[00:03:00] leprechau: wtf is going on with freenode...this is the only network I keep dropping from
[00:03:25] kormoc: Beirdo, looks like it's time to remove the ban on leprechau for #mythtv-users
[00:03:52] leprechau:'s bnc keeps saying I'm excess flooding :/
[00:04:36] Beirdo: ahh, he's back
[00:04:42] leprechau: blah
[00:04:43] Beirdo: OK, will do
[00:04:46] leprechau: going to close it and restart it
[00:04:52] leprechau: see if that helps
[00:04:54] iamlindoro: leprechau, you have > 10 auto-join channels?
[00:05:06] leprechau: im fine on efnet and undernet :/
[00:05:10] iamlindoro: I'm asking
[00:05:17] iamlindoro: efnet and undernet aren't freenode
[00:05:34] leprechau: yes
[00:05:34] iamlindoro: If you have too many auto-joins, freenode will bump you off... and your auto-rejoin ruins our day
[00:05:38] leprechau: 21 here on freenode
[00:05:42] iamlindoro: you need to trim it
[00:06:00] kormoc: or set your flood protection much stricter
[00:18:54] markk: iamlindoro: I'd start on getting those images converted to QImage/rgb next – easy enough to test whether that is working before the osd code is dropped in – just use QImage::save(...)
[00:22:16] iamlindoro: markk, I'm not handling some event right at the moment-- I've lost the ability to seek/navigate in the playing film, but I think it's just some basic thing I'm not doing right. Going to try to get that fixed up, then I'll work on outputting the images as you mention
[00:22:18] stuartm: what are they now? yuv?
[00:22:56] iamlindoro: RLE
[00:23:21] iamlindoro: (ergo the unused rlep var)

[00:24:01] markk: stuartm: late night?
[00:24:14] markk: or early start:)
[00:24:31] stuartm: late night, I hadn't actually noticed the time :)
[00:25:03] markk: heh – I'd forgotten the clocks had changed. not that late I guess
[00:25:17] stuartm: not yet :)
[00:26:24] stuartm: RLE is exotic
[00:26:33] Beirdo: markk: I punted the Windows OpenGL/DirectX patches to you as I figured you'd be the best to know if/how this fits in with your ongoing work there
[00:26:54] markk: Beirdo: yeah – no problem. was going to grab them anyway
[00:26:57] Beirdo: it was giving them to nigel (for the Windows Port), but :)
[00:27:15] Beirdo: Cool. :)
[00:29:37] iamlindoro: stuartm, I just work here ;)
[00:30:51] stuartm: iamlindoro: I don't know why, the pay and hours suck
[00:31:03] iamlindoro: heh
[00:31:24] Beirdo: and the coworkers like to argue, complain, and generally be jerks like me :0
[00:32:53] markk: iamlindoro: I take it RLE is just a compression mechanism and underneath its paletted YUV?
[00:33:21] iamlindoro: markk, I believe that's exactly correct, the overlay struct includes palette information
[00:33:59] stuartm: there is, or used to be a windows RLE bitmap format, but I very much doubt they use that instead of YUV or similar

[00:58:20] iamlindoro: thanks
[01:00:01] ** iamlindoro has seen the Paramount pre-roll a... lot... tonight **
[01:00:20] stuartm: it's possibly not the most efficient way of handling that feature, in as much as we're storing the strings twice, once in the metadata object and again in the node but it was quick and easy to implement it this way and it's not tied to one particular usage of the widget
[01:00:39] stuartm: I'll add statetype support soon
[01:01:04] iamlindoro: nice
[01:03:26] stuartm: well that mythvideo example has the image paths wrong, seems the url we get from ->GetScreenshot() etc isn't the full path

[05:36:20] jya: i've backported r27273, because of this initial error displayed with invalid audio parameters. Most late reports have logs stopping at that display... not really a bug fix, but definitely confusing for the user
[05:36:36] Beirdo: yeah
[05:37:08] Beirdo: I've been noticing that. This should decrease the bogus bugs, I hope :)
[05:48:03] jya: hope so... there are genuine bugs, but they usually only quote that "disabling audio" logs...
[05:50:00] jya: it had been annoying me for a while.. Not the best fix really, audio should be created differently in the playback flow

