[00:40:05] jya: wagnerrp: what's the freebsd equivalent to pwmconfig and fan control?
[00:40:06] jya: under linux I've managed to make the chassis noise bearable by dropping the speed of the fan to a minimum
[00:46:38] JimBaxter (JimBaxter!~jbaxter@jimbax.plus.com) has quit (Quit: Quiting)
[00:58:05] tonsofpcs: so... I got it to import data but it made new channels.
[00:59:20] tonsofpcs: http://imgur.com/KuUFt90
[00:59:38] tonsofpcs: I used sourceid PC:13760 which is what the lineup said in mythtv-setup
[01:00:28] tonsofpcs: jya: unplugging the fan from the controller and using a separate voltage source and a purpose-designed astable multivibrator
[01:01:04] jya: tonsofpcs: no intention of doing so.... not after spending so much on that motherboard + chassis\
[01:01:48] tonsofpcs: other options include switching to a larger fan for more airflow at lower speeds or immersing the whole thing in mineral oil ;)
[01:02:42] tonsofpcs: anyway, apparently pwm is set via sysctl
[01:06:08] jya: it's a 2U chassis; can't put bigger fan that what's currently there
[01:06:14] lapion (lapion!~axion@axion.xs4all.nl) has quit (Ping timeout: 264 seconds)
[01:06:32] jya: just need to find a way to set the fan speed the same way I do on linux
[01:06:40] jya: otherwise, I'm going to give up on freebsd
[01:07:00] jya: I reckon it's like 75–80db those fans...
[01:08:20] lapion (lapion!~axion@axion.xs4all.nl) has joined #mythtv-users
[01:13:09] tonsofpcs: back in the day, rack mounted equipment had holes top and bottom and air flowed vertically...
[01:13:24] ** tonsofpcs blames the "1U" PC manufacturers **
[01:14:10] jya: I think it's a very well built and designed chassis.
[01:14:19] jya: it's just not designed to be used in a home environment
[01:14:34] jya: not unless you're willing to live in deafening noise
[01:15:09] jya: I swear I woke up this morning thinking I could still hear it. And I'm certain I was hearing the hummmm... yet, the machine was off...
[01:15:20] jya: even 8 hours later, I was still "hearing" it!
[01:17:49] tonsofpcs: apparently there's some mod/plugin/??? called fanctl ?
[01:18:37] clever: tonsofpcs: ive seen some recent rack mounted computer hardware, the audio cables tend to melt....
[01:18:41] clever: its a literal oven
[01:19:17] tonsofpcs: clever: all of my rack-mounted RF gear is still top and bottom vents with no fans... these PC guys can't figure out how to lay out for airflow.
[01:19:44] tonsofpcs: and the non-RF non-PC gear I have often has either no fans or multiple fans so it keeps operating in case of failure.
[01:20:45] jya: tonsofpcs: Is that on freebsd?
[01:20:55] tonsofpcs: jya: that's what google says.
[01:21:06] tonsofpcs: i found links to a git repo, something about a dragon, ...
[01:21:18] tonsofpcs: git://leaf.dragonflybsd.org/~cnst/dragonfly.git
[01:21:35] tonsofpcs: and some random emails full of code and/or diffs.
[01:22:13] jya: I saw some links on how to control the speed fan with sysctl for some IBM motherboard; but that was using a specific freebsd kernel module.
[01:22:31] jya: I'm actually using freenas and there's no such luxury
[01:22:50] tonsofpcs: oh, I saw something that mentioned that
[01:23:19] tonsofpcs: most people just say (on forums) to use the BIOS settings
[01:24:02] tonsofpcs: actually, does this board have a parallel port?
[01:24:18] jya: no... and there's nothing in the bios settings.
[01:24:48] tonsofpcs: clearly you need a keyboard attached and a scrolllock toggle script to trigger a transistor .... ;)
[01:25:04] jya: via IPMI, I have 4 fan speed settings: full (8000rpm), Full IO (7000rpm), Optimise and Standard: at best those two are at 2700rpm
[01:27:03] tonsofpcs: I see something about writing a plugin for nrpe as a script...
[01:27:48] Swabby (Swabby!Swabby@74-137-32-244.dhcp.insightbb.com) has quit ()
[01:28:08] tonsofpcs: and suggestions of a hardware control panel...
[01:32:55] tonsofpcs: http://sensors.cnst.su/fanctl/AsiaBSDCon2010. . . . l.slides.pdf looks intriguing
[01:33:29] tonsofpcs: anyway, if anyone has any ideas how I can fix the double channels and use a file from schedulesdirect to update listings, it'd be appreciated.

