[01:45:14] jya: gigem: in records to liveTV order, I’ve found that it seems completely ignored if “browse all channels” is disabled in the playback profile.
[01:46:27] jya: with brand new frontend, default settings, (with browse all channels unchecked), when I start liveTV, it will always start using the first card, even if it is already recording. And so you are stuck on browsing only channels on the same multiplex
[01:46:44] jya: once browse all channels is checked, it works just fine (though it still starts on the first card)
[01:48:18] jya: (I have 6 DVB-T physical tuner, each with 3 virtual tuner. Order for them is 1,4,7,10,13, 16 and for the live TV order I have them set as : 16, 13, 10, 7, 4, 1
[01:48:39] jya: imho that order settings should be ditched, and make it automatically that way.
[01:49:06] jya: Browse All channels should also be set to true by default. As having it as false doesn’t make any sense for anyone using a TV.

[03:19:35] gigem: jya: Agree on ditching browse all channels. Feel free to remove it if you like. Dunno about ditching livetvorder. Some users will have different preferences, especially when they have tuners of differing quality or dedicate specific tuners for live TV or recordings. Yeah, livetvorder is still kind of advisory. It works when entering live TV, or at least it did when I added it, but after that, it's not
[03:19:37] gigem: really used. The main reason for that is my head hurts too much every time I try to decipher the browse/channel changing code in tv_play. I'd really like to try to simplify that code, but there are other changes I'd like to make first. Those other changes would make it all easier, but I don't know when I'll ever get to them.
[03:20:48] jya: gigem: don’t have to remove liveTV order alltogether. just make it the default to have them reverted
[03:21:10] jya: trying to calculate what number to use, thinking to skip the virtual number, is just an absolute pain.
[03:21:27] jya: always have to resort writing it down on a piece of paper before I fill it up
[03:22:22] jya: Will remove “Browse all channels too”, plus I never find it first go, where it’s located makes no sense to me… why would it be in playback profile
[03:22:33] jya: recording profile

[04:29:35] dblain: stuartm_: regarding detecting frontends... the SSDP code maintains a list of all upnp devices/services that are on the network. (frontend/backends are included in that list). Should be easy enough to expose that data from a service call.
[04:30:06] dblain: Side benefit is that dlna enabled tv's & recievers will be listed as well, in case we ever want to push playback to them.
[04:45:53] sdrik (sdrik!~cedric@sdrik.gabriello.fr) has joined #mythtv
[04:54:36] gigem: jya: There's no need to skip the virtual tuners when setting the order. The way danielk22 did it, all artificially added virtual tuners get the same order number as their master. Also, one way to avoid having to change the orders when adding a new tuner is to start with high numbers. The 'first' tuner doesn't have to have order 1. For example, if you have 4 physical tuners, set livetvorder to 100, 99, 98
[04:54:38] gigem: and 97. Then when you add tuner 5, you can set it 96 and not have to renumber the others.

[05:02:12] gigem: jya: One more thing. I hope the web setup will eventually make the ordering trivial. Just click a toggle to display the tuners in sched or livetv order then drag each one up or down to reorder them.

