[00:05:24] wagnerrp: or rather, i have the one that came with lirccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc
[00:05:42] wagnerrp: the mceusb remote codes should come pre-programmed
[00:06:00] adub_: i looked on there there are some settings that arent working
[00:06:08] adub_: some buttons
[00:06:36] adub_: like i can move up and down but not select volume up and down works but not channel up and down and guide button does not work
[00:07:02] adub_: i was using a mceusb file i found online maybe it was outdated during install though i did not see mceusb in the list
[00:07:13] adub_: maybe it was not listed as mceusb
[00:07:19] adub_: i was looking for mce something though
[00:07:32] Diverdude: is there a tool for linux (other than pdfedit) which can be used to annotate pdf files?
[00:07:38] wagnerrp: there are some lircrc files for the mceusb remotes and mythtv on the wiki
[00:07:49] wagnerrp: but the lircd.conf that comes with lirc should have everything you need
[00:07:51] adub_: ya i downloaded the one out there
[00:08:17] adub_: ok i just selected custom so maybe it will work now dunno
[00:09:08] adub_: na same thing only certain buttons are working
[00:09:24] adub_: im more concerned with the sound though
[00:09:25] wagnerrp: does 'irw' pick up all the necessary buttons?
[00:09:37] adub_: type in irw
[00:09:43] adub_: in command ine
[00:09:52] wagnerrp: yes
[00:10:26] adub_: no such file or directory
[00:10:40] wagnerrp: you must have 'irw' if you installed lirc
[00:12:20] adub_: well the remote does function some so ya it has to be installed
[00:12:30] wagnerrp: thats not true
[00:12:32] adub_: ill search repositories after these updates that im grabbing to see if it works
[00:12:44] wagnerrp: you could have a remote that functions as an HID device
[00:12:57] adub_: gotcha
[00:13:02] adub_: ill brb

[02:38:13] adub_: you sent the link to me
[02:38:19] wagnerrp: i seem to recall telling you before you bought it that i had the same remote, but a different receiver

[02:47:29] adub_: how do i configure certain buttons if myth doesnt care about lircd.conf
[02:47:41] adub_: can i force it ot use that conf
[02:47:56] wagnerrp: no, lircd cares about lircd.conf
[02:48:10] wagnerrp: the lircd.conf tells it how to translate codes into commands
[02:48:18] wagnerrp: which it then passes to any program connected on the socket
[02:48:30] wagnerrp: the commands are then handled by the program using the lircrc
[02:48:32] adub_: oh i see
[02:48:58] adub_: but basically waht it boils down to you have to have the correct settings in lircd.conf stlil though

[02:50:40] adub_: u have the same remote and use transmitter jacks
[02:50:58] adub_: so oyu dont use the usb device for ir that comes with the remote
[02:53:21] wagnerrp: i have a different receiver box than the one showed in the one you bought
[02:53:32] wagnerrp: its wider with two transmitter jacks on either side of the USB cable
[02:53:41] wagnerrp: it doesnt show up as an HID device
[02:53:48] wagnerrp: so it doesnt work without running lirc
[02:53:57] wagnerrp: however lirc is preprogrammed for all the codes that it will send

[15:03:03] adub_: sphery btw its 0.24 that lets you scan in audio devices 0.23 does not i have more options now when i scan honestly i htink i just need to find the correct settings for my card
[15:03:08] adub_: in the audio settings setup
[15:03:19] adub_: since sound works with every other device on my system

[15:08:27] adub_: no but i am thinking that maybe i am not selecting the right mixer or something
[15:08:35] adub_: and the master pcm thing
[15:08:50] adub_: like there is three combinations with each i do get different options with the scanning though
[15:08:54] adub_: so its detecting
[15:09:09] adub_: i have yet to ifnd a setting that owrks
[15:09:21] adub_: cna you tel lme wha tyou use for mixer and if you use pcm or master
[15:09:36] sphery: what audio device do you have?
[15:09:42] adub_: gt218
[15:09:46] adub_: geforce 210
[15:09:48] sphery: in MythTV?
[15:09:54] adub_: oh
[15:09:56] sphery: ALSA:something?
[15:10:07] adub_: K one sec yeah i have devices
[15:12:04] adub_: ALSA:dmix:CARD=NVidia,DEV=3
[15:12:25] sphery: For mixer, you need ALSA:default
[15:12:33] adub_: i have mor than just that tho
[15:12:44] sphery: for audio device, that will only allow stereo
[15:13:00] sphery: you probably want ALSA:CARD=NVidia,DEV=3
[15:13:09] adub_: ALSA:hdmi:CARD=NVidia,DEV=0
[15:13:10] sphery: make sure you scan, then find it in the list
[15:13:44] adub_: ALSA:hw:CARD=NVidia,DEV=3
[15:14:05] adub_: ALSA:plughw:CARD=NVidia,DEV=3
[15:14:17] adub_: ALSA:pulse
[15:14:25] sphery: ok, yeah, don't use pulse
[15:14:32] adub_: PulseAudio:default
[15:14:43] adub_: thats what is listed
[15:14:52] sphery: try ALSA:hw:CARD=NVidia,DEV=3 or ALSA:hdmi:CARD=NVidia,DEV=0 (selected from the list after a rescan)
[15:15:07] sphery: and make sure you use ALSA:default for mixer
[15:15:30] adub_: do i want dolby digital option and dts
[15:15:43] adub_: also do i want any advanced audio options
[15:17:13] adub_: also mixer contorl pcm or master ??
[15:17:50] adub_: also after a change like this do i need to do anything additional