[10:58:59] buu: What is the 'rating' field in videometadata?
[11:06:33] Jay2k1: probably the rating retrieved from a movie db
[11:07:29] buu: Then what is "userrating" ?
[11:07:50] buu: One is a varchar(128) the other is a float..
[11:08:08] buu: I suppose userrating could be the mythtv user..
[11:09:01] Jay2k1: es, that's my guess too
[11:09:04] Jay2k1: yes*
[11:09:35] Jay2k1: either that or the other way around, but since the rating value retrieved from tvdb/tmdb may vary, it's more likely to be the varchar one
[11:11:56] buu: Hrm.
[11:12:09] buu: I wonder what myth does with the rating field
[11:12:17] buu: Jay2k1: It could also be the mpaa rating..
[11:12:42] Jay2k1: i doubt that, since videos do have a retrieved rating
[11:13:18] buu: That's true.
[11:15:44] Jay2k1: oh funny
[11:16:17] buu: ?
[11:16:55] Jay2k1: i have a couple videos
[11:17:07] Jay2k1: 12 monkeys: rating 16, userrating 6.8
[11:17:17] buu: o.o
[11:17:25] Jay2k1: death at a funeral: rating R, userrating 7.33333
[11:17:46] Jay2k1: pirates of the caribbean 3: rating pg-13, userrating 7
[11:17:49] buu: Maybe 16 is like the euro '16+' ?
[11:17:57] Jay2k1: yes
[11:18:01] buu: So yeah
[11:18:18] buu: Do tv shows have ratings?
[11:18:45] Jay2k1: because available ratings in my table are 12, 16, 18, 6, R, PG-13, NR, TV-MA, TV Show, TV-14
[11:19:05] Jay2k1: TV-MA might stand for TV show with mature content/rating
[11:19:31] Jay2k1: it says TV Show for the "Lost" episodes
[11:19:50] Jay2k1: TV-14 for Navy CIS and TV-MA for Homeland

[20:43:38] clever: tonsofpcs: in the rtp stream i was looking at, it just contained mpegts packets
[20:43:55] clever: tonsofpcs: just extract those from the rtp, and write them to a file whole, and just change file when the time comes up

[20:53:17] tonsofpcs: create a rolling archive of content that was on the stream (and cron will delete files older than /n/ where /n/ is how much fits on my available HDD space)
[20:53:43] clever: cant just set mythtv to record everything?
[20:54:01] tonsofpcs: both for review of what was there (visually/audibly) and for review of what data was there (so I can shove it into a MPEG analysis tool)

[20:54:50] clever: that 2nd part is what i mainly made this for, but ive now confirmed everything is encrypted up the wazoo

[23:17:38] NewBuntu81-2: The one I would want for the DVB over the air would be the v4l one right?

[23:28:24] NewBuntu81-2: But when I try the card type as Analog v4l or even IVTV Mpeg2, i then can choose the "video device" as "dev/video3" or "dev/video4".
[23:28:49] NewBuntu81-2: Should the "path" be "/dev/dvb..." or "dev/video#"?
[23:29:47] NewBuntu81-2: When card type is Analog v4l or IVTV...and path set to /dev/video3" it probes the card and tells me the type "Hauppauge WinTV-HVR2250 [saa7164]"

[23:36:52] ctmjr: you need to figure out why /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0 is is not opening is something else using it and did you delete it in mythtv-setup and then add it again
