[00:08:14] mikeyandmary: Hello, is there a way to lookup movie metadata using the TMDB number rather than the "automatic" Retrieve Details option? I am using 0.27 and have some movies that the tmdb3.py script can't look up because it causes a "list out of range" error. Thanks
[00:12:13] wagnerrp: sounds like an error that has since been fixed
[00:12:17] wagnerrp: try updating 0.27
[00:12:33] wagnerrp: and to answer your question directly, i believe it is in the 'i' menu
[00:14:40] mikeyandmary: It used to be in the i menu but it's hasn't been there since I upgraded to 0.27. I thought I have the current version. I pressed "about" in mythtv and it says Revision:v0.27-125-g7f548de Branch: fixes/0.27
[00:17:16] mikeyandmary: Also, I thought tmdb3.py was the problem so I downloaded the latest version but nothing changed.
[00:19:35] wagnerrp: downloaded the latest version?
[00:22:46] wagnerrp: anyway, that issue should be fixed as of +109... http://code.mythtv.org/cgit/mythtv/commit/myt . . . 810c6133aa29

[00:24:40] wagnerrp: the correct answer to that question is "use mythtv 0.26 or newer"
[00:29:42] wagnerrp: mikeyandmary: if you're still having that problem post 109, what specific movie are you searching for?
[00:33:57] mikeyandmary: South Pacific (TMDB#17352), Red Dog (TMDB#66125). Whenever I search for these ubuntu tells me that tmdb3.py has crashed and the error is list index out of range

[00:38:29] mikeyandmary: what would need to be reinstalled to fix it? Can I get the latest tmdb3.py and replace the one that's currently being used?

[01:07:09] no_name: ok.. so I installed originally with the mythbuntu-control-centre... will I break everything (e.g. my database) by upgrading?

[01:17:10] unknown-owner: hi all, was wondering if anyone can help shed some light on my problem. I have a htpc with the Ceton 4 PCIe with a Comcast cablecard that I can't for the life of me get any livetv. It appears to be working correctly as it sees all my 555 channels but all I get is a this message when I tune to any channel: Signal Lock 100% | (TL_ ) Partial Lock
[01:17:28] andyman53: I get that too
[01:17:35] andyman53: thats what happens, it just says TL partial lock
[01:18:19] unknown-owner: My system with the same hardware works with WMC (I reloaded a backuped image to verifiy). LiveTV works in WMC but not Mythtv
[01:18:46] unknown-owner: glad to see I'm not the only one getting this error.
[01:20:13] unknown-owner: I've been trying to solve this for 2 weeks on my own but no luck. Decided to come on here and see if anyone can help. I have downgraded and upgraded the firmware on my ceton, still nothing.

[01:22:19] andyman53: cat /dev/ctn_xxx | mplayer
[01:22:24] andyman53: thats after you tune it on the web interface

[01:22:37] unknown-owner: doens't work for me
[01:22:53] andyman53: do you do it as mythtv?

[01:30:28] andyman53: did you tune to the channel first via 192.168.200.1?
[01:30:56] andyman53: for mpeg0_0 thats tuner 1, then go to tuner, set it to a channel you know you get and then go back and cat the device
[01:32:47] unknown-owner: yeah did that. tried different channels too
[01:35:27] andyman53: strange
[01:35:41] unknown-owner: does yours work with WMC?
[01:36:11] andyman53: no idea, i run linux solely
[01:37:10] unknown-owner: if you could, you could image your linux system then install Win7 just to try WMC. At least this way if it works, you'd have peace of mine the hardware is working
[01:38:04] unknown-owner: I did this to very that I'm getting a good signal from Comcast and can view Livetv with the cablecard and tuner

[07:59:08] Zenther: Hello, I am using arch and having a problem at times with 0 byte file recordings.
[08:00:08] lautriv: i have 2 questions about certain delays. for one, if i change the channel on a frontend, it may take a whole minute or even forever where i don't see "please wait" on screen. and the other delay is when a running (live-tv) showing comes to the end of its session, it'll freeze for a minute most likely not getting some joke or important ending from the showing.
[08:00:44] lautriv: Zenther, did your 0B result even if you have it scheduled on backend ?
[08:01:39] Zenther: lautriv, yes, if I am in mythtv it seems to record fine, but if I am not running the frontend then the backend shcedule 'starts' it but results in a 0 byte file I think
[08:02:17] lautriv: Zenther, how many tuners/transponders ?
[08:02:17] Zenther: 2 tuner card in use
[08:02:52] lautriv: Zenther, did you select "any" for the schedules transponder ?
[08:03:27] Zenther: where is that setting?
[08:06:37] lautriv: Zenther, do you schedule via mythweb ?
[08:08:10] Zenther: I dont have mythweb currently set up

[08:09:02] Zenther: front end resides on same backend machine
[08:09:03] lautriv: Zenther, just asked because it is a bit hidden there, should be obvious via the frontend.