[15:18:21] adub_: just pcm
[15:18:27] adub_: lemme go back in there
[15:18:30] sphery: probably doesn't matter, but it's the simplest

[15:19:07] sphery: we don't support specific sound cards

[15:19:45] sphery: I have no clue how to properly configure yours--as ALSA configuration itself is black magic
[15:19:48] adub_: hmm sound works with all other devices
[15:19:56] adub_: i appreciate the patience btw
[15:20:31] sphery: I have a feeling you have Pulse Audio installed and running, in which case you need to use Pulse Audio in MythTV (and you can only ever get stereo sound)
[15:20:34] adub_: i do not see a test button

[15:23:01] Methuselah: eedback, and thanks.
[15:23:01] sphery: uname -r shows kernel version

[15:28:23] adub_: http://ubuntu.pastecode.com/2198
[15:28:29] adub_: there is the output for that command
[15:29:40] sphery: yeah, pulseaudio is what's causing the problem for you. So, either set up MythTV to use PulseAudio directly (with something like PulseAudio:default, but I have no clue what it really is and get bad-quality, stereo-only, high-latency audio) or get rid of the Pulse abomination

[15:36:18] sphery: yeah, he has been super active, lately
[15:37:02] sphery: adub_: anyway, I think you'll have a much easier time getting MythTV working by starting with Mythbuntu (=Ubuntu already configured appropriately)
[15:37:28] adub_: ok we'll see if not then i dunno what to do i know i can get my nvidia configured and owrking in the OS
[15:37:36] adub_: so there is no pulse audio with mythbuntu?
[15:37:55] sphery: but on the bright side, trying the hard way first gave you something to keep you busy during your little vacation :)
[15:38:00] adub_: according to that documentation was it stating that gt218 will work with myth?
[15:38:06] sphery: it should be much easier
[15:38:26] sphery: I don't know exactly what they do about Pulse, but they have the distro configured so audio should work well for you
[15:38:37] adub_: honestly i am glad i took the hard road it learned a ton about myth and with my video capture card i can breeze through a myth setup in no time
[15:38:41] sphery: and, yeah, it should work fine with 2.6.35+
[15:38:45] adub_: and i understand the innerworkings better
[15:38:47] adub_: for sure
[15:39:09] sphery: yep, if you went the easy way, first, MythTV would be much more of a black box
[15:39:25] sphery: seems you had MythTV basically figured out--and it was just the low-level (system) audio stuff getting in your way
[15:39:35] sphery: so good time to switch over to the easy way...
[15:39:41] adub_: how well do xbmc and mythtv run together on the same box
[15:39:48] adub_: i mean seperate programs for sure
[15:40:03] sphery: You've been practicing your swings with 2 baseball bats, now you're stepping up to the plate, so you take one so you can hit a home run :)
[15:40:09] adub_: but this is ultimately what i want to do i am setting up a htpc / webserver but the web side is lightweight on apps
[15:40:25] sphery: you should be able to run xbmc on the system as you like
[15:40:35] sphery: though, IMHO, you should not use it to watch your MythTV recordings
[15:40:44] adub_: sweet just making sure i thought as much but never know there could be quirks
[15:41:01] adub_: ya i seen where you oculd use it as a frontend
[15:41:06] sphery: take advantage of all the features mythfrontend offers (commercial skip, UI with tons of metadata, timestretch, ...) for MythTV recordings
[15:41:11] adub_: and that would be a common sense move to just use mythfrontend
[15:41:12] sphery: and feel free to use xbmc for other stuff

[15:41:36] sphery: cool, should work for you

[22:38:49] wagnerrp: so ive never investigated it or how it works
[22:39:04] bonelifer: yeah, it makes it easier to place in a structured format
[22:39:50] bonelifer: basically fixed stuff not being formated the way the metadata grabber wants it in Videos
[22:40:10] bonelifer: I can't remember the last error, but at one point it complained ttvdb.conf and not being able to find it.
[22:40:47] wagnerrp: ah, that was something to do with the 0.23 version, and it shouldnt have been a fatal error anyway
[22:41:08] bonelifer: showed as errorr in the queue
