[00:00:00] k-man_: i get this error
[00:00:00] k-man_: libdvdread: Can't open file VIDEO_TS.IFO.
[00:00:00] k-man_: Can't open VMG info!
[00:00:00] k-man_: any ideas why?
[00:00:00] The_Tick: can you watch it on any other dvd players?
[00:01:00] k-man_: just testing that
[00:01:00] k-man_: no
[00:01:00] k-man_: don't think so
[00:01:00] The_Tick: probably why
[00:01:00] k-man_: whats a good player to test it with?
[00:01:00] The_Tick: i think myth uses mplayer
[00:02:00] The_Tick: try vlc
[00:02:00] The_Tick: also might try another computer if you have one
[00:02:00] k-man_: yeah
[00:02:00] The_Tick: or a box top dvd player
[00:02:00] k-man_: i just tryed vlc
[00:02:00] k-man_: no go
[00:02:00] k-man_: box top?
[00:02:00] The_Tick: console
[00:02:00] The_Tick: the things most "normal" people use
[00:02:00] k-man_: does not compute ;)
[00:02:00] The_Tick: just see if it can be read first
[00:02:00] k-man_: oh
[00:02:00] k-man_: it can be read
[00:03:00] k-man_: i have watched it a number of times
[00:03:00] The_Tick: doesn't matter
[00:03:00] The_Tick: you're having the problem now
[00:03:00] The_Tick: could be a dvd drive going bum, or a scratched disc
[00:03:00] The_Tick: all sorts of weirdness you need to check i suppose
[00:03:00] k-man_: i suppose
[00:04:00] The_Tick: may not be it, but worth checking
[00:04:00] k-man_: but i have tested this with multiple dvds
[00:04:00] k-man_: and none of them work
[00:04:00] The_Tick: so no dvd works in your current dvd player
[00:04:00] The_Tick: and you know they are all good dvds
[00:04:00] The_Tick: you've tried multiple software titles
[00:04:00] The_Tick: so what's left to test? ;)
[00:04:00] k-man_: yes
[00:04:00] k-man_: my hardware
[00:04:00] The_Tick: aye
[00:05:00] k-man_: it could by my dvd drive or the dvd software
[00:05:00] The_Tick: or "dust on the lens"
[00:05:00] k-man_: The_Tick, i can read cd's and dvd roms ok
[00:11:00] dhofstra_: does he have the proper decryption libraries installed to play a DVD?
[00:11:00] k-man_: dhofstra_, well... i think so
[00:11:00] k-man_: how do i check?
[00:11:00] dhofstra_: you would've had to install them yourself
[00:12:00] k-man_: hmmm
[00:12:00] k-man_: not just an apt-get?
[00:12:00] k-man_: i think i may have

[00:38:00] Krazylegz: xris has me using Wikipedia now.
[00:39:00] Krazylegz: I still don't always believe it, but I use it.
[00:39:00] xris: it's handy for most info.
[00:40:00] xris: and the more you use it, the more machines they order from us, so you're somehow contributing to my and kormoc's paychecks. :)
[00:40:00] Krazylegz: Haha.
[00:40:00] Krazylegz: I suppose I can use it, then. As long as it's somehow helping MythTV.
[00:41:00] xris: heh
[00:43:00] dhofstra_: I haven't ran across too many incorrect things there. I like it alot
[00:44:00] Krazylegz: mchou and I were just being picky, I think. I have seen some problems, but like xris said, it's good for the most part.
[00:44:00] dhofstra_: I actually like the 'today in history' section. learned about spitballs in baseball the other day
[00:44:00] Krazylegz: Sometimes I don't care if I get incorrect information, as long as I get it quickly. :-)

[00:46:00] The_Tick: wheeee
[00:46:00] The_Tick: how does one get the mythfrontend to play mp3s?
[00:46:00] The_Tick: dude says ogg plays fine, but he's trying to import his mp3s and it doesn't recognize them
[00:47:00] kormoc: The_Tick, mythmusic
[00:47:00] Krazylegz: 1. Put them in your music directory.
[00:47:00] The_Tick: he's done that
[00:47:00] Krazylegz: Oh.
[00:47:00] The_Tick: and he has mythmusic installed
[00:48:00] The_Tick: it should just pick up mp3?
[00:48:00] kormoc: in theory
[00:49:00] The_Tick: cool, we'll look at it more
[00:49:00] The_Tick: thanks :)

[01:13:00] xris: thechris: in answer to your earlier question, no, mythtv can't just scan for analog cable/tv channels.. mythtv is not "a tv viewer program," it's a DVR, and thus needs *something* to give it scheduling info.

[01:22:00] JabbaTheBobo: Hey folks, was wondering if I can resize and reposition the frontend from outside of mythtv. Do I need to run it in a window to do this? My plan is to have a key combo that shrinks the mythtv window and pops up my browser next to it. Sound doable?
[01:23:00] MrSpiffy: hmm
[01:24:00] MrSpiffy: was wondering if I can resize and reposition the frontend from outside of mythtv :
[01:24:00] MrSpiffy: nope
[01:24:00] MrSpiffy: tried that
[01:24:00] MrSpiffy: BUT
[01:24:00] MrSpiffy: I can grab the window and move it
[01:27:00] JabbaTheBobo: hmmm... if its running in a window does that window have some property that makes it un-resizable?
[01:27:00] MrSpiffy: maybe you can write a script that closes mythfrontend, changes the window size and position settings in the DB, then re-opens it, then launches your browser with specified geometry
[01:28:00] MrSpiffy: sounds like a lot of work to me
[01:28:00] JabbaTheBobo: Yah it's a bit clumsy
[01:28:00] MrSpiffy: don't forget that every time the size/position is changed it re-scales all the theme images
[01:28:00] JabbaTheBobo: Arg yah,
[01:28:00] MrSpiffy: which is probably why you can't resize it on the desktop

