[14:22:21] kmc_: Hi all
[14:23:13] kmc_: I have a master and a slave, each with two tuners. how can i prioritise which tuners, are used by which frontend?
[14:24:09] kmc_: I keep having to manually switch inputs every time I watch tv.....
[14:25:48] wagnerrp: you can't
[14:25:54] wagnerrp: all tuners go into a shared pool
[14:26:05] wagnerrp: and the priority in that shared pool is the same for all frontends
[14:26:18] wagnerrp: you cannot prioritize "local" tuners
[14:28:14] kmc_: thanks mate
[14:29:14] kmc_: the remote tuners are getting a terrible reception, is there some way to avoid them at this frontend? (until the landlord fixes the antenna)
[14:29:37] wagnerrp: disable them in mythtv-setup
[14:30:16] kmc_: hahah darn, i was hoping for a less intrusive methos but hey, im glad i know the deal now :) thanks again
[14:30:48] wagnerrp: remember that channels are stored against the video source, not the tuner
[14:31:00] wagnerrp: so it is fairly trivial to re-add tuners
[14:31:21] wagnerrp: for your current purpose, simply disconnecting the video source from the input on that tuner would be sufficient
[14:35:05] kmc_: my housemate just pointed something out.... if this frontend will always grab the networked backend's tuners first be default, then it floods the lan here by default..... suddenly i'm more motivated to fix this.....is there any hope?
[14:35:31] wagnerrp: fix your lan so 15Mbps of video does not flood it
[14:35:50] wagnerrp: which likely means... stop using wireless
[14:36:11] kmc_: is that all? two full HD streams is 15?

[14:36:36] wagnerrp: one stream of broadcast ATSC content averages around 15Mbps
[14:37:28] kmc_: mate youre a legend, every question you just answreed, saved me an hour of googling, i swear. thanks.
[14:38:07] kmc_: (okay maybe im exaggerating but it'a been a long trial to get it working!)

[14:47:20] neufeld: kmc_: While I have plans to wire my house for ethernet, as a stopgap I use a powerline network. I pair of D-Link DHP-500AV units, which for my wiring tops out at about 8.5 MB/sec. No way would I have tried to run the HDHomerun3 ATSC tuner over the wireless network, which had a peak reliable throughput from attic to basement of no more than 350 kB/sec (wildly varying, between 350 kB/sec and 1.2 MB/sec, but you

[19:11:03] sphery: if you're not archiving, you can either watch from Video Library and delete and then switch to Watch Recordings when you catch up

[19:42:11] wagnerrp: mythtv disables the standard X screensaver mechanism
[19:42:24] _abbenormal (_abbenormal!~abbenorma@d28-23-28-94.dim.wideopenwest.com) has quit (*.net *.split)
[19:42:24] npm (npm!~npm@cpe-198-72-183-90.socal.res.rr.com) has quit (*.net *.split)
[19:42:29] wagnerrp: meaning you must run a screensaver that complies with standard Xorg procedures
[19:42:29] sphery: KDE screensaver and GNOME screensaver aren't sane in that they require every single application to write custom dbus code to support their custom command set
[19:42:36] sphery: so we don't support them
[19:43:05] sphery: KDE screensaver used to take cues from the PM state (which we do modify), but no longer does--so it's now unsupported
[19:43:15] ikevin: i run gnome screensaver
[19:43:31] ikevin: i need to replace it by xscreensaver?
[19:43:47] neufeld: ikevin: disable the window-manager screen saver, and use DPMS settings instead. MythTV will talk with DPMS.
[19:43:49] sphery: and gnome screensaver actively broke and refused to fix the mechanism we were using to disable gnome screensaver, so they were even worse
[19:44:17] jbaxter (jbaxter!~jbaxter@jimbax.plus.com) has quit (Ping timeout: 255 seconds)
[19:44:19] sphery: but, hey, why shouldn't GNOME and KDE design their screensaver interaction like Windows-based programs do--after all, it's not like you run them on *nix...
[19:44:35] sphery: right, we support DPMS or xscreensaver
[19:44:39] sphery: those are your choices
[19:45:38] sphery: or you can hack up a script called xscreensaver-command that works with our poke mechanism to disable your screensaver (but it's not really worth it)
[19:46:21] NightMonkey (NightMonkey!~NightrMon@pdpc/supporter/professional/nightmonkey) has joined #mythtv-users
[19:46:21] ikevin: it's just a screensaver, xscreensaver work fine
[19:46:32] sphery: and if xdg-screensaver would put my other patch in (the KDE one--which was the basis for the GNOME one they already accepted), I'd put back support for using xdg-screensaver to control the screensaver of your choosing
[19:47:15] sphery: (as you may have guessed I have strong feelings on this topic... but I'm glad you're not strongly attached to GNOME screensaver :)
[19:47:19] Oleg_: okay, here is the backtrace of the crash: http://pastebin.com/Utgeztra

[19:47:54] sphery: Oleg_: we likely need other thread information
[19:48:06] ikevin: lol, not, i use it because it's installed by mint's installer
[19:48:12] sphery: that's the thread apply all bt full
[19:48:37] Oleg_: I don't understand what I should do
[19:48:58] sphery: I'll ping xdg-utils guys, again, and see if there's a reason they haven't accepted the kde patch (I think it's just because they don't know it's there--lost in the tracker, something I totally understand)
[19:49:10] sphery: then we can do proper screensaver control

[19:55:36] Oleg_: sphery, you see what I am saying?
[19:56:18] wagnerrp: you see that from mythweb?
[19:58:07] louisdk: wagnerrp: Yes: Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/UEdRVYu.png
[19:58:41] wagnerrp: something seriously wrong there
[19:58:57] wagnerrp: as far as i know, mythweb doesn't even pull that query from the backend http server
[19:59:47] Oleg_: looks like sphery is way, but can you help me please, wagnerrp?
[20:00:05] Oleg_: as I said, thread apply all bt full produces this output:
[20:00:10] Oleg_: gdbcommands:9: Error in sourced command file:
[20:00:14] Oleg_: Cannot access memory at address 0x7ffffeff8000
[20:00:47] wagnerrp: my best guess, you're trying to run a copy of GDB that does not match the compiler used to build MythTV
[20:00:56] wagnerrp: try just using /usr/bin/gdb
[20:01:53] Oleg_: what do you mean? gdb and mythtv are supposed to be built by the same compiler?
[20:02:16] wagnerrp: you've installed some weird 'gdb751' from the ports tree
[20:02:33] wagnerrp: i'm suggesting you use the gdb that came packaged with the freebsd base system
[20:02:39] Oleg_: ok
[20:02:55] Oleg_: but gdb751 simply means it's gdb 7.5.1
[20:03:16] wagnerrp: which may or may not be compatible with the gcc used to build mythtv
[20:03:20] Oleg_: and the base system contains gdb 6.1.1
[20:03:30] Oleg_: I built mythtv with gcc48
[20:03:46] wagnerrp: don't ask me, i'm just making guesses
[20:04:33] Oleg_: why would the newer gdb be less compatible with gcc48 than the old gdb?
[20:04:47] Oleg_: older gdb
[20:16:52] Oleg_: okay, gdb from the base system produces this output when the segfault occurs:
