[00:38:00] PITABoy: is there a way to overide this
[00:38:00] GreyFoxx: only if you configure it to transcode
[00:38:00] Chutt: don't configure it to transcode, then
[00:38:00] PITABoy: how do i do that

[00:46:00] jono: no its asking whcih pal to select – pal-b pal-d pal-g etc
[00:46:00] xanderp: Brazil has PAL-M, but the UK is (I believe) just straight up vanilla PAL
[00:46:00] jono: not sure which one to pick
[00:46:00] jono: there is no straight PAL
[00:46:00] xanderp: hrmmm

[00:47:00] jono: pal-cn
[00:47:00] jono: pal-k1
[00:47:00] jono: and then pal-<letter> for b d g h i k l n m
[00:48:00] xanderp: i think UK is scart
[00:48:00] xanderp: although i thought that scart was a type of PLUG for the connection to the TV, not the broadcast format
[00:49:00] jono: a site says it is pal-i
[00:49:00] jono: now its asking for tv output standard selection – video, scart or yuv – I want to use the s-video output
[00:49:00] rjune: wow, it's way more complicated over ther
[00:50:00] xanderp: ahha!! scart IS a type of connection!
[00:50:00] jono: which one should I choose?
[00:51:00] xanderp: apparently the UK has 2 different PAL's one for VHF and one for UHF
[00:51:00] xanderp: PAL(B) and PAL(I)

[02:27:00] Dagmar: _nero_: OKay, honestly, I just don't get what the heck it's problem is. libGLU should be sitting right there in /usr/X11R6/lib and that's even explicitly specified in the g++ invocation
[02:27:00] Dagmar: _nero_ I know it's not much consolation, but it really _should_ be working
[02:27:00] _nero_: Dagmar, and it is sitting right there..
[02:27:00] _nero_: hehe.. I know it should.. ;)
[02:27:00] Dagmar: Madness
[02:27:00] xanderp: hrmmm /cache ??? maybe the livetv buffers?
[02:27:00] wooties: /cache is used for the live tvbuffer

[02:28:00] xanderp: odd i just put that on my root
[02:28:00] xanderp: i have boot, swap, root, and video as my only partitions
[02:28:00] wooties: and your telling me for "/" just do 32 megs?
[02:28:00] xanderp: nope
[02:28:00] wooties: im trying to stay to the knopp directions
[02:28:00] xanderp: for /boot just need enough for a couple of kernel versions, so i use about 32M or 64M

[02:29:00] wooties: how much for "/" then?

