we run a smart playlist to query that field we do so just using a date like 2014-10–26 so for it to work as expected we need to convert the date_entered field from the DB to just the date which is what the FROM_DAYS(TO_DAYS(date_entered)) was doing
[14:27:56] stuartm: paul-h: I should have written a better commit message, I can't remember :(
[14:28:32] stuartm: I know that there was a bug which that change fixed ... which is a bit obvious really
[14:29:40] stuartm: paul-h: might have been a UTC related issue, but I'm just guessing
[14:31:11] stuartm: my own laziness comes back to bite me
[14:31:34] stuartm: paul-h: since I'm the one who broke it, feel free to reassign it to me if you want
[14:32:43] stuartm: I make heavy use of smart playlists, and ones using those fields fairly regularly, I'll revert the change and see what breaks
[14:35:21] paul-h: As far as I know it's never been a problem and the smart playlists was one of the first things I wrote for Myth long before I got commit access :)
[14:36:27] paul-h: Of cause there have been many changes since then like switching to MythUI and the UTC stuff so ...
[14:41:50] stuartm: couple of things I want to fix in the smart playlist editor, when editing dates the 'default' year is 1900, imho should be at least closer to the current year, and +/- Days defaults to -9999 with a page interval of just 5 making it very difficult to get to a value like -1
[14:44:31] paul-h: stuartm: yeah I noticed a few odd things when I tested it earlier
[14:45:23] stuartm: paul-h: can you revert 428609b7 for me? I've got a number of changes in my tree which need finishing first before I can do it, then I can spend time later on reminding myself what the issue was with playlists using those two columns
[14:46:56] paul-h: Yeah I'll do it later
[14:49:31] paul-h: I suspect you just thought it was redundant to convert the field to days and then immediately back again. It does look odd but does serve a purpose
[14:53:16] paul-h: Seems you was fixing some NULL inserts into a non NULL column around the same time like 43b799a5 and 7fca7800 maybe that is what you was thinking of?
[14:56:12] paul-h: Back to deciphering pcap files in wireshark to try to get the pesky SKYHD to respond to upnp requests properly

[18:19:03] jab416171: what's the sql to flag a recording as one that should be re-recorded?
[18:19:54] stuartm: dekarl: are we bothered about keeping the frontend remote at the same address? I suppose I can hardcode a redirect but it's current 'location' doesn't really fix well with the layout of the web root, so I'd want to move it

[18:24:54] dekarl: a redirect would be the icing on the cake
[18:26:44] stuartm: just not sure what the 'standard' location will be yet, /Frontend/ was my first choice but it's already taken by the services API

[18:32:23] jab416171: I've got a bunch of files on disk that mythtv thinks are much bigger and complete recordings. How can I tell mythtv they're not and it should flag them as re-record?
[18:32:25] stuartm: might just leave the old remote alone, I think we can come up with something even better, a remote which changes to suit the context – so during recording playback it shows play/pause/skip/jump/volume controls
[18:32:51] stuartm: jab416171: someone in #mythtv-users can help

[19:16:47] stuartm: dekarl: just a quick concept drawing of what I'm thinking about when I talk about the remote adapting to the context – http://mythtv.co.uk/imagebin/web_remote_concept.png
[19:19:31] stuartm: obviously not what the finished article would look like, i.e. having a play and a pause button is pointless since the states are mutually exclusive, and the selection of other displayed options would need discussion
[19:20:48] stuartm: I quite like the idea of being able to customise it, so that regularly used features get a shortcut button, but that makes it much more complicated to implement
[19:21:10] stuarta: damn is the superbowl on this weekend?
[19:21:57] stuartm: :P
[19:22:30] stuarta: ah no, it's playoffs week
[19:24:13] stuartm: huh? I just picked something our american devs would recognise, have no idea when the Superbowl is held, thought it was was later in the year ...
[19:25:37] stuarta: normally on or around australia day (26th jan)
[19:27:22] stuartm: assumed they played in the summer
[19:27:42] stuartm: guess I was being unfair
[19:40:50] dekarl: stuartm, I like the colour :D
[19:41:16] dekarl: though "mute" could be a small "togglethingy" at the "silent" end of the volume bar or so
[19:41:44] dekarl: hmm, need to think. Is this going to be a mouse/touch interface?
[19:42:02] dekarl: could have something jogshuttle style instead of slower/faster
[19:42:44] dekarl: also a cursor pad would be useful to go with menu/exit :)
[19:43:56] dekarl: thinking about it, sounds like you may want something like a "second screen app". So it would be completely ok, to leave the functions of the remote as is, just put it into a themeable file

[20:29:55] stuartm: dekarl: I was thinking that when you enter the menu the central buttons, maybe even the rest of it gets replaced by arrow buttons, page up/down and an enter/select/ok button
[20:30:41] stuartm: hence "adapting to context"
[20:31:55] stuartm: so in livetv we'd show number buttons, but those aren't so useful with recordings
[20:34:04] stuartm: just an idea at this stage, as I don't think the static 'remote' we have now is as useful as it could be
[20:34:17] dekarl: ah, it depends, i use them to jump 6 or 8 minutes (length oif ads)
[20:35:18] stuartm: dekarl: ah, well I have my jump keys configured to jump 2 minutes, so I just press them once or twice to jump the length of the ad break
[20:35:52] stuartm: late night tv tends to use two minute breaks, daytime/evening breaks are four minutes
[20:37:54] dekarl: sound like we could add that to the locale defaults
[20:46:53] dekarl: with the seek and volume bar a "playback speed" bar seemed a natural fit, but then the seek/skip buttons are almost useless in livetv/recordings
[20:49:36] dekarl: its a can of worms, like like in livetv we could show channel icons instead of numbers

[21:10:12] stuartm: think it varies from person to person, I use the skip/jump a lot, not just to avoid the adverts but because sometimes I'll miss what was said (I'm often multi-tasking) so I'll skip back to re-watch the last 20–30 seconds
[21:10:39] stuartm: likewise I use subtitles quite a bit as it means I can keep the volume lower to avoid disturbing others
[21:11:12] stuartm: does anyone know why the win build is failing? I can't see anything helpful in the output
