[13:40:40] danielk22: stichnot: That would do it. ATM I'm more concerned about the insane memory use. We need to find a version before that issue and bisect to find the commit.

[13:45:21] stichnot: The performance problem is quite striking. The ION frontend jumps from ~10% CPU usage to over 100% when pressing PLAY or INFO. It's even approaching 100% when displaying closed captions.
[13:47:16] danielk22: stichnot: There is a separate cache for the text.. And it was leaking before..
[13:48:24] danielk22: Perhaps that code doesn't work without the leak... It would affect slow CPU's more as those are generated.
[13:49:16] danielk22: If we are regenerating the text images 30–60 times a second...
[13:50:50] stichnot: right. Same with the OSD status images when you press PLAY or ENTER during playback.
[13:56:23] stichnot: another useful data point: paused video (with OSD showing) is at 70%, drops down to 5% after clearing the OSD

[14:14:15] Defense|Twin: Hi, I try to connect my mythtv box with my android tablet... With the right player it works nice to browse an play content from mythtv on the tablet. The App MediaHouse also displays that mythtv can be used as a dlna-renderer, but sadly mediahouse doesn't work at all with mythtv. So has anyone experiences using mythtv as an dlna renderer, knows a good app for connecting mythtv with android or any helpful hint?

[17:10:43] stichnot: danielk22, sphery: I'd like to find a starting point for "git bisect", but I believe it will be several DB schema changes ago, particularly pre-UTC. I can backup/restore the DB, and hack the DBSchemaVer, but I don't want recordings files created or removed during the testing, i.e. model a playback-only backend. I should disable recordings (delete all recording rules? delete all input...
[17:10:46] stichnot: ...connections?), disable the housekeeper (how?), anything else?

[22:40:07] stichnot: danielk22, Beirdo: I did as much git bisecting as I could. The latest "good" commit is [79dc4b50] and the earliest "bad" commit is [f8402886]. All the intervening commits (according to the gitk view) are related to the new logging stuff, but trying a few random points, it either wouldn't build, or I couldn't get the backend to start up.
[22:42:35] stichnot: This is with respect to the ever-growing mythbackend memory footprint. I observe the growth by running top and watching the VIRT column while 3 remote frontends are playing the same recording. Post-logging merge, the size grows by about 1MB every 5 seconds.