[02:29:00] Dagmar: The location of storage and the location of the ringbuffer are trivially easy to set tho
[02:29:00] xanderp: (from the video directory that is)
[02:30:00] xanderp: you could even put your storage on a remote filesystem (NFS, SAMBA, etc...)
[02:30:00] xanderp: if your network is fast enough
[02:31:00] dhofstra: jarrod has a nice list of directory sizes on his walkthrough
[02:31:00] wooties: so "/" 40 gigs "swap" 1500m "/cache" 40 gigs "/mythtv" the rest?
[02:31:00] dhofstra: http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/fcmyth.php#sw
[02:32:00] Dagmar: 40Gb for /? Expansive...
[02:32:00] wooties: well dagmar
[02:32:00] wooties: tell me the sizes i should use for "/" "swap" "/cache" "/myth"
[02:32:00] Dagmar: This URL is way more reasonable. You can stick an entire mutliple-DE installation of Linux in 8Gb
[02:32:00] wooties: im trying to install knoppmyth
[02:33:00] Dagmar: That URL http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/fcmyth.php#sw covers what little is needed
[02:33:00] Gumby (n=gumby@unaffiliated/gumby) Quit ("Leaving")
[02:33:00] Dagmar: ...and basically if you have new hardware, you can skip making /boot it's own partition
[02:33:00] wooties: ah ok the knoppmyth setup is tellign em somethign different for drive names
[02:34:00] dhofstra: I like the wilsonnet suggestion.. only maybe put a /var in there somewhere and it'd be perfect for a myth setup
[02:34:00] Gumby (n=gumby@unaffiliated/gumby) has joined #mythtv-users
[02:34:00] wooties: Select partition and create 4 partitions using cfdisk. The first will be /, the second swap, the third /cache and fourth /myth. I recommend 2.5 gigs for /, swap should be 1.5 times memory, /cache is used for the live tvbuffer. I'd recommend 3 to 10 gigs depending how your tuner card and hard drive size
[02:35:00] wooties: ^^ so ignore that?
[02:35:00] dhofstra: cuz sometimes the logs in /var can go crazy man, crazy
[02:35:00] Dagmar: Just as long as you don't do something that forces /cache to be at the end of your disk
[02:35:00] wooties: do i even need cache?
[02:35:00] Dagmar: Not really. You can use the same space your video recordings go into if you like
[02:36:00] wooties: ah ok thats best
[02:36:00] Dagmar: I've had no problems with it, but then I'm nowhere near full
[02:36:00] wooties: dso really i only need 3 partitions
[02:36:00] wooties: swap
[02:36:00] wooties: and /video
[02:36:00] Dagmar: The only reason you'd want to separate them is because it might be problematic to watch TV if you fill up your disk
[02:36:00] wooties: ah ok
[02:36:00] Ryushin (i=proxy@windwalker.openinnovations.com) Quit ("Client exiting")
[02:37:00] Dagmar: I'm close to 1/2 Tb now so I don't think I'm going to be running out of space anytime soon
[02:37:00] dhofstra: in fact 4 or 5 partitions:
[02:37:00] wooties: so for root 8 gigs is fine?
[02:37:00] Dagmar: Yeah
[02:37:00] dhofstra: boot, swap, / , and home (or video if you like) and optionally /var as a 5th
[02:37:00] Dagmar: 8Gb is enough to install like, ALL of FC4 or Mandrake
[02:37:00] wooties: cool
[02:38:00] wooties: i think ill do a cache would hate to not beable to watch tv
[02:38:00] Criggie: Dagmar: I got 480 Gb and I'm at 100% all round
[02:38:00] dhofstra: I have suse just loaded to the frickin brim with everything and I am using 10.5GB out of 15 for root

[02:39:00] dhofstra: yeah, asking 'whats the best partitioning scheme' is prolly alot like 'what's the best distro'

[02:39:00] Nothingman: now, I shouldn't need anything in particular such as mysql on that second or third (etc.) machine, right?
[02:39:00] dhofstra: LOL
[02:40:00] jams: hey _nero_ hows that theme coming along
[02:40:00] _nero_: jams- I actually have a workable version of it available.. :)
[02:40:00] _nero_: its not complete, but very usable.
[02:40:00] jams: woohoo
[02:40:00] dhofstra: wooties: you can set 4 or 5 primaries I believe... I usually set the max as primary, and make the last available one logical and put all the remaining filesystems within the logical
[02:40:00] Criggie: Nothingman: you're having remote access tp mysql problems
[02:40:00] jams: only took 12 months =)

[02:42:00] teevee: i'm exporting using nuvexport-dvd, can anyone point me to some documentation or tell me a program I can use or what I might do to author this into actual DVD files? (ifo, buf, vob...)
[02:42:00] wooties: dh 300 gigs
[02:42:00] jams: teevee- nuv2disc, mythburn , dvdauthor
[02:42:00] wooties: dhofstra: i want to make the root bootable right?
[02:43:00] jams: simple dvdauthor instructions can be found in the mythtv docs
[02:43:00] teevee: jams: where does nuv2disc come from? is it its own package?
[02:43:00] dhofstra: I'd do PRIMARY: /boot=100mb swap=512mb or 1024mb /=10Gb , /var=3Gb , and LOGICAL: /home=all the rest.
[02:43:00] Dagmar: You sure you need a /boot partition?
[02:43:00] jams: teevee- you can find it on the forums or at extras.mythtvtalk.com
[02:44:00] dhofstra: wooties... not sure if you make / or /boot bootable.

