[00:04:00] Cyberknet: GreyFoxx around?
[00:05:00] ** xris pokes Cyberknet **
[00:05:00] xris: he was earlier
[00:06:00] Cyberknet: heh
[00:06:00] Cyberknet: Beirdo was around much earlier.
[00:06:00] xris: so I think I'll be getting my first google adsense check next month
[00:06:00] Cyberknet: about 17 hours earlier.
[00:06:00] Cyberknet: woohoo =)
[00:06:00] Cyberknet: $100 well earned.
[00:06:00] Cyberknet: more earned that milliondollarhomepage.com
[00:07:00] xris: yup\
[00:07:00] Netslayer (n=chris@c-24-126-202-231.hsd1.ca.comcast.net) Quit ("Leaving")
[00:07:00] Cyberknet: finished installing myth on FC4
[00:07:00] xris: wish people would click on my ads more often, though
[00:07:00] xris: cool
[00:07:00] Cyberknet: fairly straight forward.
[00:07:00] xris: svn?
[00:07:00] Cyberknet: Not yet.
[00:07:00] xris: I have specs for svn if you want them
[00:07:00] Cyberknet: rpm. quicker, and I had a deadline.
[00:07:00] Cyberknet: hmmmm
[00:08:00] Cyberknet: If I knew how to use them that would be great.
[00:08:00] Cyberknet: I could update to SVN later.
[00:08:00] xris: pretty easy
[00:08:00] xris: let me know if you want me to explain.. takes about 3 minutes
[00:08:00] xris: lots of new stuff in mythweb.  :)
[00:08:00] Cyberknet: I'd like to run SVN, just not sure that SVN right now is good for live tv
[00:08:00] xris: it's not good for livetv
[00:08:00] Cyberknet: sure, that'd be great
[00:08:00] xris: pretty sure it's still borked.
[00:08:00] Cyberknet: yeah, that's what I thought.
[00:09:00] Cyberknet: not sure how far away the next release is.
[00:09:00] Cyberknet: it seems like there's a fair amount of stuff to stabilize before that
[00:09:00] Cyberknet: but from what I hear, things are moving along at a fairly rapid rate
[00:09:00] Cyberknet: so who knows... it could be soon I guess.
[00:10:00] xris: I think the livetv fix is the last thing isaac really wants done before the release
[00:11:00] xris: I know he wants to push .19 out soonish, but obviously wants to get it as stable as possible first
[00:11:00] xris: so it could still be a month or two
[00:11:00] Cyberknet: I keep hearing nice things about the new mythweb... you must have done a good job =)
[00:11:00] xris: I like it
[00:11:00] Cyberknet: 0.18 was a great release
[00:11:00] Cyberknet: very stable.
[00:11:00] Cyberknet: I think possibly the best release yet.
[00:11:00] xris: not a LOT of superficial changes, but a lot of core stuff behind the scenes that'll make it easier to expand, add plugins, etc
[00:12:00] ** Cyberknet pokes greyfoxx **
[00:12:00] xris: there's a LOT of cool stuff coming in .19... I can't really remember what all is new, since I've been using it from early on
[00:12:00] xris: I did finally get the custom recording stuff put into mythweb today, though
[00:12:00] Cyberknet: yeah, and the ajax support is going to make things really fly.
[00:12:00] xris: only the recorded programs page has ajax
[00:13:00] xris: would like to do it on the "upcoming" page, but that'd take a LOT of work because it's all handled by the backend scheduler
[00:13:00] Cyberknet: true that
[00:13:00] Cyberknet: So I guess the GL interface isn't going to make it into .19
[00:13:00] Lad (n=manish@222.11.169.217.in-addr.arpa) has joined #mythtv-users
[00:13:00] xris: hmm
[00:13:00] xris: dunno
[00:13:00] Cyberknet: I haven't heard much talking about it lately on the dev list
