[00:20:02] peper03: It's crashing in QString::QString( const QString& ). Looking at the assembler, it appears that the reference it's been passed is invalid (0x31), which would imply (as far as I can tell) the UPnpService instance referenced in UPnpSearchTask::ProcessDevice is invalid.

[15:23:57] dekarl: I'd like to remove old cruft (from settings and housekeeping) from the db, starting with http://pastebin.com/CiMyuYZ4 and http://pastebin.com/DvivYzJv any veto?
[15:24:45] dekarl: There will be a minimal change in behaviour when creating a new recording rule template.
[15:27:09] dekarl: peper03: mind to add yourself at http://code.mythtv.org/trac/wiki/WhosWho?
[15:38:58] wagnerrp: mythweb users actually have control over that setting, besides the blind settings table editor?
[15:42:44] dekarl: I don't think so. But lots of text snippets are floating around from the time when MythTV stopped using them until MythWeb was updated to also stop using them... => confusing statements like "but its in the database!!!" like #12007 (that was the straw that broke the camels back ;)
[15:42:44] ** MythLogBot http://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/12007 **
[15:48:45] peper03: dekarl: Done.
[15:49:18] wagnerrp: seems more appropriate to just move that page, since users clearly can't be depended on their own to dig through the code and determine the purpose of those settings. :)
[15:49:24] wagnerrp: s/move/remove/
[15:56:18] dekarl: wagnerrp: that, too. But I can already imagine the outcry when someone actively does anything against MythWeb instead of passivly letting it die due to bitrot

[16:02:46] MartinT: it works...
[16:02:52] MartinT: need go faster
[16:03:11] MartinT: at the moment... not very performany
[16:04:14] stichnot: dekarl: I would mildly object to (but not veto) schema updates just to clean out a couple of old settings. Any mature DB has tons of old values lying around in the settings table, and schema updates make it that much harder to fix problems in non-master branches. Nicer would be to have a whitelist mechanism that automatically cleans out old settings with every schema update. (But take...
[16:04:16] stichnot: ...this with a grain of salt since I'm not willing to do the work at this point. :) )
[16:06:00] wagnerrp: carrying around four separate copies of the videometadata table is going to get very weighty and slow
[16:06:12] wagnerrp: what exactly are you trying to do?
[16:07:22] dekarl: stichnot: I'm holding back my (unrelated as it is about inetref in the guide) schema change to clean up some settings that have already cost me time
[16:08:18] dekarl: I like the whitelist and a housekeeper / bouncer that kicks out everything that is not on the guest list ;)
[16:09:31] wagnerrp: the problem there is that it then requires one central location to keep track of all settings being used in the entire application, plugins included
[16:10:51] wagnerrp: we could start requiring plugins preface all their settings with their plugin name

[17:38:05] peper03: dekarl: It's almost certainly something in the makefiles. I'm guessing my machine has picked up a local install of the libdvdnav/libdvdread headers. I'll try uninstalling them. I just had a large list of packages updating so it was blocked (typical!)
[17:48:36] dekarl: aye, manually running qmake in libmythdvdnav, then trying again worked way better
[17:51:33] peper03: What's the difference between DEPENDPATH and INCLUDEPATH? It works if I add dvdread to INCLUDEPATH but aren't header files dependencies?
[17:52:01] dekarl: I think they may be both
[17:52:56] dekarl: INCLUDEPATH is for the compiler to find the headers and DEPENDPATH would be for Make/Buildtool to know that changes to this content triggers "something"
[17:53:20] dekarl: or that is my understanding (without looking at the specific case or knowing details of qmake)

[18:07:45] MartinT: what I'm trying to do is get a list of all the TV shows in the videometadata table, then, for each of them, the season numbers that are present, then get the latest fanart, banner, and coverfile (at the moment it's just any fanart, etc.)
[18:08:10] MartinT: the idea is to expose it as a service api endpoint
[18:08:45] MartinT: for the purpose of providing a decent view in the WebFrontend

[18:37:22] dekarl: MartinT: otoh, one can argue for using the first and using the last episode... so at the end of the day it doesn't really matter
[18:37:51] MartinT: the idea is that the WebFrontend shouldn't need to build the tree
[18:38:15] MartinT: this will be able to provide a view similar to the TV/Films view mode in the library
[18:38:45] wagnerrp: it shouldn't be building the tree, the backend should be building the tree and serving up individual levels as requested by the web frontend
[18:38:45] MartinT: ideally, creating the ui in the WebFrontend the way it should be in the main ui.
[18:39:00] dekarl: What I don't like is that it adds new hardcoding to the primitive title/season#/episode# system :(
[18:39:50] MartinT: What I'm trying to do is provide an endpoint that will return a list of the TV shows in the library, the seasons that are there, and fanart et al for each of them
[18:39:59] wagnerrp: which is what i was describing weeks ago, move the tree-building from the frontend into the backend
[18:40:05] wagnerrp: so that logic is only hard coded in one place
[18:41:04] MartinT: yeah, i was thinking about that conversation... the issue is that I have no idea where to start with that.
[18:41:42] MartinT: the implementation could be changed when someone looks at moving that logic, but for the moment, all I'm trying to do is work on the WebFrontend

[21:01:40] stuarta: at least, that's why i installed it