[02:45:00] rjune: nickv111: sounds like the repo doesn't exist anymore
[02:45:00] nickv111: rjune: Then how do I get mythtv running on debian?

[02:46:00] rjune: nickv111: dunno, I don't use debian
[02:46:00] Dagmar: wooties: I've never bothered to set labels at all
[02:46:00] GreyFoxx: heh, I generally do / 500–750Meg, swap varies based on OS and machines purpose, 3–5G on /usr, depending on box might have a /usr/local, 5–7G on /var, if box is a mail server a large /var/spool and the rest as /export (where I place /home)

[04:04:00] rjune: Chutt: we're used to text files though
[04:05:00] Pio: because i'll start this system, and small tv apps like tvtime produce a nice clean sound on my capturing input on my sound card.. but then i start myth, and it instantly becomes very distorted, and even if i restore the alsa state that was being used when tvtime was working, it remains distorted

[06:50:00] Juski: ahh.. then maybe the mount has broken

[06:50:00] subbie: Juski: but i am able to create files
[06:50:00] EnterUserName: how do i use avidemux2
[06:50:00] EnterUserName: which format do i save it as
[06:50:00] Juski: subbie.. there's a minimum free disk space mythtv wants.. how much free space do you have on there?
[06:51:00] subbie: Juski: 240gigs
[06:53:00] Juski: hmmm
[06:53:00] Juski: well I gotta get ready for work

[07:02:00] Juski: ah ok
[07:02:00] subbie: and its weird because i can create files as mythtv user in that directory no problem
[07:02:00] subbie: i have all the proper permissions
[07:02:00] Juski: was just gonna ask that
[07:03:00] subbie: is there somewhere mythtv would dump error messages if there were any?
[07:03:00] Juski: in the mythbackend log
[07:03:00] subbie: i checked dmesg and var/log/messges and there was nothing out of the ordinary
[07:03:00] Juski: I think dmesg is more for the kernel
[07:04:00] subbie: yeah, but i figured if tehre were I/O messages they woudl be in there
[07:04:00] Juski: try /var/log/mythtv
[07:04:00] Juski: does livetv still work?
[07:04:00] subbie: yeah
[07:04:00] subbie: works fine
[07:04:00] subbie: and i can watch all the old shows i copied over
[07:04:00] subbie: heres something i see that isn't right
[07:04:00] Juski: the reason it's not recording any more might have had more to do with the capture/tuner card

[07:06:00] Juski: so that's why you're not recording
[07:06:00] subbie: let me quickly go to the actual terminal and see what it says
[07:06:00] Juski: but live & recording are the same thing basically
[07:07:00] Juski: subbie... when you changed the disk over did you restart mythbackend?
[07:07:00] subbie: subbie: i dont think so, im not sure.
[07:08:00] subbie: i just checked and now live isn't working either

