[14:12:07] sl1ce: that is a problem
[14:12:23] Sharky112065: it wasn't on the windows computer
[14:12:23] sl1ce: you need to put the ceton on .0
[14:12:42] sl1ce: yes but the mask is configured different on the windows machine
[14:13:03] sl1ce: you could change your ethernet to have a mask of 255.255.0.0
[14:13:25] sl1ce: that wont mask the third octet
[14:13:56] sl1ce: you should have the ceton on static ip anyways imo
[14:14:22] sl1ce: put them at .o addresses that are outside of the dhcp range
[14:14:54] Sharky112065: do I use those ip's then on the myth-setup configureation?
[14:15:00] sl1ce: yes
[14:15:14] sl1ce: that way myth ALWAYS finds those specific ip
[14:15:34] sl1ce: and no other device can obtain those addy from dhcp
[14:15:42] Sharky112065: I couldn't find an example anywhere showing what to set them to in the interfaces file except using dhcp
[14:16:14] sl1ce: it only took a min to change to static, it was the first thing i did when adding to my network
[14:17:14] Sharky112065: Can I set them to 192.168.0.10 and 192.168.0.11 or should the two cards be further apart?
[14:17:54] sl1ce: you should put them at atleast 4 apart
[14:18:03] sl1ce: because each tuner has an ip
[14:18:17] sl1ce: and put them father from dhcp range
[14:18:37] Sharky112065: problem is frucking debian squeeze, I have to restart the computer evey time I make a change. stopping and restarting with the init script causes my eth1 aka interface my internet is on not to obtain a new lease from comcast
[14:18:45] sl1ce: like 192.168.0.150 and 192.168.0.160
[14:19:07] sl1ce: you will need to make the change on the ceton web interface
[14:19:18] Sharky112065: which I cannot get to

[14:20:20] sl1ce: try putting your eth0 mask to 255.255.0.0
[14:20:25] Sharky112065: unless I put them back in a windows computer
[14:20:44] sl1ce: or eth1 whatever you are using
[14:20:53] sl1ce: you will need to put a static ip for that also
[14:21:00] Sharky112065: eth0 is localnet, eth1 is internet
[14:21:05] sl1ce: which is very good practice to begin with
[14:21:40] Sharky112065: eth0 has a static ip of 192.168.0.1 eth2 is set by my cable provider via dhcp
[14:21:49] sl1ce: static ip addressing is a no brainer for your entire network
[14:22:13] sl1ce: ok change the eth0 mask to 255.255.0.0
[14:22:28] Sharky112065: ill give that a try.

[14:25:48] sl1ce: which file?
[14:26:42] Sharky112065: . /etc/network/interfaces you said you set yours up static, so should be there

[23:04:35] Sharky112065: it was not the resume from bookmark option it was an option to bookmark when you stopped watching if I recall correctly
[23:04:53] Sharky112065: That coupled with resume from bookmark is what I like

[23:07:17] Sharky112065: I havent been getting much sleep trying to get all this running.
[23:08:16] Sharky112065: Today I spent 6 hours trying to figure out why I could not access the ceton web page for the tuner. had some really smart people helping me. evey time I went to the ip of the page, it took me to my web page.
[23:08:52] Sharky112065: Finally I jsut stopped my apache web server and still it brought up my web page.. I hit shift refresh and walla there was the ceton page. arg
[23:10:00] Sharky112065: Some how it was caching my page and a normal refresh or typing in the address did not work
[23:13:11] sphery: stuartm: it does the right thing--it does exactly what you ask

[23:14:26] sphery: Sharky112065: and my statement was just saying that the DB can't get any cleaner than it gets when you do a delete all on both things, so bugs won't come into play on that part
[23:14:34] sphery: only on the reconfiguring part

[23:17:31] Sharky112065: Well I just did a delete all again so that should take care of it then. we will see
[23:19:18] Sharky112065: How do I purge the data that gets put in my mythfilldatabase? Maybe that has something to do with it since Ihad data for the hdhomeruns and then added cetons then deleted hdhomeruns. then when realzed not working I deleted all and added just the cetons, and it still would not put in the guuide data

[23:21:04] sphery: Sharky112065: deleting the video sources with "Delete All Video Sources" deletes the channels and all program listings
[23:21:19] sphery: this is what I'm saying... it's as clean as a new database :)

[23:25:59] Sharky112065: it obviously does not delete eveything
[23:28:45] sphery: Sharky112065: I think those messages are just mythtv-setup trying to populate the combo box with info on devices you have
[23:29:09] sphery: caused by call to CardUtil::GetHDHRdesc() in HDHomeRunConfigurationGroup::FillDeviceList()
[23:29:31] Sharky112065: ah ok that makes sense then. so what is the exact mythfilldatabase with options I should run after setting up tuners, maybe im messing that up?
[23:29:38] sphery: where that call is in a loop, looping over devices returned by CardUtil::ProbeVideoDevices("HDHOMERUN")
[23:31:24] sphery: IMHO, you should create capture cards, create video source(s), connect input, scan for channels (assuming this is not a Prime, or fetch channels if a prime), then manually fix all the xmltvids using mythweb channel editor (assuming it's not a Prime--it will have proper xmltvids if you did a Fetch channels instead of a scan...), then run mythfilldatabase --dd-grab-all
[23:32:20] sphery: if you scan for channels, then run Fetch channels... there's a good chance that you'll have garbage from the scan that mfdb can't relate to the SD-provided channels, so you'll get duplicate/shadow channels
[23:32:58] sphery: meaning it will populate listings info for shadows and it will look like there's no data--because the only channels with data aren't set up for your card/aren't recordable
[23:33:29] sphery: I never trust the "blindly hope that mfdb can figure out which channel is which based on the garbage it found on the scan"
[23:36:04] Sharky112065: sphery:hmm that is what I did exactly. fetch instead of scan because I have two ceton infinitv4 cards, then I did mythfilldatabase --dd-grab-all
[23:36:50] sphery: ah, yeah, you took out the HDHR
[23:36:55] Sharky112065: what should the channel freq table be set to?
[23:37:11] sphery: likely us-cable (standard)
[23:37:21] sphery: maybe hrc (very unlikely irc)
[23:37:32] Sharky112065: yes, but I went back in and deleted all and added the cetons then did the mythfill database again and no guiide data
[23:38:26] sphery: and there's none in db?
[23:38:36] sphery: select count(*) from program;

[23:42:14] Sharky112065: I did not check it previously
[23:42:26] sphery: generally you want it unselected on the video source if you're using Schedules Direct
[23:42:45] sphery: because otherwise, you have to disable it on each individual channel that uses Schedules Direct data
