[01:22:50] gigem: markk: re custom rules, i think you're running into a usability issue/misunderstanding on how that screen works. after choosing the sample clause you want to use, you need to press ENTER to have it added to the working sql. you can then move down the screen and further edit the sql manually as needed.
[01:22:54] gigem: stuartm: re series recording, i understand your desire. hell, if seriesids were universally supported, i'd probably make the changes myself. they aren't, however, and i fear trying to support both title and series recording rules would be very difficult to maintain and even harder to provide user support. i'm willing to be convice otherwise, though. if you can modify your local copy to do the basics of what you want, i'd be happy to look at the
[01:22:56] gigem: patch and then possibly go from there.
[01:33:30] danielk22: markk: The ceton recorder handles rtsp frames, but it may be a subset and it uses gcc extensions to handle it. I recommend avoiding live555.. it's a single man endeavor and that guy doesn't play well with others.

[02:09:04] iamlindoro: What is "videodescrip"?
[02:09:34] sphery: gigem / davide : I apologize for not having actually looked into it, yet, but would serieslink/seriesid recording be possible with your new filter stuff? (Can it pull some value out of a program to use in the rule?) If so, might be a nice compromise that allows its use, but still uses the (should be, everywhere, though it sounds like they're saying it's not in the UK) more-reliable title record as default.
[02:09:43] Seeker`: iamlindoro: statetype, returns 'SD', 'HD_720_P' etc
[02:09:51] Seeker`: accessible in OSD.xml
[02:09:53] sphery: I really should have gotten around to investigating your new filter code by now
[02:10:09] iamlindoro: No, the resolution is not available in any myth video view
[02:10:18] iamlindoro: it's available in the OSD because the file is already open for decode
[02:14:18] Seeker`: iamlindoro: is it possible to have more than one copy of the imagetype fanart on a page?
[02:14:54] iamlindoro: It's not possible to have more than one of any dynamically filled image type in mythui, fan art included

[02:19:20] iamlindoro: Probably, none of the names are going to change, so try using them
[02:19:24] iamlindoro: if they don't work, you're right
[02:19:40] iamlindoro: But you really ought to ask your theming questions in -theming

[02:20:08] Seeker`: over 2 hours ago
[02:20:12] iamlindoro: I don't see you asking the question about "videodescrip" in theming
[02:20:42] iamlindoro: Please keep the theming talk there, just because you're waiting doesn't make this the right place

[02:57:27] gigem: sphery: no, it's not currently possible. look at the 'This episode" filter, though. it's along the line of what i think your thinking. the problem is non-search rules still have to match on title before the filters would be applied. i suppose we could add a new way to create a search rule and automatically enable a 'This series' filter. i don't see that as being any easier, though, than creating a new custom rule — if all that matters is
[02:57:28] gigem: matching on seriesid, it'd only be a few key strokes. hmm, after more thought, we could try going through all of the releavent code and sql and change all occurences of "if (title == other.title)" and related to something like "if (title == other.title || (seriesid <> '' && seriesid == other.seriesid))" and see what the impact would be. i don't have time to do that right now, though. stuartm: that might be something you could try.

[12:12:29] Seeker`: any suggestions on how to make the title of the currently playing item available to osd_status while both being consistent with the other OSD windows and not breaking every theme? And is there a reason not to SetUpdateOSDPosition(true) when program_info is displayed?
[12:25:18] markk: Seeker`: no reason no to set SetUpdateOSDPosition – at the moment that window just doesn't expect a progress bar that would need updating.
[12:28:10] markk: wrt to osd_status – have a look at tv_play and grep for osd->SetText("osd_status". everywhere the osd_status is updated, you should just need to add the program title into the map (I think)
[12:30:34] Seeker`: woukd it not be better to put it in to the map whwn it is created?