[07:14:00] Dagmar: Basically, when you boot up there's a facility called "hotplug" that begins managing USB and PCI devices...
[07:14:00] funburn: ldd shows that mythfrontend was complied with XvMC support
[07:14:00] funburn: but every time I turn it on I get "unable to initialize video"
[07:15:00] Netslayer: my custom ivtv 5.1 ebuild won't compile, any ideas? http://pastebin.com/445855
[07:15:00] Dagmar: ...the first step of which is called "coldplugging" where hotplug scans your PCI bus and looks at all the devices and then modprobes the apprpriate drivers. At some point it'll load the driver for the USB controller, and then it'll do the same thing on that
[07:15:00] subbie: Dagmar: you know what, i just CD'ed into the /lib/modules directory and i think maybe ubuntu upgraded the kernel
[07:15:00] subbie: Dagmar: which would probably mean the old ivtv modules weren't copied over
[07:15:00] Dagmar: It's likely that _somehow_ the drivers you have for the video card have either gotten desynched from the kernel (unlikely unless you just rebuilt it), or depmod's database got broken
[07:15:00] subbie: Dagmar: sounds like from your description that could be the problem
[07:16:00] Dagmar: subbie: Almost certainly if you just built things anew
[07:16:00] Dagmar: ivtv is easy to install tho
[07:16:00] subbie: yeah i just have to remeber where i put it :)
[07:16:00] subbie: probably broke my lirc for my remote too right?
[07:16:00] Dagmar: If you have the kernel source present (common requirement for building any modules basically) it's simple
[07:16:00] Dagmar: Well, if your lirc required a kernel module it will need rebuilding now
[07:16:00] subbie: yeah im pretty sure it did.
[07:16:00] Dagmar: ...same goes for the nVidia driver if you're using that.
[07:16:00] subbie: i'm not! :)
[07:17:00] Dagmar: I just scribbled a script for my machine to go and redo those things after I change kernels.
[07:17:00] Dagmar: I got tired of doing them all over again every time
[07:17:00] subbie: yeah i should probably do that, im not so good at the whole scripting thing
[07:17:00] Dagmar: Were you using ivtv 0.5.0 or 0.4.0?
[07:17:00] subbie: 0.3.8 it looks like :)
[07:18:00] Dagmar: Oooh... get 0.4.0 or 0.5.0 if you have the time
[07:18:00] subbie: this probably means i have to find that CD with my pvr250 drivers on it again too dont i
[07:18:00] Dagmar: 0.5.0 uses different names for the firmware, so you'll have to do a bit of reading to know what to rename to what, but 0.4.0 was working fine for me (within limits)
[07:19:00] Dagmar: Umm... when I grabbed 0.4.0 the docs told me where I could just go and download the firmware, actually
[07:19:00] Dagmar: There was some script that it has that extracted them from the downloadable file
[07:19:00] Dagmar: I had the CD for my pvr500 still, I just never had to touch it
[07:19:00] subbie: what would happen if i just copied the old modules over

[07:24:00] Dagmar: subbie: If you didn't change your config much, they could very well work, *provided* you didn't turn on explict module versioning
[07:24:00] subbie: i used the stock ubuntu kernel
[07:24:00] Dagmar: funburn: When I last checked, XvMC with nVidia (any version) was still hit and miss. Popular symptoms include <10fps and the OSD being in black & white
[07:24:00] subbie: oh i did change a couple things now that i think about it perhaps
[07:24:00] subbie: crap
[07:24:00] Dagmar: *Sometimes* it'll just work fine tho
[07:25:00] subbie: this probably wont work anyway because
[07:25:00] funburn: Dagmar: I get "unable to initialize video"
[07:25:00] Dagmar: subbie: Oh yeah, *don't* enable the preemptive kernel locking stuff in 2.6.x
[07:25:00] funburn: I would be happy to get hit and miss :)
[07:25:00] subbie: i think i remeber changing like 1 or 2 things and when ubuntu install the new kernel im sure they didn't bother using my config :)
[07:25:00] Dagmar: funburn: Well, gentoo (gotta love it for this) may not have built libXvMC.so, or it may have not installed the nVidia driver
[07:25:00] Dagmar: This is why I don't much care for Gentoo
[07:26:00] funburn: yeah its compiled in

[07:27:00] subbie: i use gentoo on my desktop and generally i like it
[07:27:00] funburn: yeah, gentoo is fine.
[07:27:00] Dagmar: Well, if you have a decent machine you can at least get by without XvMC for now
[07:27:00] subbie: but i think ubuntu is just great too
[07:27:00] funburn: subbie: I'm with you
[07:27:00] Dagmar: I never even bothered to enable it with my 1800+
[07:27:00] subbie: Dagmar: on a side note, i copied the modules over and it seems to work fine now!
[07:27:00] funburn: I use ubuntu for all my desktops, and gentoo for the servres
[07:27:00] Dagmar: Well...other than to say "black & white OSD... icky"
[07:27:00] funburn: I need XvMC
[07:27:00] Dagmar: subbie: Cool. You must not have changed anything they depended on

