[01:04:13] iamlindoro: Someone should mention to the guy flipping out about firewire on the users list that his firewire is probably fine, it's almost definitely that motorola has put out yet another model ID number for his box, meaning firewiredevice.cpp will need patching to add it

[01:08:15] iamlindoro: no skin off my nose
[01:08:54] sphery: squish102: Well, events/<cpu_num> handles low-level asynchronous processing of requests--often from drivers. So, you may have to just disable hardware/drivers one by one until you find the culprit.
[01:09:36] sphery: I'd start with the easy ones--USB and other removables. Then you may need to use BIOS or even just unloading driver modules
[01:10:54] sphery: squish102: oh, also, try just disconnecting network, too

[01:34:15] iamlindoro: Aaaaameeeeeeennnn
[01:34:29] squish102: thanks sphery, i will start with the easy ones. it does seem that only when i play something does it raise it's head
[01:34:58] sphery: if that's the case, the video card/drivers are a likely suspect
[01:35:36] squish102: i think it is using the latest ati drivers, but i will check up on it
[01:36:37] sphery: if you're currently using ATI drivers, might want to try unloading their kernel module and then using the radeon driver to see if it doesn't happen then
[01:37:04] sphery: that would take some work, but less work than swapping video cards :)
[01:37:33] sphery: then again, if it's only when using a lot of video, it may just be the way the drivers work

[01:52:01] wagnerrp: and theyre arguing with my about how thats how every other RAID system works too
[01:52:19] sphery: heh
[01:52:39] sphery: I know how RAID works: Kills bugs...Dead!

[03:14:41] wagnerrp: thats because you installed trunk

[03:15:10] FisherPrice70: or a diff schema
[03:15:21] wagnerrp: you installed and ran trunk
[03:15:22] FisherPrice70: jamo is the mythvideo db side
[03:15:29] wagnerrp: and a month old version of trunk at that
[03:15:42] FisherPrice70: which one is truck
[03:15:45] FisherPrice70: trunc*
[03:15:46] wagnerrp: jamo is nothing, it doesnt exist
[03:16:05] FisherPrice70: which version is trunk
[03:16:14] wagnerrp: 1032 is the schema used by 0.23-fixes, trunk is currently on 1035
[03:16:25] wagnerrp: which means you have a copy of trunk from somewhere in between then
[03:16:35] wagnerrp: hence, an old copy of trunk
[03:16:48] wagnerrp: svn is just the repository, everything comes from svn
[03:17:09] FisherPrice70: well mytbuntu is probably on 1032
[03:17:18] FisherPrice70: I think the win mythtv is on 1033
[03:17:26] FisherPrice70: is there any way to go back?

[03:17:37] FisherPrice70: keeping in minds I didn't backup :S

[03:18:37] FisherPrice70: is there a way to re-configure/build the db? to 1032?
[03:18:44] wagnerrp: if you know your way around SQL, you can read through the dbcheck.cpp, revert those changes, and roll back the schema
[03:19:29] wagnerrp: if you dont know your way around SQL, run http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/407793#407793

[03:20:57] wagnerrp: 1033 added a couple indexes, entirely reversible

[04:31:03] wagnerrp: yeah, i cant actually get a non-dereferenced variable to show up
[04:31:16] wagnerrp: either ill get the path of home, or i will error because there is no variable set
[04:31:26] wagnerrp: i dont see how the string '$HOME' could ever be set
[04:31:35] sphery: in mythdirs.cpp we had previously done the "confdir.replace("$HOME", QDir::homePath());", so if we don't test for invalid HOME when MYTHCONFDIR is set with $HOME in it, we get an invalid conf dir
[04:31:38] wagnerrp: unless you single quote it on the define
[04:31:44] sphery: MYTHCONFDIR='$HOME/.mythtv'
[04:31:45] sphery: exactly
[04:32:07] wagnerrp: at least in python, that shows up as '/home/raymond/.mythtv'
[04:32:24] sphery: it's all a question of shell quoting/escaping
[04:32:48] sphery: but the app has always allowed it, so I just did a proper check for it
[04:33:46] wagnerrp: but it gets dereferenced when the variable is set
[04:33:51] wagnerrp: not when the variable is used
[04:33:58] wagnerrp: that line should never work
[04:34:00] sphery: all depends on the shell
[04:34:09] sphery: MYTHCONFDIR='$HOME/.mythtv' doesn't deref it
[04:34:52] sphery: start up an app with: MYTHCONFDIR='$HOME/.mythtv' mythfrontend , and you'll see, "Read conf dir = $HOME/.mythtv"
[04:35:09] sphery: the replacement does happen sometimes
[04:35:21] wagnerrp: and it will be able to pick up that directory?
[04:35:46] sphery: assuming there's a valid HOME dir in the environment, then confdir.replace("$HOME", QDir::homePath()); will make it a real path
[04:36:01] sphery: the bottom of the changeset... line 57 of mythdirs.cpp
[04:36:14] sphery: that technically happens before mythcontext.cpp
[04:36:27] wagnerrp: oh....
[04:36:28] sphery: but since our check is in mythcontext.cpp, I just extended it there
[04:36:38] wagnerrp: so if $HOME is not set, the replace will not happen
[04:37:21] sphery: if HOME isn't set and MYTHCONFDIR='$HOME/.mythtv' , you'll end up with confdir == '/.mythtv'
[04:38:24] wagnerrp: well then that still doesnt explain why you would check for '$HOME'
[04:38:35] sphery: That was originally what I thought was happening for *buntu, because the Qt docs said that QDir::homepath() always gives a non-empty string. However, when I realized the docs were wrong, I realized that is was the simpler explanation--our "check for invalid HOME" was broken by a change in Qt and *buntu doesn't always have HOME set
[04:39:14] sphery: because if there's no HOME, then anything with $HOME in it is invalid
[04:39:32] wagnerrp: but you said $HOME gets replaced before the check
[04:39:42] sphery: the current check doesn't prevent MYTHCONFDIR=/.mythtv from working