[10:05:51] stuartm: :)
[10:06:34] stuartm: bah, DST bug in the WebFrontend, or possibly the services API itself
[10:08:34] stuartm: dekarl: for "Make it easy to see past / future recordings per recording rule." are you thinking a complete listing of both, or just X (5, 10, 20) of each?
[10:08:35] dekarl: DST around-switching must die, give us endless summer!
[10:09:33] dekarl: stuartm: I was mainly thinking of "does it match anything yes/no"
[10:10:24] stuartm: there's the "Next 5 Showings" list on the details tab for a rule, is that the sort of thing you were thinking?
[10:10:37] dekarl: for scheduling debugging a full list may be useful, I have not thought it through. But then a list of "recording rules that this one upcoming recording matches" might be more helpful (think which rule sets the priority)
[10:22:28] dekarl: hmm, when you go to the recording rule details via the rule its nicely showing the mostly empty search rule, if you go to the same rule with an upcoming recording, then its filled with details from the guide
[10:23:10] dekarl: looking at the details it appears as if search rules are not yet supported
[10:23:59] stuartm: dekarl: that's the DST bug
[10:24:22] stuartm: http://mythtv.co.uk/imagebin/WebFrontend%20-% . . . 0Details.png
[10:24:59] stuartm: actually the DST bug is accessing the rule from the Recordings list
[10:25:16] dekarl: man, this "subtitle may only be episode title and nothing else" assumption is "not so nice"...
[10:25:48] stuartm: are there real world examples where that's not the case?
[10:25:52] dekarl: ohh, its green. not over here
[10:26:02] dekarl: stuartm, umm all DVB-EIT :)
[10:26:33] dekarl: we usually have helpful subtitles like "Drama 2014 UK" in the short_event_descriptor
[10:26:38] stuartm: dekarl: well there is no such thing as a subtitle for EIT, just a short description which we sometimes stuff into the subtitle
[10:27:17] dekarl: on the other hand we slap "program_type = movie" on most of the EIT which is wrong, too :)
[10:27:45] stuartm: yeah, that's no such much a problem with the subtitle == episode title assumption, but with fixups assuming the short_descriptor should automatically go into the subtitle
[10:27:50] dekarl: I'd love to stick the tagline into the subtitle of movies
[10:28:01] coling_ is now known as coling
[10:28:12] dekarl: in german guide data you have the program title "title – tagline" for many movies
[10:29:01] stuartm: probably better to have a separate tagline field rather than confusing the issue by overloading the subtitle field – which we should perhaps rename, "episodetitle"
[10:29:12] dekarl: e.g. http://www.themoviedb.org/movie/245-about-a-boy?language=de
[10:29:48] stuartm: "No one has entered a tagline." heh
[10:30:06] dekarl: instead they appended it to the title...
[10:30:12] jya: no last opposition to me merge my ffmpeg resync?
[10:30:26] jya: haven’t found an issue so far
[10:30:44] stuartm: jya: not from me :)
[10:30:55] dekarl: jya, I could not test, but I'm looking forward to it, so I can push that frame_rate fix
[10:31:09] stuartm: unless you're about to leave on a 2 week business trip/holiday that is
[10:31:31] jya: maybe I test the HLS stuff mysellf.. only thing I’m unsure about and didn’t test.
[10:31:39] jya: how do you start the HLS encoder?
[10:32:15] stuartm: jya: quickest way is to go to the WebFrontend, Recordings, Click 'Play'
[10:32:37] jya: using the backend web interface? what’s the port ?
[10:32:44] stuartm: 6544
[10:33:20] dekarl: jya, that one https://code.mythtv.org/trac/attachment/ticke . . . -frame.patch unless it conflicts with your work on AVFormatDecoder
[10:34:03] jya: dekarl: I’ve done no changes to avfd yet
[10:34:29] jya: it’s a big task, and it will take a while to get anything obvious from a user perspective. so not a very gratifying work
[10:34:40] jya: HLS on-demand/live is far more rewarding
[10:35:44] jya: stuartm: in the web interface, how do you interface it with a particular code ? say I want /hls/live/XX to map to a particular functionality
[10:35:48] jya: where is that mapping done?
[10:39:02] jya: stuartm: the main page has 11 line of text across with things like: Image not found: /Content/GetPreviewImage?ChanId=2001&Height=382&StartTime=2014-05– 17T17:47:41Z&Format=JPG
[10:39:58] jya: stuartm: what’s the username/password ?

[10:44:28] jya: doh..
[10:44:42] jya: must have mispelt it, it’s the first thing I had tried
[10:46:54] jya: i deleted 5 recordings in my list of 10.. mythbackend when I clck on List Recordings (HLS page) still shows the same, including the one I just deleted
[10:48:30] stuartm: the old HLS page was a proof of concept thing from a couple of years ago, don't think it bothers to exclude recordings in the 'deleted' recgroup
[10:49:27] stuartm: it's due to be deleted
[10:53:03] dekarl: stuartm, looks like the CSS class is getting the localized strings <div class="programBox programGeplant" id="47724_2014-05–31T12:25:00.000Z" onMouseOver="startDetailTimer(this, 'program');" onMouseOut="hideDetail(this);">
[10:53:06] stuartm: jya: the request uris are registered through 'extensions' there's not one single place, if we want the HLS stuff to be part of the services API then we simply add the relevant method to the Content service e.g. HLS/GetSegment?Id=123 – libs/libmythservicecontracts/services/content.h
[10:53:10] jya: i started the encoding, which failed due to mythtranscode not found in the path. i fixed the path, re-clicked to re-generate the encoding, nothing appened
[10:53:59] dekarl: has programGeplant instead of programWillRecord
[10:54:16] jya: I then re-typed the URL to the mythbackend, now everything was stuck on a big “Waiting…” on the main page
[10:54:19] jya: and it was stuck.
[10:54:24] jya: had to restart the backend
[10:54:25] stuartm: if we don't want to use the services infrastructure, then honestly I'll need to investigate how to create an HLS extension for the httpserver, not had to do that before now