[00:14:00] DanMeister: I'm just putting my list of component together for my Myth box now.
[00:14:00] DanMeister: A$850 already.
[00:14:00] Cyberknet: A$ indicating what currency?
[00:15:00] DanMeister: AUD
[00:15:00] Cyberknet: AUD is much more descriptive.
[00:15:00] xris: DanMeister: not that bad, then
[00:15:00] Cyberknet: that's pretty good actually
[00:15:00] xris: good mythbox probably costs abour $600 US minimum
[00:15:00] Cyberknet: you could easily spend USD$850 on it.
[00:15:00] DanMeister: At the moment, still have to include the TV tuner cards, and the case.
[00:16:00] xris: mine was $500 3 years ago... though I didn't pay for it (traded OT)
[00:16:00] xris: added pvr-150 this year, and a free air2pc from jarod
[00:16:00] xris: really need to figure out how to export HD stuff from nuvexport
[00:17:00] Cyberknet: I've put more money into mine than I care to think about
[00:17:00] Cyberknet: for something that I put together from free parts because I could ... it sure has drank a lot of money since then
[00:17:00] Cyberknet: and I don't think my gear is all *that* great
[00:17:00] xris: I still want a dvb card
[00:17:00] Cyberknet: although my RAID card rocks the socks off of anything =)
[00:18:00] ** Cyberknet loves his 9500S-4LP **
[00:18:00] xris: yeah, I need one of those
[00:18:00] DanMeister: Mine isn't going to be that special either. 3200+, 1GB RAM, 200G HDD.
[00:18:00] Cyberknet: expensive bastard, but sweet.
[00:18:00] xris: best card out there... well, was before the new ones
[00:18:00] Cyberknet: DanMeister: I'm talking about a 2100+, 512MB ram... though I do have 250GB Raid1
[00:19:00] ** Cyberknet wants 500GB Raid5 **
[00:19:00] Cyberknet: the new ones??
[00:19:00] Cyberknet: dammit.
[00:19:00] Cyberknet: oh... the SATAII ones?
[00:19:00] xris: thought they had a 9600 out... nevermind
[00:19:00] Cyberknet: the 9550SX
[00:20:00] dave__: Am I blind or is there no rip button in mythdvd
[00:20:00] DanMeister: Cyberknet: I'm putting the serious HDD space into my desktop machine. I'm looking at 2+ 300G drives.
[00:20:00] dave__: to actually begin the transcode
[00:20:00] xris: anyway, latest firmware/drivers for the 95xx cards is apparently the best they've ever done.
[00:20:00] xris: dave__: might not be compiled in
[00:21:00] dave__: xris, wouldnt that not even show the import cd button?
[00:21:00] Cyberknet: xris: I'll have to download it. I haven't updated the firmware since I got the card.
[00:21:00] xris: no. dvd and cd ripping are separate
[00:21:00] GreyFoxx: Mooo
[00:21:00] GreyFoxx: Cyberknet: Around now
[00:21:00] Cyberknet: w00t
[00:21:00] dave__: xris, it says import dvd
[00:21:00] Cyberknet: do you have any special modprobe.conf entries for ati_remote.ko ?
[00:22:00] xris: dave__: no clue, then.
[00:22:00] GreyFoxx: I pass parameters manually in a modprobe line in my init script, but if I was gonna put one it would be
[00:22:00] dave__: xris, it shows the dvd settings for rip but I cant start it theres no button that says "start"
[00:22:00] GreyFoxx: option ati_remote lolatype=1
[00:22:00] Cyberknet: gotcha
[00:23:00] Cyberknet: you have an init script for the remote?
[00:23:00] GreyFoxx: not specifically, I have rc.pvr for all the pvr related stuff
[00:23:00] GreyFoxx: that's just a line or 3 of it
[00:24:00] Cyberknet: aha
[00:24:00] Cyberknet: gah