[07:28:00] Netslayer: anyone here compile ivtv?
[07:28:00] funburn: I've got an HD tuner
[07:28:00] Netslayer: i've tried on two of my boxes with vastly different archs, and they both fail from source
[07:28:00] subbie: Dagmar: yeah, i mean it was an upgrade from 2.6.12–9 to 2.6.12–10 so
[07:28:00] funburn: and I like to have stuff running in the bg
[07:28:00] subbie: netrix i managed to compile it successfully

[07:30:00] Netslayer: Dagmar, ^^
[07:31:00] Netslayer: i made a custom ebuild, and tried building it manually, same error
[07:31:00] Dagmar: Netslayer: Line 25 is the giveaway. You need to enable the Video4Linux stuff in your kernel
[07:31:00] Netslayer: it is, as modules
[07:32:00] Dagmar: Hmm...
[07:32:00] funburn: okay, so it sounds like noone has figured out a fix for this "unable to initialize video" problem right

[07:33:00] ** funburn is going to sleep **

[07:49:00] PaulWay: I've just screwed up my system by adding a SATA drive, which seems to have IRQ conflicts between the sata_sil driver and the bt878 driver for the DVB cards I have...

[09:11:00] Krazylegz: PaulWay: I saw that earlier. Is it just an IRQ conflict?
[09:11:00] Krazylegz: Not sure that I can help, but I'm curious.
[09:11:00] PaulWay: Yep.
[09:11:00] PaulWay: Unfortunately.
[09:11:00] juski: PaulWay: methinks your SATA controller is either a) a crappy chipset or b) hogging all the PCI bus (see answer a)
[09:11:00] Dagmar: You've tried moving the card to another slow?
[09:11:00] Dagmar: er slot?
[09:12:00] PaulWay: I've tried moving the cards to different slots, and it hasn't made it any better.
[09:12:00] Dagmar: Rather frequently boards have certain IRQs tied to particular slots
[09:12:00] juski: yeh I've had that – can be a pain to sort out.. then there's the old riddle of which PCI slot is capable of bus mastering
[09:12:00] PaulWay: I read a post somewhere that said that the BT878 driver has a rather low buffer size.
[09:12:00] PaulWay: And relating board order to bus order.
[09:15:00] PaulWay: I also have a theory that the SATA driver (which is either sata_nv or sata_sil) doesn't support ATA passthrough and hasn't enabled DMA on the drive.
[09:18:00] juski: is there any way to see how much bus bandwidth a device is using?
[09:18:00] PaulWay: That'd be useful...
[09:18:00] juski: without a PCI bus analyser I mean
[09:21:00] Dagmar: You could do like Intel and just speculate about the theoretical limits to the press
[09:21:00] Dagmar: 8D
[09:22:00] juski: righty-o... now got SVN mythtv on my ubuntu box. work on Project Grayhem can recommence tonight :)
[09:24:00] juski: must've just been having a bad day yesterday
[09:25:00] PaulWay: The worst thing, BTW, is that I've already extended the LVM and grown the FS over the new drive.
[09:25:00] PaulWay: Fortunately, SWMBO has approved the purchase of a PATA 200GB drive to replace the SATA.
[09:29:00] juski: ahh the chief purchasing authority ;)
[09:31:00] PaulWay: True. The one who I'm currently annoyed at, and yet wanting to watch Firefly with.
[09:31:00] PaulWay: man girlfriend
[09:31:00] PaulWay: No manual entry for girlfriend
[09:32:00] Krazylegz: PaulWay: Where are you?

