[02:25:23] Beirdo: I'm on it. missed }
[02:25:56] Beirdo: next time, remember to test compile on BOTH linux-x86 and -ppc, tard.
[02:26:24] Beirdo: that was the only part I only did on the x86 for test compile, and sure enought, it bit my butt.
[02:27:00] Beirdo: the fix is in the buildbot queue
[02:40:56] wagnerrp: is there any way we can sent commits to the build bot before sending them to github?
[02:41:04] Beirdo: no
[02:41:23] wagnerrp: svn had pre-commit-hooks
[02:41:49] wagnerrp: if we were running our own git repo, could we pass inbound commits to the build bots, and make the commit pending on the results?
[02:42:12] Beirdo: I believe so, but not while github is our official repo
[02:42:25] Beirdo: not sure we want to do that though
[02:42:43] Beirdo: for instance... a full build on ppc takes 2h
[02:43:04] Beirdo: you really want to hold off every commit by up to 2h?
[02:44:05] wagnerrp: no, i suppose not
[02:45:17] Beirdo: it's something to consider, but I think it will be a bit too draconian in the end
[02:53:14] Beirdo: and I'm betting the Windows and OSX builds may not be as fast as we'd want either :(

[03:05:47] Beirdo: finally.
[03:08:10] Captain_Murdoch: stuartm, good idea. we do need a way to allow the user to change the slave's master or make the slave the master, but we could possibly do that from the master itself.
[03:09:06] wagnerrp: well presumably all slaves would be able to do so, in case the master is not accessible
[03:09:07] Captain_Murdoch: wagnerrp, if we go with the mythtvd approach that spawns off other processes, then it would probably be the one that had the http server for a slave, so no need to configure mythjobqueue which would be spawned and kept running by mythtvd.
[03:09:33] Captain_Murdoch: yeah, we can always make a way to make a machine the master
[03:10:11] Captain_Murdoch: possibly just running the master binary with a special command line option
[03:11:13] taylorr: it seems like the delay that causes pauses is around 270ms every time
[03:11:25] Captain_Murdoch: mythmaster --make-me-the-master-I-really-mean-it-do-it-now-I-said
[03:11:29] Beirdo: interesting number
[03:13:13] Captain_Murdoch: taylorr, thanks for feedback on that patch. I'm probably going to reverse the check logic, so that we always kick to the background thread unless the file is local. that's easier than checking for myth:// http:// https:// ftp:// which is all the locations an image could be other than local.
[03:13:29] Captain_Murdoch: s/is/are/

[07:00:05] Beirdo: danielk22: whenever you're in... the tspacket.h warnings seem to be pointing to a real bug. We seem to be reading and writing outside of the array.
[07:01:02] Beirdo: Just wondering if you recall how this is supposed to be working, as a code read seems to show that it is in fact a bit wonky. Not sure why we never seem to crash because of it, but whatever
[07:01:48] Beirdo: I'm betting it used to be pointing at something in memory, and then the code got reoganized after
[07:25:31] Beirdo: I think I've figured it out, but I'm certainly going to want another set of eyes on this.
[07:28:26] Beirdo: it was working as the reinterpret_case from char * -> TSPacket * put the first 4 bytes as the header and the next 184 bytes as payload. Then we read from header[4] which = payload-0=
[07:28:45] Beirdo: payload[0] rather, as in they are the same byte in memory
[07:29:42] Beirdo: so the proper fix to remove the warning is to recalculate the AFCOffset using _tspacket[] rather than the header's _data[]

[09:29:24] markk: jya: I suspect that 2x deinterlacing and VDPAU are red-herrings. other than that, I can't see anything that would cause that problem and haven't see it myself. https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/commit/a0bb5e9a5fdbba is a possibility but he says that the problems started before that.
[09:30:14] jya: jpabq: also sees the audio repeat ; I believe he's using vdpau, and he mentioned it started recently
[09:30:28] markk: I can't possibly see how we would be triggering anything that loops the audio
[09:31:28] jya: me neither... only thing left to try for me now is reverting those alsa changes in setting up the audio buffer ; I've sent him the patch.. we'll see.. (but how the audio buffer is set is exactly how mplayer does it... )
[09:31:40] markk: jya: there have been vdpau changes in trunk but nothing in fixes
[09:32:34] jya: it's so frustrating.. I'm getting nowhere ; trying to fix a problem I don't have myself.. ready to throw the towel
[09:33:28] markk: jya: he doesn't say in that post, but do you know if he just updated myth – or drivers etc as well?
[09:33:56] jya: that's true... I'm seeing weird things with recent kernel...
[09:37:42] markk: jya: don't know if it is relevant, but in http://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/9344#comment:27 he mentions that he is using HDMI audio
[09:38:51] jya: so is jpabq ... With hdmi it's using LPCM audio ; when AC3 rencoding is used : then he has audio corruption in the front speakers

[15:52:32] danielk221: Beirdo: Just FYI the TSHeader is never allocated as an object by itself, it's always a reinterpret cast on top of a 188 byte or larger chunk of memory. That's why both TSPacket and TSHeader are a bit "different" they provide a C++ veneer over what might otherwise be some ugly C code (see mpegts.{cpp,h} in ffmpeg).

[20:09:02] Beirdo: danielk221: how is it less efficient to read from _tspayload[] rather than _data[]?
[20:10:28] Beirdo: the compiler is correct. The fact that we don't use TSHeader other than in TSPacket is irrelevant, really, the code in TSPacket is assuming that, and at some point it will bite us hard.
[20:11:39] Beirdo: the only end change I'm considering is to read from _tsheader[AFCOffset-4] rather than data()[AFCOffset]
[20:11:49] Beirdo: (and write to)

[20:17:16] Beirdo: Captain_Murdoch: Cool, I'll leave it in your fine hands
[20:18:01] Beirdo: danielk221: I reverted my first attempt anyways, it works the same in the end code, and the optimizer saw right through it. Stupid me, testing with a debug build :)
[20:18:31] Beirdo: let me rebase the "final" fix here and repost a URL to the patch

[20:22:13] Beirdo: I didn't want to change anything in AFCOffset() as that is used elsewhere to actually read from the beginning of the packet. The only change is to StartOfFieldPointer() and SetStartOfFieldPointer() to use the payload part (which is where that data actually is)