[00:25:00] ** Cyberknet runs a depmod -ae **
[00:26:00] Cyberknet: yeah. unknown symbol in module.
[00:26:00] Cyberknet: I wonder what could be different in the source i downloaded vs the binary kernel that was already installed
[00:28:00] GreyFoxx: I can only imagine :)

[00:31:00] Cyberknet: oh!
[00:31:00] Cyberknet: I think I went about this the wrong way for FC4
[00:32:00] Cyberknet: I never ran FC3 and I think they changed how you do it for FC3 & 4 vs FC2
[00:32:00] Cyberknet: whoops
[00:33:00] Cyberknet: I had created an exploded copy of the kernel source, and that's not necessary
[00:33:00] GreyFoxx: Not being a FC user I wouldn't know :)
[00:33:00] Cyberknet: http://www.phaze.org/mythtv/ati_remote.c still the best place to get the latest module source from?
[00:33:00] GreyFoxx: The only place :)
[00:33:00] Cyberknet: heh
[00:34:00] DanMeister: Gotta get. Catch yas later.
[00:34:00] Cyberknet: sometimes my own stupidity astounds me.
[00:34:00] GreyFoxx: Though I suppose I should compare it to a more recent ati_remote.c to see if it's compatible with newer 2.6 kernels
[00:34:00] Cyberknet: later dan
[00:34:00] Cyberknet: you don't run it on 2.6?
[00:34:00] GreyFoxx: Yes, but
[00:34:00] GreyFoxx: I'm referring to newer than what I;m using it with

[00:38:00] ChewVodka: hello again, can somebody help me get TV-Out on my GeForce MX4000?
[00:39:00] darkdrgn2k: does mplayer do DVD menus?
[00:40:00] GreyFoxx: darkdrgn2k: No
[00:40:00] darkdrgn2k: GreyFoxx: is there an alternative to mplayer with myth?
[00:40:00] darkdrgn2k: GreyFoxx: for dvds
[00:40:00] GreyFoxx: most use xine for dvd playback
[00:41:00] darkdrgn2k: k kool
[00:41:00] Cyberknet: w00t
[00:41:00] Cyberknet: it helps when you make modules per your dist's instructions
[00:42:00] ChewVodka: is there a reason why the tvout on my video card works until X loads?
[00:42:00] darkdrgn2k: ChanServ: yes cuase until X loads the OS uses VESA
[00:43:00] darkdrgn2k: ChanServ: your drivrs arent VESA, to get video out you need to config your drivers to do it
[00:43:00] GreyFoxx: cause the bios on the card defaults to tvout being on, the x driver defaults to off and you haven't configured it to be on in X
[00:43:00] darkdrgn2k: ChanServ: or run a VESA environment and not get any acceleration (like i do)
[00:44:00] ChewVodka: how do i configure it to be on then? in my xorg.conf i have included the lines "option" "tvstandard" "ntsc-m"
[00:44:00] ChewVodka: and the "tvoutformat" "s-video"
[00:44:00] Cyberknet: GreyFoxx: ever have trouble with the arrow keys stopping responding in menus?
[00:44:00] GreyFoxx: Cyberknet: Nope
[00:44:00] darkdrgn2k: ChewVodka: donno on ATI cards is "notvout" "no"
[00:45:00] ChewVodka: i'm trying to search the internet but i'm not finding any really helpful guides
[00:45:00] Cyberknet: and the map of buttons->keys is in the source?
[00:45:00] Amankhan (n=N@c-24-22-194-103.hsd1.wa.comcast.net) Quit (Read error: 110 (Connection timed out))
[00:46:00] GreyFoxx: yes
[00:46:00] Cyberknet: this is odd... the arrow keys will just stop responding.
[00:46:00] ChewVodka: i'm almost about to drop the whole myth idea and go with Winblows MCE :(
[00:47:00] GreyFoxx: I never bothered to put it out of the source.
[00:47:00] darkdrgn2k: ChewVodka: so do it.. MCE is USSLESS
[00:48:00] darkdrgn2k: ChewVodka: set your driver to VESA unill you figure the rest out..
[00:48:00] ChewVodka: i don't want to do it :)
[00:48:00] darkdrgn2k: ChewVodka: then go search the net
[00:48:00] darkdrgn2k: ChewVodka: my ATI wont do video out w/p vesa.. so i did it.. it works pritty good
[00:49:00] darkdrgn2k: but if you do use vesa make sure to cahnge mplayer to use -vo x11 not vw
[00:50:00] Cyberknet: where would be the best place to investigate for unresponsive button presses?
[00:50:00] GreyFoxx: ChewVodka: What Driver is it set to use ? And I mean what is the exact line from the xorg.conf
[00:50:00] ChewVodka: darkdrgn2k i'd like to try and get it to work without forcing vesa
[00:50:00] GreyFoxx: Cyberknet: load the module with debug=1 and then kernel messages/dmesg will contain an entry for every key press
[00:50:00] GreyFoxx: If anything you will know if the driver saw the key press
[00:51:00] ChewVodka: brb