[10:57:37] jya: oh… stuartm you said I could simply use the recording screen and start watching ?
[10:58:27] jya: hmm.. Play there does nothing either
[10:58:33] stuartm: jya: yes, although there's no facility to delete/restart encoding from there, just a 'one click play' option which doesn't work as well as it should because it takes too long to start the encoding process

[11:00:39] jya: ah ok
[11:01:00] jya: the problem is the stream doesn’t appear in API Example HTTP LIve streaming

[11:27:14] stuartm: that would seem so unlikely
[11:27:26] jya: there’s also a racing condition in there..
[11:28:04] jya: it does in previewgenerator.cpp:
[11:28:05] jya: ms->Run(30);
[11:28:05] jya: uint ret = ms->Wait();
[11:28:06] jya: delete ms;
[11:28:39] jya: here im debugging it. delete ms still has the fork running, so when you delete ms, the child then finish, and will crash
[11:28:47] jya: that’s fine if the command finishes within 30s
[11:28:53] jya: but if it doesn;t it will crash
[11:29:52] jya: wait() does nothing here, as its not a 2nd thread that is started, but a fork
[11:33:52] ** jya one day will start a HLS stream.... **
[11:45:17] dekarl: stuartm: the rule details show "rule type record all showings" but the list of upcoming recordings is showing "rule type: aufnahme deaktiviert" ("Override recording")
[11:49:09] dekarl: hmm, kOverrideRecord and kDontRecord are both converted to "Override Recording" in https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/blob/master/ . . . ypes.cpp#L39
[11:49:51] stuartm: dekarl: known issue, it's an enum vs string thing, I was waiting on d blain to add his enum support for the services API but since he's busy I'll create a fix later today
[11:50:10] dekarl: ahh ok
[11:52:21] stuartm: basically one endpoint of the API returns the rec type as an integer, the other a string, the function which translates the internal string to the translated string ends up spitting out "Override Recording" when it instead gets given an integer
[12:02:24] dekarl: so no toRawString via Service API?
[12:07:09] stuartm: on some endpoints it's not used
[12:07:30] dekarl: the timestamp of the commit that added the functions gave away what happened :(
[12:08:32] stuartm: at this stage I'm not sure whether it's better to convert everything to use toRawString(), or just add a workaround on the client side in the hope that we do get the enum support eventually
[12:08:55] stuartm: last thing I want is for third parties using the API to have to make two sets of changes to their code
[12:09:59] stuartm: Services API is supposed to be extremely stable, although obviously some allowances have to be made while it's still relatively young and under development
[12:10:57] jya: stuartm: which web browser are you using?
[12:12:11] stuartm: jya: primarily opera, but I've been testing everything on Chromium, Firefox (Desktop & Android), Chrome (Android) and Opera (Android)
[12:12:37] jya: ok… in firefox, i can see the list of the 2 hls streas created, but can’t delete them
[12:12:38] stuartm: we're knowingly using stuff that only the latest gen browsers support in some places
[12:12:43] jya: in chrome i don’t see them at all
[12:15:57] stuartm: can't say I've tested that particular page in other browsers, as I said earlier, it was a proof of concept added by Captain_Murdoch IIRC, it was likely going to be removed before the next release
[12:17:00] stuartm: you could just truncate the livestream table, that won't do the cleanup of any transcoded segments but it will allow you to restart the job
[12:17:52] jya: stuartm: that’s assuming which table i would need to truncate, and how to truncate it :)
[12:18:07] jya: that’s allright though, i’ve made a few more recordings.. can create a few more strings
[12:18:45] stuartm: jya: "TRUNCATE livestream"
[12:19:03] jya: thanks
[12:19:16] stuartm: alternatively you can call directly on the services API – http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Content_Service#GetLiveStreamList http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Content_Service#RemoveLiveStream
[12:25:04] jya: weird: Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec)
[12:27:18] stuartm: that's standard for TRUNCATE
[12:29:18] jya: ok
[12:29:27] jya: so let’s debug just the command line
[12:29:44] dekarl: stuartm, aye. the "don't break existing services" is something I'm thinking about
[12:30:49] dekarl: but replacing toString(RecordingType rectype) with toRawString(RecordingType rectype) appears safe, as it does not change the interface for lang=en_* / C
[12:31:21] jya: oh well, ts files generated are okay. just the startup from the backend is wrong
[12:31:28] jya: but that’s a different story
[12:38:52] jya: ok… ffmpeg merge completed and pushed
[12:41:25] jya: make sure you run make distclean, and delete the installed headers
[12:42:18] jya: there’s a frame.h in FFmpeg/libavutil now, and we used to have a frame.h too, our frame.h has been renamed mythframe.h, but i’ve had a system where that caused a conflict with not found header

