[17:13:12] mengoshmink: if you export that file to your desktop PC then run the script on it locally does it work?

[19:03:49] [R]: rpi for a backend is pretty crappy
[19:03:51] mengoshmink: I think you can use a rpi as a FE but not a BE
[19:04:25] mengoshmink: oh btw Kwisher upgrade worked, so well I forgot to say thanks
[19:04:27] solars: due to what exactly?
[19:04:41] [R]: it being a piece of crap?
[19:05:03] mengoshmink: hardware architecture eg hardware video decoding etc I think
[19:05:34] solars: hmm I see

[19:10:55] mengoshmink: http://planetgary.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/myth . . . erry-pi.html
[19:13:14] solars: I don't usually record, but sometimes when I'm not home I'd like to save a movie or so
[19:13:22] solars: can't really judge how much that needs
[19:14:22] [R]: then what do you do with myth if you're not recording...
[19:14:23] [R]: lol
[19:14:36] solars: well I said sometimes :)
[19:14:43] mengoshmink: I find with MythTV good hardware is important. If you have good hardware then things work if you have under powered stuff
[19:14:43] [R]: then what arey ou doing the other times
[19:14:47] [R]: just having it sit and ccollect dust?
[19:15:06] mengoshmink: I mostly use the video library less recording and very little if any live tv
[19:15:18] solars: I use the machine for streaming as well
[19:15:27] solars: yeah, things like that

[19:25:57] dekarl: if someone wants to play with small arm thingys as backends, there are systems with gbit ethernet and sata on their own busses instead of everything on a single usb2 port... https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/ARM_Systems <- update welcome
[19:29:34] Kwisher: why was userjob definitions removed from mythweb?
[19:35:05] dekarl: mythweb is going the way of the dodo. I'm not sure that anything has been actively removed. maybe it broke and no one repaired it?
[19:35:54] Kwisher: it was there before the latest updates
[19:35:57] mengoshmink: what!? I rely on MythWeb
[19:36:04] Kwisher: no kidding

[19:37:45] dekarl: It is using old technology and is a pain to maintain, so it needs a rewrite. Its being rewritten to run directly in the backend service and get more features for newer browser turning into a Webfrontend
[19:38:12] dekarl: https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/WebFrontend
[19:38:27] mengoshmink: ah true, that is why I wanted to upgrade, to see if I could get the hang of WebFrontend
[19:38:38] mengoshmink: panic over, for now
[19:38:52] dekarl: I rely on MythWeb myself ;)

[19:39:38] mengoshmink: I use MythWeb to download recordings from my server to my desktop pc
[19:40:55] dekarl: hmm, you can always use one of the export userjobs (with or without cutting / other processing)
[19:41:34] knightr (knightr!~knightr@mythtv/developer/knightr) has quit (Ping timeout: 248 seconds)
[19:42:03] dekarl: or just download it via the Webfrontend https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/WebFrontend#Recordings
[19:42:50] mengoshmink: give me a chance, I only upgraded to 0.28 a few hours ago
[19:42:59] mengoshmink: I want to fix my channel icons first
[19:43:44] dekarl: ahh, that's a pain, too.
[19:44:01] mengoshmink: it's a lot better than it used to be
[19:44:41] dekarl: do you do SQL? then just strip the paths in the database and move all files to ~mythtv/.mythtv/channels (IIRC)
[19:45:18] Kwisher: found the userjob info in the API menu, how do i retrieve what;s already there and then edit it?

[19:46:15] mengoshmink: that is sort of what I used to do
[19:46:17] dekarl: yours could be the first :)
[19:46:17] Kwisher: says use ajax to retrieve
[19:48:07] Kwisher: so now i have to shutdown the backend and do it in the b/e setup???
[19:48:09] Kwisher: grrrr

[19:57:02] Kwisher: openelec also
[19:58:42] solars: on the clients you mean?
[19:59:05] Kwisher: yes, pi on a tv
[19:59:19] solars: and server?
[20:00:04] Kwisher: depends on the content
[20:00:17] Kwisher: just media files?
[20:00:52] solars: no, tv streams on the tuner card
[20:00:58] solars: no media files at all