[06:49:00] Beirdo: I switched to SVN pretty quick after that experiment
[06:50:00] rjune: I'll ask my wife. asking my mom seems too oedipal for me
[06:50:00] Beirdo: heh

[07:53:00] PaulWay: What are you installing it from?
[07:54:00] sportman: breezy ubuntu
[07:54:00] PaulWay: Are there ubuntu packages for MythTV>
[07:54:00] PaulWay: s/>/?/
[07:54:00] sportman: yes
[07:54:00] sportman: in synapticf
[07:54:00] sportman: but it doesnt resolve all dependencies
[07:54:00] sportman: should i just use a different apt repo?
[07:54:00] PaulWay: What dependencies do you have?
[07:55:00] PaulWay: You may need the marillat repo.
[07:55:00] sportman: ah
[07:55:00] sportman: i found a website
[07:55:00] sportman: with ubuntu install info
[07:55:00] PaulWay: This website – what does it say about the dependencies?
[07:56:00] sportman: gives me 5 repositories
[07:56:00] sportman: for debian
[07:56:00] sportman: that contain everything needed
[07:56:00] sportman: all dependencies
[07:56:00] PaulWay: And you're using all of them but it doesn't resolve the depencies?
[07:58:00] sportman: no
[07:58:00] sportman: i just found it
[07:58:00] sportman: im going to use it now
[07:58:00] sportman: i should be good 2 go

[07:59:00] sportman: :)
[08:00:00] PaulWay: Well that's good news :-)
[08:02:00] sportman: do you think i ned the deb-src repositories
[08:02:00] sportman: or just the regular
[08:02:00] PaulWay: No, I wouldn't think so.
[08:03:00] sportman: would it hurt?
[08:03:00] PaulWay: No.
[08:04:00] PaulWay: At some point, for some bizarre reason, one package might require the development headers of another package, but I can't foresee that happening.
[08:06:00] sportman: ok
[08:06:00] sportman: well
[08:06:00] sportman: added the repositories
[08:06:00] sportman: refreshing synaptic
[08:08:00] sportman: hmm
[08:08:00] sportman: didnt wokr

[08:17:00] sportman: yea
[08:17:00] sportman: the site i had linked to bad repositories
[08:17:00] sportman: i found a better one
[08:17:00] PaulWay: Ah.
[08:17:00] PaulWay: Does 'marillat' feature anywhere in there?
[08:17:00] sportman: and now im installing each dependency with apt-get install
[08:17:00] sportman: ill look in a moment
[08:17:00] PaulWay: Because I believe that's supposed to be good for most dependencies.
[08:18:00] PaulWay: Go the whole hog and just apt-get install mythtv-suite :-)