[13:05:35] jya: my guess is that the actual make file statically created needs to be re-generated to compile. I believe all the MS makefiles have been statically generated.
[13:08:33] jya: hmm.. qmake is called on it
[13:09:02] jya: stuarta: is the MS install completely cleared before the buildbot is run?
[13:11:23] jya: dblain: could you have a look ? thanks
[13:16:22] jya: dblain: the msvc builder appear to only attempt to build mythtv/libs and mythtv/programs and not external…
[13:16:57] jya: external/FFmpeg must be compiled before hand, otherwise libmythavuitil is going to be obsolete and not contain the new functions

[17:37:51] dekarl: when the first 10 items fully fit into the window, then scrolling is broken
[17:38:09] dekarl: enabling the debugger takes screen space, so the list doesn't fit anymore but now the scrolling works
[17:38:19] dekarl: making the window smaller also unbreaks the scrolling
[17:39:12] dekarl: zooming in/out also breaks/unbreaks the lists
[17:39:28] stuartm: bill6502: that's a little strange ...
[17:40:14] stuartm: dekarl: hmm, we're using a jquery plugin for the lazy loading, obviously there's a bug

[17:42:00] stuartm: bill6502: mind running the backend with --log-level=debug and looking for "BackendContext: Increasing connection count for ... " messages, see what the last of those say before you call GetFrontends?

[20:40:02] qwebirc46782: I posted this in #mythtv-users but not getting any useful responses, maybe you guys know:
[20:40:04] qwebirc46782: I am trying to remove a capture card using the API http://192.168.1.150:6544/Capture/RemoveCaptureCard?CardId=13 but all I get in response is "401Invalid Action" – I am using the instructions at http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Capture_Service#RemoveCaptureCard but it isn't working.
[20:40:30] qwebirc46782: Is there any other way to remove a single capture card without removing them all?
[20:44:12] stuartm: that should work (with 0.27+) unless you're specifying an invalid id
[20:44:26] stuartm: the only other option is to use mythtv-setup
[20:47:48] qwebirc46782: Okay will try that thanks
[20:48:34] bill6502: qwebirc46782: isn't that a POST, rather than a GET?
[20:49:12] qwebirc46782: I don't know I was just using the syntax shown on that page
[20:50:20] bill6502: see the table at the top of that page. you can't execute that command from you browser (directly)
[20:52:05] qwebirc46782: So I don't understand how you do it then. We have added a satellite capture card and it isn't working so we are trying to remove it and start over
[20:52:32] qwebirc46782: And we've spent two hours trying to figure out how to remove this card with no success.
[20:52:54] qwebirc46782: What are we missing here?
[20:53:08] bill6502: use (for example) curl --data CardId=13 backend:6544/Capture/RemoveCaptureCard I didn't test that, but it's close
[20:54:58] bill6502: Services API things that modify data are supposed to use an HTTP POST rather than an HTTP GET the --data argument in curl will do that for you
[20:56:21] qwebirc46782: THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! That worked like a charm!!!!!
[20:57:59] bill6502: np, did you add the capture card with the GUI? because the AddCardInput endpoint should be a POST too
[20:59:11] qwebirc46782: Yes, and the problem is the card is giving us error messages in dmesg. It was supposed to be a card that you could just install and it would work.
[21:06:08] bill6502: stuartm: http://pastebin.com/YPnLkGG6 is an annotated log. It looks like GetFrontends works OK, 'til I start repeating FE's going on-line. Then it never shows OnLine=1 again. I don't understand the 'connection count' being 2 for a single FE. If that's not what you wanted, please let me know.