[05:55:35] jya: running away with shame
[05:55:42] Beirdo: it was an easy one. I looked at it and went.. oooh. that's why valgrind is whining
[05:56:49] Beirdo: easy to miss without valgrind's whining though :)
[05:57:48] jya: Does valgrind actually detect that, or it's through some kind of code analysis ?
[05:58:45] jya: i'm actually surprise it would actually ever encounter the case where the value isn't found in the list
[05:59:51] jya: there's always 1 and 2 in the list.
[06:02:13] Beirdo: well, it detects the *it when it's at end()
[06:02:30] Beirdo: which is reading from end() which is actually pointing off the list
[06:03:06] Beirdo: so by just checking for end() first.. well, endr() in this case... we don't dereference off the list
[06:03:43] Beirdo: that's the one it detected
[06:05:36] jya: no
[06:05:50] jya: rend point at the last entry
[06:05:55] jya: not after the list
[06:06:39] jya: "rend refers to the character right before the one that would be referred to by member begin."
[06:06:55] Beirdo: right
[06:07:02] jya: oops
[06:07:03] Beirdo: begin is the beginning of the list

[06:32:42] Beirdo: valgrind is whining in there too
[06:33:31] Beirdo: in particular, it is where we resize a QByteArray, split it, resize it again, then do endsWith
[06:33:58] Beirdo: the problem being, if you resize a QByteArray to be larger, the new space is uninitialized
[06:34:27] Beirdo: I don't see why we are doing this in the first place.
[06:34:54] Beirdo: I would think doing truncate, split, endsWith would have the same effect
[06:35:33] Beirdo: but I'm just confused
[06:35:45] Beirdo: I guess I'll open a ticket, and let him look at it

[20:36:21] j-rod: its one of two issues I'm hitting at home now
[20:36:35] Beirdo: yes. :)
[20:36:44] Beirdo: I have a fix for MPEG2-TS
[20:36:44] j-rod: the other being an easily reproduced segfault when scanning for audio devices
[20:37:11] Beirdo: the MPEG2-PS one is still being a bit of a pain to get perfected, but I have it to a point where it *works*
[20:37:14] aloril (aloril! has quit (Ping timeout: 264 seconds)
[20:37:38] Beirdo: the issue seems to be that we are storing the incorrect offset while building the in-recording seektable.
[20:37:47] j-rod: is there a ticket for that?
[20:37:53] Beirdo: it was recording the offset AFTER the packet in question
[20:38:00] Beirdo: no, but we could open one.
[20:38:16] Beirdo: for TS it's easy as it's packetized to a known size
[20:38:28] j-rod: yeah, probably wouldn't hurt to spin up a ticket
[20:38:35] Beirdo: PS, we need to get the beginning of the frame correctly...
[20:39:01] Beirdo: OK, I'll get one in there, clean up my current patches and attach them for further review
[20:39:20] j-rod: gravy. please feel free to cc me on it too, I can haz testing
[20:39:35] Beirdo: the simple fix is to mythcommflag --rebuild
[20:40:21] Beirdo: but it would be nice to have the seektable match what a rebuild gives
[20:40:29] j-rod: that seems sub-optimal :)
[20:40:44] Beirdo: yeah
[20:40:57] j-rod: though still not as suboptimal as my gt220 that I can't get any audio out of
[20:41:03] Beirdo: I have TS fixed to the point where the seektable matches before and after a rebuild
[20:41:06] Beirdo: oh?
[20:41:08] Beirdo: mine works
[20:41:24] j-rod: there are a few threads about it. works on some cards, notsomuch on others.
[20:41:33] j-rod: may or may not require some gross modprobe options
[20:41:41] j-rod: I have a few more things to try tonight
[20:41:46] Beirdo: options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=0 probe_mask=-1,0xfff2
[20:42:15] j-rod: yep, that'd be part of the puzzle I have yet to try
[20:42:37] Beirdo: with alsa I think I needed alsa 1.0.23 as well
[20:42:49] j-rod: but on top of that, mythtv segfaults when scanning audio devices
[20:42:57] Beirdo: although, it's listing 1.0.22 as installed
[20:43:20] j-rod: yeah, I have a rather mutant kernel… rhel6 + my own patches, out-of-tree alsa and out-of-tree v4l/dvb/ir

[21:34:45] Beirdo: we could have if we needed it, but meh.
[21:34:46] jannau: wasn't SVCD just DVD on CDR?
[21:34:56] Beirdo: yes, it supported menu
[21:35:17] Captain_Murdoch: yeah, I know, just messing with you. external support should get boiled down to a single setting for the name of the external player and a menu item to play an item with that player.
[21:35:26] Captain_Murdoch: jannau, nah, 480x480, not even DVD quality.
[21:35:27] Beirdo: SVCD was higher bitrate/resolution MPEG2 (rather than MPEG1)

[21:42:14] stuartm: for the space they use I'd assume anyone serious about keeping their VCD/SVCD will probably be better off ripping them, the diskspace they use is considerably less than the equivalent length recording
[21:43:25] wagnerrp: anyone serious about keeping their VCD/SVCD will probably have already ripped them, or else theyve been lost to discrot