[09:34:00] Krazylegz: I was going to make you an offer on the SATA drive. I need to break down and get one.
[09:34:00] Pio: mythmusic is sure slow to update a music database of 18,000 songs.. how often is it going to need to perform this update procedure?
[09:34:00] juski: dammit why can our metalwork company *never* cut prototypes right? every screwhole in this box is like 0.5mm off
[09:35:00] phoner: I'm using sata now
[09:35:00] juski: Pio: every time you add or remove music
[09:35:00] PaulWay: Krazylegz: Where are you, then?
[09:35:00] Pio: but it will only scan the new tracks right?
[09:35:00] juski: or rather every time you scan, Pio
[09:35:00] juski: I think it checks everything is still there
[09:35:00] PaulWay: juski: that could suck large amounts of alligator droppings.
[09:35:00] Pio: doh
[09:35:00] Pio: its been 15 minutes so far and im at 48% heh

[09:53:00] Pio: yeah, or have it just show file sizes in absence of length
[09:53:00] Pio: if im not mistaken it actually looks pretty easy to hack out the length checking.. so long as it doesnt flip out when it has a lot of 0:00s

[09:59:00] simon_c: THe bottom 10 or so lines of the picture is garbled for some reason.
[09:59:00] juski: PaulWay: did you look at the dbox recorder stuff? that might help

[09:59:00] PaulWay: 'jump tables' =
[09:59:00] simon_c: it looks fine in the native mpeg2 stream. The card is a Hauppage nova-t DVB card
[09:59:00] simon_c: anyone any ideas what could be the problem ?

[10:15:00] simon_c: PaulWay: THe bottom 10 lines or so are blocky on playback. They seem to eventually line up with the main image, if it stays on the same sceen. If it jumps to a new sceen, then they are all blocky again.
[10:16:00] simon_c: PaulWay: The blocks seem to be the default mpeg "block size" whatever that is. It's the same size block you see when you start playing back an mpeg file from somewhere other than a key frame.
[10:16:00] PaulWay: That's pretty bizarre. Does anything else that is in a similar format (e.g. a transcoded DVD or downloaded file) have the same problem?
[10:16:00] simon_c: PaulWay: So it seems to be about one block high.
[10:16:00] simon_c: PaulWay: No. I've got another TV card in the box (v4l based card) and that can encode in mpeg4 file.
[10:17:00] simon_c: PaulWay: And the origanal recording is fine. I'm testing on other recordings from the same card at the moment.
[10:17:00] simon_c: PaulWay: So right now, I can only say if effects one show, but I suspect it will be all shows recorded on that card.
[10:18:00] PaulWay: That's pretty bizarre. I have no idea.
[10:18:00] simon_c: PaulWay: I think the DVD rip was fine too, but I'll check that again
[10:18:00] simon_c: PaulWay: Ahh well.
[10:18:00] PaulWay: This is using Myth's internal transcoding?
[10:18:00] simon_c: Yes
[10:18:00] PaulWay: I'm just wondering how to isolate it.
[10:18:00] PaulWay: Anything in the backend logs?

[10:19:00] simon_c: PaulWay: Not that I've noticed, but I'll check again.
[10:19:00] simon_c: It doesn't seem to make a difference if I use the default resolution, for the transcoder, or change it to DVD resolution.
[10:20:00] simon_c: PaulWay: I'm wondering if it may be some missmatch between the resolution on the default mpeg2 stream, and what I'm trying to transcode it into. But I dont' know enough to figure that out.
[10:21:00] PaulWay: I don't suppose you have nuvexport installed?
[10:21:00] simon_c: I do, yes.
[10:22:00] simon_c: PaulWay: Are you sugesting exporting it with nuvexport, and see if it has the same artifacts ?
[10:22:00] PaulWay: Basically.
[10:22:00] simon_c: PaulWay: Good idea. Thanks.
[10:22:00] PaulWay: It'll use mythtranscode to convert out to the raw YUV, and then ffmpeg or whatever to convert back.
[10:23:00] PaulWay: Just trying to find other ways of doing the same thing to isolate what's causing the problem.
[10:23:00] simon_c: I'll try that, thanks.