[10:53:00] asperon: hi guys, i am having some problems getting X to instruct my cle266 via gfx chipset to send PAL and not NTSC to my tv (or alteast thats what i think its doing, since the image is lacking colours). The card sends PAL during the boot (and during the bootsplash) since i told it to in the bios, but as soon as X is loaded it goes black and white, any clues to what might be wrong?
[10:55:00] asperon: when i run mkxf86config i get:
[10:55:00] asperon: Video is (yet) unknown card, using XFree86(vesa) Server
[10:55:00] asperon: Monitor is Generic Monitor, H:28.0–96.0kHz, V:50.0–75.0Hz
[10:55:00] asperon: Using Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
[10:56:00] asperon: does that mean that its failing to detect the cle266 chipset?
[11:02:00] chuggachu (n=chuggs@rddrpx37-port-9.dial.telus.net) has joined #mythtv-users
[11:29:00] Juski: asperon: there is yet another option in your video conf file, and that's the one where you tell it not just what standard the video is, but how to send the video.. that is.. svideo or composite. If you are connected with composite but the conf file is using svideo, you will only get monochrome video out
[11:29:00] Juski: the reverse is also likely.. i.e. if you have it set to composite but youre using the svideo connection, you'll get only black & white video ;)
[11:31:00] Juski: aaand you need to make sure not_myth has the via CLE266 drivers. this might be where you end up regretting not using another distro
[11:33:00] asperon: Juski: when i boots knoppix is seeing it as a via bla bla bla castle rock cle266 etc so it should have the driver, or?
[11:34:00] asperon: Juski: is there any way to make sure it has the driver?
[11:34:00] Juski: just done some googling – seems 5a16 has epia support
[11:34:00] asperon: yes, and this is 5a26, so it should be good
[11:35:00] neuro|laptop: happy mailman day!
[11:35:00] Juski: look for the section in your xf86 config file where the following line is:
[11:35:00] Juski: driver "xxxx"
[11:35:00] Juski: and put "via" there instead
[11:36:00] Juski: and by the way: happy new year!!!
[11:36:00] asperon: happy new year! =)
[11:37:00] asperon: Juski: i have Driver "via" under device
[11:40:00] Juski: right, so I think it autodetected your graphics adapter properly at least
[11:40:00] Juski: are you using composite or s-video?
[11:40:00] asperon: the composite is the yellow cable to go with the red and white rca, and the s-video is the one that looks a bit like a ps/2, right?
[11:40:00] Juski: yep
[11:40:00] asperon: then i am using compite, is this bad, i have a s-video cable to, so i can swap if needed/better?
[11:40:00] asperon: composite
[11:40:00] Juski: asperon: try using svideo.. I think that's the default the driver sets the tv output to if you don't tell it what to use
[11:40:00] asperon: ok, ill swap
[11:40:00] Juski: svid is _much_ better quality that composite anyway
[11:40:00] Juski: *than
[11:42:00] asperon: hmm, i dont have s-video in on the tv, but i have a s-video -> composite adapter, so that i can connect it to my existing scart cable, is this a good idea?
[11:44:00] Juski: yeh that'd be ok
[11:45:00] asperon: ok, changed, should i need to reboot? since the was no change on the tv
[11:45:00] Juski: hmmm
[11:45:00] Juski: shouldnt have to reboot
[11:47:00] asperon: hang on, it could still be that its in NTSC
[11:47:00] Juski: find the part in the config file... as follows:
[11:47:00] Juski: Section "Device"
[11:47:00] Juski: put the following lines in there:
[11:48:00] Juski: Option "TVType" "PAL"
[11:48:00] Juski: Option "TVOutput" "Composite"
[11:48:00] Juski: save the file, then reboot or restart the X server
[11:48:00] Juski: oh you might want to add the line:
[11:48:00] asperon: and switch back to composite then i assume?
[11:49:00] Juski: Option "TVVScan" "over"
[11:49:00] Juski: yes
[11:52:00] Juski: ooo I wanna get me one of these things: http://www.mini-itx.com/news/images/story0412-01L.jpg
[11:52:00] asperon: that did the trick!
[11:53:00] asperon: i haven't swapped the cables back though
[11:53:00] Juski: buy me a virtual beer & we'll call it quits ;-)
[11:53:00] Juski: asperon: the other thing you might like to do is set the video mode you're using to 720x576NoScale
[11:53:00] asperon: Juski: how do i do that?
[11:53:00] Juski: before I did that on my frontend, video didn't look as good.. the TV output chip rescales video & that introduces funny artifacts in the picture, noticable on moving objects
[11:53:00] asperon: in xf86config?
[11:54:00] Juski: in the section labelled
[11:54:00] Juski: Section "Screen"
[11:54:00] Juski: there should be a bunch of lines with 'Modes'
[11:54:00] asperon: there are
[11:55:00] Juski: comment them out & try putting the line
[11:55:00] asperon: SubSection "Display"
[11:55:00] asperon: Depth 1
[11:55:00] asperon: Modes "800x600" "640x480"
[11:55:00] asperon: EndSubSection
[11:55:00] Juski: Modes "720x576Noscale"
[11:55:00] asperon: on every one?
[11:56:00] Juski: I mean comment out the 'Modes "800x600" "640x480" ' lines and put that one in its place
[11:56:00] asperon: yes
[11:56:00] asperon: but i have like 7 sections
[11:56:00] Juski: I seriously doubt you really need a 1-bit colour mode
[11:56:00] asperon: with different colour dept
[11:56:00] asperon: =)
[11:56:00] Juski: comment out all but the 16 & 24 bit ones – that should be ok
[11:56:00] asperon: ok
[11:59:00] Juski: asperon: where in the world are you anyway?
[11:59:00] asperon: sweden
[11:59:00] asperon: well, ill restart and we'll see how it works
[11:59:00] Juski: how was New Year's eve in Sweden?
[11:59:00] Juski: asperon: if it borked anything, comment out the new line & uncomment the old one.. 800x600 is okay...
[11:59:00] asperon: great, had dinner with a couple of friends, drank some champain and watched the fireworks
[11:59:00] asperon: were are you?
[11:59:00] Juski: the later versions of the via driver _should_ be ok with that mode name though
[11:59:00] Juski: Manchester in the UK
[11:59:00] Juski: had big dinner with my wife, drank lots of wine & JD... watched fireworks and turned my stereo all the way up to 11
[11:59:00] asperon: aha, not that far away then =), sounds like a nice evening
[11:59:00] Juski: yeh it was very nice. certainly a lot better than when I used to be a DJ
[12:00:00] asperon: yeah, long hours, seems to be working nicely, since myth is now rescaling the theme images
[12:00:00] Juski: have you seen those nano-itx boards? they look pretty cute.. can't wait til they're available to buy
[12:01:00] Juski: be great if they can do HDTV too
[12:01:00] Juski: asperon: excellent news
[12:01:00] asperon: no, i just gasp everytime i open up my mini-itx, i think it is small
[12:01:00] Juski: when mine arrived I took it into work to show it off :)