[04:40:14] sphery: only re-built for the check
[04:40:31] sphery: the check is in mythcontext, though, because where we build dirs in mythdirs.cpp, we can't terminate the app cleanly
[04:40:58] sphery: (i.e. that code is called from a constructor, where we can't provide a return value of use)
[04:41:07] wagnerrp: think gednz is listening on -dev?
[04:41:17] sphery: it would be a hack to stop it in mythdirs

[15:03:54] Guest29845: Is there a fix?
[15:05:03] TheAsp: close your eyes when you do it?  ;)
[15:07:00] martin-lb: just plugged in a new konig "IR Media center remote".. strangest thing, i can change channel without having lirc running
[15:07:25] wagnerrp: martin-lb: it shows up as a keyboard
[15:07:54] martin-lb: wagnerrp: was just about to write that.. no /dev/lirc0 is created either
[15:08:18] martin-lb: it seems that it connects both as keyboard and mouse with /dev/input/event7 and event8

[15:13:21] Guest29845: your receiver wont be lirc compatible
[15:14:03] Guest29845: you can kind the key bindings for each button using xev from a terminal screen
[15:14:18] Guest29845: *find
[15:15:23] martin-lb: ah, alright. Thanks!
[15:15:29] Guest29845: you can add shift and ctrl bindings but not both.
[15:15:58] Guest29845: your remote will use mce shortcuts
[15:16:15] AndyCap: martin-lb: you could use the lircd input driver if that supports exclusive mode
[15:16:22] AndyCap: I don't quite remember now
[15:17:01] martin-lb: Found a wiki page on the mythtv for a similar remote (probably same chipset) http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Snapstream_firefly_mini
[15:17:21] AndyCap: martin-lb: and input subsystem has a tool for connecting disconnecting stuff if I remember correctly

[15:22:02] Guest29845: but if you use it with a logitech like i do you can use those buttons to make keyboard shortcuts

[22:59:14] iamlindoro: If your source is properly defined and your lineup is correctly defined at SD, yes, that is what you do
[22:59:20] muns: kk
[22:59:30] ** iamlindoro goes away **
[22:59:32] muns: i'm doing the mythfilldatabase now and gonna see what i get on outcome in a sec
[23:00:07] muns: haha i'll be here till i get it fixed...got one more week till i return it if its not up by then
[23:00:33] iamlindoro: remember that analog may not be your default input when you start TV-- you may have to change inputs through the menu during Live TV if you want to use the other tuner

[23:03:15] muns: to the analog
[23:03:25] muns: right now...testing again since digital i gave up on for a sec
[23:04:20] muns: yup same static
[23:04:28] muns: back to digital
[23:07:39] muns: now upon following this http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Hauppauge_HVR-1600#Backend_Setup ....do i really have to create an analog and digital section in backend even if i only have 1 cable inserted on the card
[23:08:49] muns: cuz i just bought me a cable amplifier just in case signal was low which cable is fine when cable is connected to tv but bought amp anyways
[23:08:52] muns: to test it out

[23:09:48] muns: and yes i have it connected on the hvr-1600 right on the tv "cable" side

[23:20:18] wagnerrp: skd5aner, iamlindoro: basically, my complaint was that they were 'release notes' rather than 'change logs'
[23:20:43] wagnerrp: if '0.23.1' never gets released, so be it... but '0.23-fixes' is not something that would ever be released
[23:21:02] wagnerrp: 0.23.1 would be branched from it for release instead
[23:21:23] jolaren: Is it possible to set the Miro Bridge to display it's content on mythweb under specific labels?
[23:23:10] RDV_Linux: jolaren: What are you trying to do. I have added the optional "Miro" channel and a channel icon and the Miro videos show up in MythWeb's Recorded Programs screen with their textual meta data