[12:34:19] jya (jya!~jyavenard@mythtv/developer/jya) has quit (Client Quit)
[12:37:40] markk: Seeker`: yeah – sure. the main concern would be performance (and this ties into using SetUpdateOSDPosition for program_info as well) . PlayerContext::GetPlayingInfoMap is potentially expensive and additionally requires the osd window to iterate through a large number of strings looking for matches to update.
[12:38:15] markk: of course, I've not tested it – so may not be an issue on anything remotely modern.
[12:39:42] Seeker`: yah, thats what i was wondering . i wanted to try to make a theme where all of the info was displayed on the screen, with just the info appearing extra on the program_info window
[12:41:10] markk: easy way to test initially – just add a call to GetPlayingInfoMap in PlayerContext::CalcPlayerSliderPosition
[12:45:52] Seeker`: will have a look at that after work
[12:48:59] Seeker`: markk thanks for the suggestions
[12:49:05] markk: np
[13:00:48] stuartm: sphery: title record isn't always perfect, titles do occasionally get additions made to them, e.g. 'Top Gear' specials e.g. 'Top Gear in India', but you also have problems with two different series (or films) with the same name, e.g. when I set up a rule last year to record the modern version of 'V' it also recorded all the episodes of the original 80s series which were being repeated at the same time
[13:03:26] stuartm: seriesid is what all makes and models of Freeview/Freesat PVRs use in the UK, it's a standard and not a proprietary system, it's functionality that a UK user expects their PVR to support
[13:04:28] stuartm: if we supported seriesid recording rules in the UK we can also hookup the MHEG stuff that allows a user to schedule a recording of a series just by pressing a button (red/yellow/green or blue) during a commercial for that show

[13:08:36] stuartm: I don't mind how it's actually handled internally by the scheduler, whether by filter or otherwise but I really don't see the harm in presenting UK users with a 'Series Record' type/button/one-touch function
[13:09:44] stuartm: not only would it be familiar but the simplicity passes the 'granny' test which is important to those of us who figured it was a good idea (oops) to build MythTV setups for relatives

[20:06:09] tgm4883: hmm, doesn't look like there has been a build since Jan 5/6
[20:06:58] tgm4883: doesn't look like there has been an upstream change since before then
[20:07:34] tgm4883: It's possible we've fixed the packaging, but there hasn't been an upsteam commit to the 0.24 branch to force a rebuild
[20:08:40] tgm4883: superm1, any way we can force a build when there hasn't been an upstream change?
[20:08:49] superm1: i can try to manually force a rebuild, but i think the scripts might not like that
[20:09:00] tgm4883: superm1, yea I don't think they will upload it
[20:09:38] superm1: maybe it's worthwhile to add something to them if an environment variable is set to allow forced rebuilds do it
[20:10:17] tgm4883: possibly, wouldn't that require a version bump though?
[20:12:56] superm1: well as long as it's not done on the same day, that's ok
[20:13:13] tgm4883: superm1, for the orig.tar.gz though?
[20:13:22] tgm4883: that wouldn't have date in it does it?
[20:13:45] tgm4883: oh wait, I guess it does
[20:13:53] tgm4883: superm1, are you going to kick off a build or should I?
[20:16:28] superm1: the script needs logic added
[20:16:35] superm1: to allow for forced rebuilds
[20:16:42] superm1: so let me add that first
[20:17:00] tgm4883: for what part?
[20:17:08] tgm4883: ok

[21:33:24] natanojl: stuartm: I like your suggestion regarding the animation XML. I'll probably start to implement it during the weekend, but right now it's time for bed
[21:33:32] superm1: tgm4883: cool looks like the force rebuild worked
[21:34:12] tgm4883: superm1, nice, took forever though
[21:34:34] superm1: even though the debuild flags were fixed I think it still tries to upload orig.tar.gz over and over
[21:41:56] ** Seeker` wonders where the animation XML idea was **
[21:43:04] natanojl: Seeker`: http://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/10256
[21:46:36] Seeker`: would it be possible/easy to apply it to more than just windows?
[21:46:49] Seeker`: e.g. imagetypes
[21:54:34] natanojl: It's possible to apply to all UI types, but right now the only trigger is showing/hiding windows
[21:55:39] natanojl: Seeker`: Anyway, time for bed. I'll check the logs if you have more questions
[21:56:55] Seeker`: natanojl: nn :)