[08:11:44] lautriv: Zenther, it may happen your preferred card is not useable because used otherwise ( throwed a message on earlier versions not sure about 0.27 ) , maybe you have permission-issues on the place where it tries to write, maybe you have a corrupted DB.
[08:13:40] Zenther: I don't see where I can set it but in the manage recording rules for the few I have it is set to Any
[08:14:11] lautriv: that reduces point 1
[08:14:34] lautriv: now check perms on your recording-dir.
[08:14:35] Zenther: I am saving to an ntfs disk here's my fstab line: UUID=7EE34D96395A99E0 /mnt/DataDrive ntfs-3g defaults,locale=en_US.UTF8,rw 0 0
[08:15:03] lautriv: Zenther, you know NTFS doesn't handle any permissions ?
[08:15:24] lautriv: Zenther, is this drive even mounted as user mythtv ?
[08:15:30] Zenther: need it accessable from a windows drive too so I use ntfs
[08:16:16] Zenther: at one time I remember having a user= something or another on that line
[08:16:41] Zenther: but it isn't currently there... Live TV seems to record fine
[08:16:55] Zenther: but again, I have mythfrontend running then
[08:17:33] lautriv: Zenther, is the drive health ?
[08:17:44] Zenther: by record, I mean it saves the current one I am watching fine in a different directory
[08:17:56] Zenther: drive health is good
[08:18:53] lautriv: what winbloes
[08:19:03] Zenther: it is just that if I don't have the frontend running the backend doesn't record and save it... open the frontend and the entry is a 0 byte file.

[08:20:15] lautriv: and what linux ?

[14:25:38] stuartm: OK, new question – how can I stop the system putting all the PCI/PCI-E cards on the same interrupt?
[14:26:58] stuartm: interrupt table looks like this – http://pastebin.com/s0HHfM6q
[14:27:53] stuartm: toggling bios/OS control of interrupts in the bios makes no difference, although there are unused interrupts (e.g. 13)
[14:29:18] Jay2k1: you can't manually assign interrupts in the BIOS i take it?
[14:31:44] stuartm: not fine-grained, it gives the option to 'reserve' each interrupt, or to assign it to a PCI device – all 6/7 (or more) are set to 'PCI Device' but it's still lumping everything together on the one interrupt
[14:33:31] danielk22: stuartm: I'm not really up on PCIe but I thought it was possible for Linux to assign the interrupts on modern HW
[14:33:35] stuartm: could see what happens if I 'reserve' them all instead – it's not very clear what it actually means by that, I assumed it reserved those IRQs for non-pci, i.e. OS assigned IRQs
[14:34:04] stuartm: danielk22: that's what I thought, but I get the same result with both bios assigned and kernel assign IRQ
[14:35:24] danielk22: stuartm: You could try juggling where the cards are physically plugged in.
[14:35:52] andyman53: Jay2k1: danielk22 have you heard of a problem of people tuning Ceton Infini TV cards in mythtv, but are able to capture them fine outside mythtv?
[14:35:54] stuartm: already tried that, there's only one free PCI slot so there's not a lot of scope for variation

[14:37:08] andyman53: It is, was working fine for months
[14:37:22] stuartm: beating my head against the wall at this point – already thrown away good money on a new PSU that it turns out wasn't needed, now I'm faced with potentially having to buy a new motherboard (which means new cpu/ram too), a cheap upgrade is turning into a very expensive one
[14:38:00] Jay2k1: stuartm: what's the actual problem?
[14:38:26] andyman53: stuartm: what is your rationale for wanting to change this?
[14:39:01] stuartm: Jay2k1: tuners aren't working since installing the graphics card – at least one is giving IRQ errors in dmesg, the other just isn't being recognised by the driver
[14:39:22] Tobbe5178: do mythtv cache the fanart and cover art anywhere else than the respective folders specifide in the setup?
[14:39:28] andyman53: Unless you're facing a head-on blaring functionality loss, you're not going to see much performance gains
[14:40:18] stuartm: andyman53: the loss of all my tuners definitely falls into that category
[14:40:44] andyman53: can you pastebin an lspci?
[14:40:49] Jay2k1: hehe
[14:41:13] Jay2k1: in the bios there could be an option to re-assign irq numbers to all the devices
[14:41:18] stuartm: andyman53: standard output, or -v (vv)?
[14:41:30] andyman53: one v couldn't hurt
[14:42:20] andyman53: stuartm: you also might want to look into a bios firmware upgrade, this sounds like a bug. IRQ's have been plug and play since Y2K
[14:42:20] stuartm: Jay2k1: will go back to the bios, see what else I can, whether there are more onboard devices I can disable too which may free up some IRQs and let it do the right thing (disabled most things already)

