[00:15:08] bobweaver: here is the whole crazy picture http://summit.ubuntu.com/uds-1305/meeting/217 . . . lternatives/
[00:15:55] wagnerrp: all "cloud" means is you have the same old server you always did, but now someone else is managing it for you
[00:15:58] bobweaver: crazy things that might happen http://paste.ubuntu.com/5678925/
[00:16:07] bobweaver: ROTFLOL
[00:17:07] wagnerrp: someone was looking into migration to mariadb a few weeks ago
[00:17:56] bobweaver: It is crazy to think that on the Ubuntu Kick that they would even think that it is allright not to include these things in LTS
[00:18:20] bobweaver: gooUbuntu aka the ubuntu for google only uses LTS
[00:18:40] bobweaver: these are HUGE ammount of Ubuntu servers if not the highest
[00:18:52] bobweaver: 10 mill a second on crash
[00:19:06] wagnerrp: i figured they would have rolled their own distro at this point
[00:19:38] bobweaver: I am just hurt because I did so much with Ubuntu TV and them it all got shat on
[00:20:22] bobweaver: like make UI qml make ui NUX meanwhile I am fighting to make UI qml and stupid bug prown people want nux because it is in hpuse

[00:22:27] bobweaver: if you go through my youtube channel you can see it all un-fold lol I just looked at it. it is something that I can finally laugh at
[00:23:26] bobweaver: still not sure why they want to use NUX and that rendering type when qt is so powerful it is like they drooped the wrong thing due to # of people working in house

That said, but take this with a grain of salt since I don't use cable, as far as I know you would need to use a HdHomerun Prime or one of the Ceton tuners. There's also the possibility that not all of Comcast programming might be free to copy so even with those tuners and a cable card you might not be able to record everything...

[21:33:33] sphery_: stichnot: feel free to change it so the cut list options menu is always shown. I think I only did it to try to "balance" position of cut action menu items to allow navigation by muscle memory (MENU|UP|UP|SELECT or whatever), but that no longer works with the sometimes-on undo/redo stuff, so do what makes it easiest. It also sounds like the short menu thing you're doing could be used instead of the main menu in editing for muscle-memory users.
[21:35:17] sphery_ is now known as sphery
[21:38:24] sphery: gigem: Funny enough, we used to have an idiom where the SELECT button was the button that brought up a menu of actions that apply to the currently-selected item (i.e. shortcut/right-click/context menu) and MENU brought up the menu of actions for the screen/section/whatever. However, users told us that "MythTV's design is horrific because there's no reason you should have to use *2* menu keys." Thus, after years of whining, Watch Recordings ...
[21:38:30] sphery: ... was changed so that instead you have one MENU button that brings up different menus depending on what you've selected and/or how many times you press it (a.k.a. confusion).
[21:41:02] sphery: So far it's only been changed in Watch Recordings--but that actually makes it worse (since it works like before in Video Library, etc.). I, personally, liked it the old way and tried to convince users that having a context menu and a "main" menu makes sense, but I was never sucessfull at getting them to understand. I suppose it would have been easier if someone else, somewhere in the world, had decided to use context menus in their ...
[21:41:09] sphery: ... applications, too--like if LibreOffice or Gimp or MS Word or ... had shortcut menus...
[21:59:28] sphery: danielk22: QProcess bug: https://bugreports.qt-project.org/browse/QTBUG-5990 (still open)
[22:00:42] danielk22: sphery: Yeah, it was pointed out later. I'll add it to the MythSystem docs. Crazy that it is still open.
[22:03:22] sphery: ah, yeah, just got to where Bill mentioned it. And, yeah, Qt devs don't seem too interested in fixing many of the bugs that fix us.
[22:04:54] danielk22: I think the way it works is if you don't have a support contract you send in a patch if you want it fixed... there doesn't appear to be an overall code janitor team.