[12:21:00] PaulWay: t00m: do you also have a .profile?

[12:22:00] PaulWay: Because I can't remember which, but one works for login shells and another for ... whatever the other type is.
[12:22:00] PaulWay: Put it in both just in case.
[12:22:00] t00m: o dear, .profile seems to be a relic

[12:22:00] t00m: but i'm running gentoo :)
[12:23:00] dtm: t00m: maybe you could try 'export PAGER=/usr/bin/less' ?
[12:23:00] t00m: i'll just delete the .profile

[12:44:00] Juski: why just under /mnt
[12:44:00] Juski: ?
[12:44:00] Juski: you can mount em wherever you like
[12:45:00] cesman: that is what /mnt is for
[12:45:00] cesman: and it was only a suggestion
[12:45:00] Juski: but putting them under /mnt minimises the risk of conflicting with other things ;)
[12:47:00] duomaxwell: Whats the most recent list of tuner cards witha remote for PCI or PCI Express 1x?
[12:48:00] cesman: your kernel should have a list of tuners that v4l supports
[12:49:00] cesman: for ivtv, I'd suggest a look at thier wiki
[12:49:00] Juski: duomaxwell: the list of PCI express tuner cards can be written on your thumbnail
[12:50:00] duomaxwell: the list would be in Ubuntu?
[12:50:00] Juski: with linux support, there's basically.. the Hauppauge PVR series of cards if you want hardware MPEG encoding
[12:50:00] cesman: this list would be in the kernel source
[12:51:00] duomaxwell: Juski: heh, I'm sure it can, hell with the right stuff the library of congress can
[12:51:00] Juski: there's also the list on the v4l & ivtv wiki pages

