[01:38:15] stichnot: I don't know, but the Appearance setup seems to reload everything after you finish with it, and there is a jump point for reloading the theme, maybe one of those would serve as an example.

[04:11:57] Captain_Murdoch: jya, I don't think there's any issue with calling Create() more than once, it might be more of an issue with the commands you use inside your Create(). Create doesn't set any flags or anything, it is just required to return true if the setup was successful
[04:12:46] Captain_Murdoch: I'm not sure if LoadWindowFromXML() is safe to call a second time though. usually that's called within Create().
[04:12:52] jya: Captain_Murdoch: so it will cleanly deallocate what has been already allocated, and re-read the various global settings (like fontsize, screen resolution etc..) ?
[04:13:16] jya: LoadWindowFromXML is what I actually want to call more than once
[04:14:24] Captain_Murdoch: yeah, not sure about LoadWindowFromXML(), I'm not as familiar with the guts of that.
[04:14:33] jya: my problem is with the display within playback. The OSD actually force the size of the GUI to the video being played, create the theme, and then restore the previous GUI size… That's how it forces the themes to be recalculated for the video display
[04:15:39] jya: so I need to do something similar to dispay the notifications, but I've already created the screens the "standard" way already… I don't really want to maintain two sets of screen: one for main display, and the other for playback display
[04:15:48] jya: it's complicated enough already
[04:16:29] Captain_Murdoch: yeah, for the old painter, the screen is the size of the video, that's why the OSD resolution is horid for some people.
[04:18:45] jya: the other thing I'd like to know is if I can change the painter *after* the LoadWindowsFromXML.
[04:19:01] Captain_Murdoch: XMLParseBase has no local storage, only methods. I don't think all the objects created would be destroyed though since I think they only get cleaned up when the screen is destroyed.
[04:19:06] Captain_Murdoch: not sure about that.
[04:19:13] jya: The OSD create the MythScreen, then change the painter, and only then it calls Create
[04:20:14] jya: I see that the MythUIImage when it gets created, does heap of processing using the default painter; so that may not be good
[04:20:30] Captain_Murdoch: and it wouldn't be just 2 sets of screens considering you could have videos of multiple resolutions, so you'd have to either create on the fly or end up with multiple sets.
[04:20:37] jya: (BTW, the MythPainterQt crashes hard when I ask to display an image in my notification)
[04:20:47] Captain_Murdoch: I need to run, food is about to burn. :(

[04:40:35] wagnerrp: jya: i'm not sure i understand
[04:40:53] jya: let me push my changes, you can try by yourself...
[04:41:05] wagnerrp: you're saying '--mybooleanoption' is a boolean, so it complains about being given a value
[04:41:13] jya: that's right
[04:41:16] wagnerrp: but if it's the last argument, it just keeps cycling through GetOpt
[04:41:17] jya: nothing wrong with that
[04:41:22] jya: that's right
[04:41:32] jya: it starts displaying errors over errors, never stop
[04:42:14] jya: for the --notification tag, I've added a --fullscreen option boolean
[04:42:21] jya: if I do --fullscreen="false"
[04:43:13] jya: http://pastebin.com/bAWu7eZg
[04:43:23] jya: actually, it doesn't have to be last in the list...
[04:43:36] jya: doing --booleanoption="…" will loop forever
[04:44:10] jya: the arguments I had provided were: programs/mythutil/mythutil --notification --bcastaddr=127.0.0.1 --message_text="hello world" --timeout=5 --description="123" --progress=.5 --image="/Users/jyavenard/Desktop/IMG_2870.JPG" --progress_text="Done here" --fullscreen="false" --extra="extra"
[04:45:19] jya: actually, just mythutil --fullscreen="false"
[04:45:20] jya: is enough
[04:47:58] wagnerrp: yeah. the issue is that i'm trying to handle both '--fullscreen=false' and '--fullscreen false'
[04:48:24] wagnerrp: if i get a fault, i assume the second scenario, and drop back one to try to handle it
[04:48:35] wagnerrp: which just means i'm processing the same thing over
[04:48:46] jya: good luck :)
[04:49:57] wagnerrp: this block here... http://code.mythtv.org/cgit/mythtv/tree/mytht . . . er.cpp#n1571
[04:54:10] jya: can't you simply add a test that if the type is a boolean, you ignore anything after the = ?
[04:54:18] jya: so the case doesn't even occur
[04:58:15] wagnerrp: getOpt is ignorant of type
[04:58:47] jya: Captain_Murdoch: I've checked loadWindowFromXML, if called twice, it will leak as it will simply overrides all existing children that had been created earlier
[04:59:07] wagnerrp: better to check how many arguments were consumed, and only attempt that fallback mode if two separate ones were used, rather than one split with an equals
[04:59:16] jya: wagnerrp: well , you do show the message "boolean type option", so you know what is a boolean somewhere
[04:59:55] wagnerrp: line 1569, it tries to set the data to the CommandLineArg, and the arg refuses with that error
[05:00:22] wagnerrp: causing the parser loop to retry splitting them up
[05:00:53] wagnerrp: although it shouldn't report that error if it's going to try a second strategy