[21:17:17] andyman53: so yeah, recap, i can access the tv stream via /dev/ceton/ctn91xx_mpeg0_0 after tuning on the web, but not on mythtv
[21:17:41] andyman53: i don't know how to test via pure IP (rtp stream)
[21:19:29] TimeWolf___: ceton still exists?

[21:34:21] TimeWolf___: I found some articles that seem to indicate the FCC requires that STB's include either a 1394 or an ethernet port
[21:35:11] TimeWolf___: there's no specific mention of tuning or that these requirements are actually in effect today, but it's something I would look into if I were currently using an IR blaster

[21:38:03] TimeWolf___: I should post a video of how IP tuning works for me. After, like, 9 years of IR blasting with wintv150,hdpvr,commandir... It just BLEW my mind

[22:15:20] afpup: SO what are you doing now TimeWolf___?
[22:15:40] TimeWolf___: afpup nothing, just chilling out with a cup of coffee
[22:17:02] TimeWolf___: afpup what are you up to?
[22:17:59] afpup: I meant how are you using myth without hdpvr,commandir,etc/
[22:22:29] TimeWolf___: instead of IR blasting, I just have a script that fires a wget command to change channels
[22:22:37] TimeWolf___: afpup I dont actually use mythtv, I use sagetv
[22:25:33] TimeWolf___: http://screencloud.net/v/3ZYO
[22:29:33] TimeWolf___: afpup I still use an hdpvr to capture video, i'm just not using to to blast IR
[22:38:01] afpup: what kind of box are you controlling via ip?
[22:40:12] MartinT: can't believe that I've been using the qt paint engine for so long... just switched to opengl... and the animations now seem to work when they didn't before!
[22:41:19] afpup: I had that happen with one machine: I used to run windows on it, had to use the qt painter, switched to Gentoo, but kept the same hostname, therefore all the old settings stayed in effect... couldn'
[22:43:02] MartinT: what is everyone using in terms of themes...
[22:44:12] TimeWolf___: afpup I have a cisco/sci-atlanta explorer 4642hdc that I plugged into my home network
[22:46:40] TimeWolf___: afpup I plugged it in and found that it was running some web server http://screencloud.net/v/BHpV
[22:48:34] afpup: wish I could control my dish boxes like that – use a commandIR unit (one of the original ones) and its quite sensitive to issues on the host: eg: won't work with xhci (usb3) driver, even if the port its connected to is using (e|u)hci
[22:49:06] afpup: actually, won't work reliably would be a better way of phrasing that.
[22:49:40] afpup: MartinT: MythBuntu on my living room system (WAF), and Media Center Wide on my machine
[22:50:22] afpup: Media Center Wide is kinda processor heavy, but looks nice – wife just doesn't like the layout of the guide.

[22:50:59] TimeWolf___: afpup I started looking into this because my commandir was missing quite a bit
[22:52:29] afpup: I just dug an old Core2 Quad board out of storage and moved my hdpvr's to that... the dish boxes do have an ethernet port on the back, but never explored the option.
[22:53:51] TimeWolf___: afpup I'm super curious if other stbs also support the same
[22:57:45] MartinT: I'm looking for a new theme, but the ones that are available in the ui aren't that appealing...

[23:22:47] tgm4883: MartinT, don't like Mythbuntu theme?
[23:23:02] MartinT: nah...
[23:23:19] tgm4883: what are you looking for?
[23:23:29] MartinT: afpup: yes I use fanart,
[23:23:43] MartinT: something flashy, I'm a magpie that way...
[23:23:52] tgm4883: define flashy
[23:24:23] MartinT: hard to describe...
[23:25:22] afpup: The maximum animation effects I've come across so far are in the MythMediaStream – but you *must* change the menu style as well to make it work right.
[23:26:14] tgm4883: MartinT, that makes it difficult to make a recommendation
[23:26:27] MartinT: yeah, I tried that one, with the menu
[23:26:31] tgm4883: MartinT, also, I've found the available animations in mythtv a bit inconsistant and lacking