[12:56:00] Juski: TylerGalus: the best way would be to create a bunch of dummy files using the _touch_ command in the recordings directory
[12:56:00] Juski: then delete them the _proper_ way in mythtv
[12:57:00] Juski: tip – look in the mythtv log for the filenames (they'll appear when mythtv tries to delete non-existent files)

[13:00:00] Juski: duomaxwell: in the past, the English have been responsible for revolutionising television.. its just that the Great British public see no immediate need to upgrade. I mean our SDTV is pretty good to start with – HD isn't so much of a quantum leap for us

[13:01:00] Juski: I dunno.. we've got 10Mbit widely available now
[13:01:00] Juski: nothing on the kind of scale you get in some parts of Europe or Japan but hey
[13:02:00] duomaxwell: wern't there restrictions on use? been a few months lol

[13:04:00] Juski: I was shocked to see that 100mbit broadband they have in Japan for less than I pay for a 2mb pipe
[13:04:00] duomaxwell: Juski: from what I;ve heard thats only in network, to connect from outside of japan thats only 24Mbps, still faster then most of the worlds lines tho
[13:05:00] TylerGalus: ok the log appends to the bottom yes? (i'm asking because i've seen wierd logs that append to the top)
[13:06:00] Juski: logs append to the bottom end in mythtv, yes
[13:07:00] Juski: duomaxwell: so? still pretty damn impressive
[13:08:00] Juski: problem here is the age-old 'last mile' issue.. all that antiquated copper they'd have to pull out & replace

[13:18:00] Juski: it should work
[13:19:00] Juski: you go to delete the show, but mythtv says it doesn't exist, so you make the file exist & the problem goes away

[13:20:00] Juski: then you'd have _no_ recordings
[13:20:00] Juski: at least, none in the DB
[13:24:00] TylerGalus: ok not to sound like a total newb but i am when it comes to databases.. how would i do that?
[13:24:00] TylerGalus: is it drop <tablename>?
[13:25:00] Juski: er.. no don't drop it
[13:26:00] Juski: use a thing like webmin or phpmyadmin & just clear the table
[13:26:00] Juski: anyway how did you end up having no files for shows but stuff in the DB? you _did_ delete them in mythtv didn't you?
[13:26:00] TylerGalus: yes
[13:27:00] Juski: in the meantime if I were you I'd make some test recordings & see if you can delete them ok
[13:27:00] Juski: there may be more wrong
[13:29:00] TylerGalus: those worked.. the only thing i can thing of is i shut down all mythtv processes and moved the directory so i could move everything to my new 600gb LVM partition that i mounted at the old save point (/mnt/tv) then i deleted them from mythtv since they all had started at the wrong time (my cable service is 5 min behind)
[13:30:00] TylerGalus: but i made sure everything was back where it should've been before i started mythtv and tried deleting anything

[16:52:00] Arkkis: Merlin83b, if you could tell me the right table from the database to clear, and the clear command so that mythtv would not die because of it
[16:53:00] Merlin83b: Arkkis: I'm not certain but I'd guess at videometadata
[16:54:00] Juski: Merlin83b: choppy multiplex eh? might be a signal level issue
[16:54:00] Arkkis: hmm, I'll have to try to remember the sql commands then and find that table, verify it's content and then somehow clear it. that is, unless someone can tell me the right command

[22:55:00] thanatoast: I managed to get nuvexport to "work" I told it do do asf, it spent 36 minutes and 11 seconds encoding 55579 of 0 frames and seems to have created no new file. Any ideas?
[22:58:00] Beirdo: looks like it's working
[22:59:00] thanatoast: Not sure I understand what it is doing. How can there be 55,579 of 0 frames
[23:00:00] Beirdo: because the tool nuvexport uses didn't return the frame count in the form expected
[23:00:00] Beirdo: or something
[23:00:00] Beirdo: it was working
[23:00:00] thanatoast: But it never made a file
[23:01:00] Beirdo: it should have
[23:02:00] thanatoast: Hmm, I guess I will record 5 minutes of something and mess with that, instead of waiting 40 minutes for each test.
[23:02:00] Beirdo: good plan
[23:04:00] thanatoast: I'm sure I'll be back  :)