[16:23:15] bobweaver: say for the backend it just scans for _mythbackend-master._tcp"
[16:23:31] wagnerrp: a backend handles recording and storage, the master backend additionally handles scheduling and other such tasks
[16:23:41] wagnerrp: slave backends are any backend not operating as the master
[16:23:50] bobweaver: if any service is out there (on lan) then it returns a list of these server (foreach)
[16:24:18] bobweaver: cool thanks for explaining that to me wagnerrp I was wondering about that
[16:24:19] wagnerrp: the plan is to break that apart and make just a backend, and have the central scheduling and other tasks happen in a separate "controller" appliction
[16:24:41] wagnerrp: rather than have each backend decide on init whether it is master or slave
[16:24:44] bobweaver: makes sense
[16:24:48] wagnerrp: every backend would be a slave
[16:27:43] bobweaver: wagnerrp, some of the things that I am having troubles with are the schedual data. It is not coming back in the order by date Like for each channel say I use the API for getting 24 hours worth of data, the time that it comes back in are not in order. So I am going to have to write a cpp class to handle that I think. or fix the API so that it has a/de ccending calls to mysql
[16:29:24] bobweaver: That and I am making a engine that can convert all the themes that are already made into qml and sometimes the Tags in the XML do not match up. so I am going to have to make some switch /if /whatever class for that also
[16:29:48] bobweaver: IE reading the XML and rendering models
[16:30:02] wagnerrp: tags don't match up?
[16:30:34] wagnerrp: all themes are supposed to be checked against the document type definition before being put on the site
[16:30:44] wagnerrp: in theory, they should all be clean
[16:30:45] bobweaver: tags = stanza's or whatever they are called in xml like for say menu names and stuff like that
[16:31:25] wagnerrp: i think Captain_Murdoch has been doing that by hand
[16:32:00] wagnerrp: he was planning on writing some interface to make that happen automatically, but theme updates from authors never game quickly enough to make the effort worthwhile
[16:32:53] bobweaver: here is a example: <shape name="titlebox"> sometimes it is not called titlebox
[16:33:37] bobweaver: and I can not set id: aka name as a dynamic property
[16:34:11] bobweaver: where shape would = MythShape.qml
[16:34:52] papertigers (papertigers!~papertige@cpe-69-207-14-201.buffalo.res.rr.com) has quit (Quit: papertigers)
[16:35:19] bobweaver: also things like <area>-10,110,1300,10</area> these are ins / doubles and will not make for great Layering in say 5:4
[16:35:56] wagnerrp: i really don't know anything about the theme language to give any further advice on this subject
[16:37:36] bobweaver: because each theme is made for say 1800xwhatever and my engine is saying everything must be math. like width: someObject / 12 so that no matter what the size of the screen it auto adjusts for things like that
[16:39:50] bobweaver: wagnerrp, I should be done with the full sdk in 2 months or something like that, Like having a qtcreator version that is tailored for making mythtv themes in qml with wizards extrnal tools and a backend(VM) that is for testing
[16:40:53] ** bobweaver goes back to hacking **

[21:56:29] natanojl: stichnot, peper03: I've noticed that on some DVDs MythPlayer::textDisplayMode gets set to kDisplayNUVTeletextCaptions before the subtitles have been detected. It never changes after that which means I have to enable subtitles manually. Other DVDs seem to work because textDisplayMode have been set to kDisplayDVDButton before MythPlayer::NextCaptionTrack() is called. Any ideas to a fix?
