[00:01:31] knightr: stuartm, good night and thank you! (and BTW thank you for reminding me that because a word is already used in MythTV it's not necessarily a word earlier today... :) )
[00:04:45] jpabq: Gawd! Theming (or testing a theme against) mytharchive sucks.
[00:07:37] stuartm: jpabq: heh, everyone has said that
[00:07:59] knightr: jpabq, my fellow French language translation team member got back to me, he prefers to avoid the word I suggested since it's a neologism but he suggested other words we could use to shorten the sentence instead (I wondered if he noticed we already used the word he prefers not to use though... :) )
[00:08:16] stuartm: I just ignore it when I create a theme, helps that I don't use it so I've no real incentive to work on it
[00:08:42] knightr: Is MythArchive that bad (I've never used it)?
[00:08:55] jpabq: stuartm, I have not used it since it was first added. I was trying to make my theme as complete as possible, though.
[00:09:46] jpabq: knightr, from a theme point of view it is the worst. How many different subtle ways can you define what is essentially the same window — and make the themer theme each and every one of those variations.
[00:09:48] stuartm: knightr: lots of screens, complicated and crowded UI
[00:10:10] stuartm: it could be so much simpler than it is
[00:11:52] knightr: LOL... Does it work OK though?
[00:12:11] knightr: jpabq, does that mean you will theme MythZoneminder as well? :)
[00:12:30] knightr: (does anybody actually theme MythZoneminder?)
[00:12:32] jpabq: knightr, Not as far as I can tell. In trying to test my theme, I have repeated tried to test creation of an archive, and not been successful.
[00:12:55] jpabq: knightr, I would, if I knew how. I have not clue how to make MythZoneminder work.
[00:13:10] jpabq: s/not/no/
[00:13:20] jpabq: Same with mythgame
[00:13:26] knightr: jpabq, I think you need an install of ZoneMinder to make it work...
[00:14:24] stuartm: jpabq: mythgame is lousy but very simple, it's not much different to mythnews
[00:14:35] knightr: MythGame I have used in the past and it's not that bad to make it work, Zoneminder I tried to play a little with it but had problems...
[00:15:01] stuartm: lousy because it's unmaintained and lacks any sort of polish
[00:16:34] jpabq: Doesn't mythgame require "roms". Where do you get those?
[00:17:20] knightr: jpabq, you don't need roms, you can make it run emulators like scummvm without too much work..
[00:17:34] stuartm: jpabq: you don't actually need them, you can create a few empty files with the right extension – touch Pacman.rom (or whatever extensions it looks for)
[00:17:43] knightr: (though IIRC you have to trick it into thinking there's are ROM files...)
[00:18:41] knightr: s/'s//
[00:18:45] jpabq: Okay. I may give theming mythgame a go, just to be more complete. I don't think I will bother with zoneminder.
[00:31:29] knightr: jpabq, you appear to have modify quite a few things in that area, is the issue reported in this ticket still present: http://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/9295 ?
[00:34:40] jpabq: knightr, I completely re-wrote that part of the code a few months ago (to enable multi-line text edits). Cutdown is done with a completely different algorithm now. As fare as the stretch/shrink part of that ticket goes, I can look at it, but not going to happen for 0.25
[00:43:21] knightr: jpabq, ah, though so (that it was at least partially adressed), that was the ticket I was referring to earlier by the way... The code there surely no longer applies but the stretch/shrink idea, if it looks OK, could help both themers and translators alike (but yes, you're rigjht now is not the time to address this...)
[00:44:22] knightr: s/modify/modified (I'm not doing translatiion work tonight that's for sure, the thing would be full of typos.. :) )
[00:45:47] jpabq: knightr, :-) Yeah, I am about to call it a night myself. I think I will go read a book.
[00:47:21] jpabq: knightr, do you want me to email you an updated Steppes? I am still finding places that need tweaked, but it is getting pretty good.
[00:47:57] knightr: jpabq, Good night and thank you! If you have modifications to your theme you want me to test let me know... I could probably test MythGame as well if you theme it as my MythGame install is probably still working (or it wouldn't need much work to make it work..)
[00:49:09] knightr: jpabq, LOL... We had the same idea... :-)