[23:24:37] jolaren: RDV_Linux: When watchin the videos over flash @ mythweb they are not propertly listed (not at all) you have to go thro all recordings and find them manually
[23:25:37] RDV_Linux: jolaren: Did you add a Miro Channel?
[23:26:19] jolaren: I'm not sure if I understand you now

[23:27:02] RDV_Linux: jolaren: You can do it through Mirobridge see the wiki http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/MiroBridge#Adding_ . . . 8optional.29
[23:27:57] jolaren: RDV_Linux: There' already a Miro Channel listed tho

[23:30:52] RDV_Linux: jolaren: I am not sure yet what you are trying to do. I just tried playing a miro video through MythWeb but it did not play. What do you see in the MythWeb Recorded Programs page for Miro videos?
[23:31:13] pak0: begin prog = xmame button = Back/Exit config = 1 end
[23:31:15] pak0: ups
[23:31:16] pak0: sorrt
[23:31:47] jolaren: RDV_Linux: When trying to browse the channel I get "redirect loop errors"
[23:31:54] jolaren: but apart from that it works fine viewing them. .
[23:32:00] jolaren: just that they arent listed
[23:32:03] pak0: i have one error with mythshutdown and cant find info on google, mythshutdown --startup returned : 127
[23:32:07] jolaren: so i have to go thro all recordings to find them
[23:33:30] RDV_Linux: jolaren: Everthing you describe is in regards to MythWeb and MiroBridge. Do these same videos show up and play in Watched Recordings and MythVideo?
[23:33:54] [R]: pak0: what if you enable verbose?
[23:34:13] RDV_Linux: jolaren: That first sentence was a question to be confirmed by you.
[23:34:30] wagnerrp: iamlindoro: i guess those 'reallytightearmuffs' are preventing us getting through to him that its not a bug
[23:34:40] jolaren: RDV_Linux: Yes, correct.
[23:34:45] muns: kk someone help me get this up or somebodies gettin fired
[23:34:47] muns: ;)
[23:34:55] wagnerrp: cutting off the sound and/or blood to the brain
[23:35:09] jolaren: adress//mythweb/tv/channel/9999/1273966456 gives me a redir loop warning and wont show the channel listed by mythweb
[23:35:12] jolaren: i.e the miro bridge
[23:36:37] RDV_Linux: jolaren: Well that is symlink to the actual miro directory. Do the videos all show up in the MythWeb Recorded Programs page?

[23:38:02] muns: done every scan on the dvb capture card settings for this hvr-1600 and scanned terrestrial 8vsb, qam-64, qam-128, qam-256 and still same results with channel 22,63,69,71,72,73 and few others locked on
[23:38:21] RDV_Linux: jolaren: Is this the error you are getting "The page isn't redirecting properly"?

[23:38:59] jolaren: "Sidan dirigeras om felaktigt" which is the Swedish translation of what you've just type
[23:39:01] muns: now those "channels" aint the tv channel 22 for example cuz it says programs ##, encrypted
[23:39:03] jolaren: d
[23:41:09] muns: what do i put under the "Use quick tuning:" "never", or "LiveTV only", or "always"
[23:41:23] RDV_Linux: jolaren: OK, this is because the Miro channel is just there to make the FE "Watch Recordings" screen look nicer. There is no EPG data behind the Miro channel. The schedule for new videos is entirely dependant on the MiroBridge cronjob and the source web sites.
[23:42:56] jolaren: I see, so there is no solution :-) Well I thank you for your help anyways =)
[23:43:08] jolaren: Btw, do you know of a quick way to remove duplicates?
[23:43:22] jolaren: When I installed Mirobridge it created like 100 copies of some of my movies
[23:43:26] jolaren: like in a loop
[23:43:29] jolaren: has been fixed now tho
[23:43:41] jolaren: But manually clicking D and remove is killing me
[23:45:35] RDV_Linux: jolaren: These was a bug that was fixed a couple of weeks ago when a Miro video had invalid metadata (e.g. no title) duplicates occurred. That is fixed in 0.23 and trunk.
[23:45:46] jolaren: Yes, it is fixed
[23:45:53] jolaren: But they have not been remove
[23:45:53] jolaren: d
[23:47:37] RDV_Linux: jolaren: Nothing I can suggest except for the delete method that was killing you
[23:50:59] jolaren: I'm backin up my movies
[23:51:02] jolaren: and removing them
[23:51:07] jolaren: then reinstalling miro
[23:51:10] jolaren: easier
[23:53:05] jolaren: It's so great with such a helpful community :)
[23:53:08] RDV_Linux: jolaren: Before restoring your movies but after installing Miro run mirobridge once and it will clean up any left over miro records in MythTV db