[18:39:00] ** GreyFoxx wishes that Myth's EIT code supported the Dishnet compressed EIT data **
[18:40:00] t00m: is it possible to disable the preview movie in 'watch recordings'?
[18:40:00] GreyFoxx: it would save me a lot of hassle since I have to setup a box for my uncle that doesn't have a net connection so my only source ogf listings is an old dvb card
[18:40:00] johnny99: what wouldl that do GreyFoxx?
[18:40:00] GreyFoxx: t00m: Yes, it's configurable
[18:40:00] t00m: excellent
[18:40:00] johnny99: oh i see.
[18:40:00] GreyFoxx: JohnnyST: Allow it to grab the listings over the air
[18:40:00] GreyFoxx: inclouding ppv channel info
[18:40:00] t00m: that eats a lot of cpu, cause people tend to forget it
[18:41:00] Juski: aha! found it
[18:41:00] johnny99: wow -that'd be neat.
[18:41:00] GreyFoxx: JohnnyST: Currently I've got his mockup doing it with a shellscript heh but it's a pain, I'd rather myth's EIT supported it. I might have to look at the EIT code and patch it
[18:41:00] GreyFoxx: err johnny99 sorry
[18:42:00] johnny99: sounds like trouble.
[18:42:00] johnny99: who the hell doesn't have an internet connection? ;)
[18:42:00] GreyFoxx: johnny99: I said that too him. His only net connection is a dialup from his windows laptop
[18:42:00] johnny99: yikes!
[18:43:00] johnny99: he should get a wireless card – and just steal someone elses net...like i do.
[18:43:00] johnny99: hah
[18:43:00] GreyFoxx: BUt if I could grab the listings from the dish then it owuld be fine

[18:45:00] t00m: hm, i have to investigate
[18:46:00] johnny99: ya – do a google search – ...
[18:46:00] johnny99: within 2 hours – i was able to get into 4 encrypted networks in neighborhood...now if they're not WEP – that is a different issue...i don't know anything about.

[19:55:00] Juski: lol
[19:55:00] eiggirC: Pio: fair enough.... My patch was to mknod /dev/mixer c 14 0;chmod 660 /dev/mixer;chgrp audio /dev/mixer on boot.
[19:55:00] Juski: just wondering – you pointed out my theme had a colouring bug today.. which version are you talking about? I'm up to 1.5 now
[19:55:00] t00m: i was trying to figure out the best option for mencoder for 16:9 tv
[19:55:00] Juski: soon to be 1.6
[19:56:00] Pio: eiggirC, yeah on this box, its like in alsa, I can unmute the input i have audio ccoming in on, and it sounds beautiful, perfect.. I can record from the audio device, and it sounds perfect again.. but when myth records off the input, it suddenly becomes left-channel-only
[19:56:00] Pio: and a little crackly
[19:56:00] t00m: Juski: how do see that
[19:56:00] Juski: t00m: was it in 'list view' in mythvideo?
[19:56:00] t00m: readme doesn't say
[19:56:00] Pio: and previously I used to be able to then go into alsamixer and these 'EMU10k1 PCM Send' controls would show up (where they didnt before) and I could fiddle with them and by raising the levels of some of the sends I could get real stereo recording again
[19:57:00] t00m: Juski: tv's off
[19:57:00] t00m: and stais
[19:57:00] Juski: t00m: since 1.5 it does ;)

[19:57:00] t00m: stays
[19:57:00] Juski: ah well.. give it a go again when you have the time... it'll be 1.6 in about an hour's time
[19:57:00] Pio: anyway it sounds better in OSS.. i would really really prefer ALSA over OSS. as well, but I mean.. I dont have a choice
[19:57:00] t00m: there's also a README.txt~ file. quite dodgy

[21:01:00] Pio: maybe theres F-keys that do the same thing..

[22:38:00] Scuzzle: The two issues I have at the moment, are 1) Some streams crash the frontend, but I've found a fix in SVN for that (I think) and 2) Playback stops and you can see a 'player timeout' if you're watching the console output of mythfrontend.
[22:38:00] poop: Is svn better for firewire?