[05:35:00] FairWtns: GreyFoxx did you say you used KDevelop?
[05:35:00] fiveiron_: hmmm... anyone know what package i should apt-get in debian if i want qt3?
[05:35:00] GreyFoxx: I don't like IDE's.
[05:35:00] GreyFoxx: I use VI/ViM
[05:36:00] GreyFoxx: Gecko uses KDevelop I think
[05:36:00] FairWtns: I'm going to have to get a book on Vi and Emacs. People keep touting it and such. I love a full-featured program, and I'm an old hat from the DOS day, but to me an IDE usually makes me focus on code.
[05:38:00] GreyFoxx: I don't see it making a lick of difference, except for any sort of auto syntax features
[05:38:00] tzanger: I am a fan of the vi, but I use kate too
[05:39:00] GreyFoxx: To me, a text editor with syntax highlighting , in a unix environment is perfect.t And vim+ctags does the job fast and well
[05:39:00] FairWtns: GreyFoxx:It saves a lot of time of what I call "mind-wasters", like having the methods of a class in a pane so I can easily see what arguments I need and in what format w/o constantly opening/switching windows.
[05:40:00] GreyFoxx: Fair It's not like you have to run vi fullscreen :) You can split screen, have multiple terminals, use ctags to jump directly to teh routine and verify if need and one more keystroke pops you back to where you were
[05:41:00] FairWtns: I know what I want my code to *do*, when I have to worry about to *say* it, then I'm wasting time. How to *do* it, is where the art comes in to play. If that makes any sense.
[05:41:00] GreyFoxx: But, I do see the use in a auto syntax type of system if only to give suggestions as you type
[05:42:00] FairWtns: GreyFoxx:I will admit my complete and utter ignorance of vi/ctags. I've just added "get books on Vi/Emacs" to my list. Can't be ignorant forever. :)
[05:42:00] GreyFoxx: If anything, no matter what editor you prefer most of the time, a working knowledge of VI is a good thing.
[05:42:00] FairWtns: GreyFoxx:Yes, like when I begin typing a method, and the IDE lists the arguments beneath my typing, that is usually very useful.

[14:53:00] Tommck: that has to do with whatever program you're using to watch the videos

[14:53:00] k-man_: i believe

[16:12:00] rah: hmm
[16:12:00] Tommck: rah – not when you slam 17 lines of shit in the middle of other people's conversation
[16:12:00] Tommck: that's the point
[16:12:00] rah: are you not capable of participating in an IRC conversation when there is another one going on?

[16:15:00] Filip^: If anyone is interested, on http://www.lacarte.org/online/irc/mircrulz.html there is a guideline for pasting code that says: "Generally, you will not have much luck if you paste more than 5–10 words of code to the channel. People are usually not much interested in puzzling out more than that amount in this environment. "
[16:16:00] Tommck: Krazylegz – yeah, you were
[16:16:00] rah: Krazylegz: no, you were being silly
[16:16:00] Krazylegz: Heh. Well, that gives me something to consider.
[16:16:00] Tommck: *gasp* you mean other people actually have manners too?  :)
[16:17:00] Tommck: thanks for the info Filip^
[16:17:00] rah: Filip^: what I pasted was 5 lines
[16:17:00] Krazylegz: There's like, IRC rules and guidelines. Who would have thought?
[16:17:00] Tommck: 5-=>17
[16:17:00] Beirdo: which is about 5 lines too many
[16:17:00] Krazylegz: That guideline doesn't say anything about lines.
[16:17:00] rah: 1 line of code != 1 ascii 10
[16:17:00] Beirdo: for large pastes use a damn pastebin
[16:17:00] ** Tommck somehow thinks that the "lines" was not meaning how many carriage returns are in the text **
[16:18:00] rah: Beirdo: I do
[16:18:00] Beirdo: you didn't
[16:18:00] Filip^: EFNETs netiqette speaks of 2–3 lines in http://rafb.net/efnet_cpp/rules/#nopaste
[16:18:00] rah: it wasn't a large paste
[16:18:00] rah: it was 5 lines
[16:18:00] Beirdo: now stop arguing, and let the channel get back to some peace
[16:18:00] Tommck: lol
[16:18:00] Tommck: it wasn't a large paste... just 17 lines of wrapped text... no big deal
[16:18:00] Krazylegz: Careful, or Beirdo will MAKE peace, by making us all go outside for 4 hours. :-)
[16:19:00] ** rah boggles **

[23:22:00] ** riddlebox wishes he could burn his shows **
[23:24:00] Randall64: Did you check the pvr-350 box in the setup?

[23:28:00] dmz: ye
[23:28:00] dmz: yes
[23:28:00] dmz: output works
[23:28:00] dmz: just doesn't fit on the screen
[23:29:00] dmz: except for tv/movies/etc, those appear to fit ok
[23:29:00] jonK: it is too big for the screen?
[23:29:00] dmz: yeah
[23:29:00] dmz: the menus only
[23:29:00] jonK: overscan, you're probably getting it on the shows as well, just not as big an issue
[23:32:00] dmz: so what does that mean?
[23:32:00] adante (n=adante@203-166-252-49.dyn.iinet.net.au) Quit (Read error: 113 (No route to host))
[23:32:00] adante_ is now known as adante
[23:34:00] jonK: it means you use the mythsetup screens to adjust overscan percentage and GUI size
[23:34:00] dmz: would i use a negative % then to shrink it?
[23:42:00] dmz: ok another question...i just put in a new disk and moved all my data to it (and made the new disk the same as my old mountpoint, so paths are the same). now the mythbackend can't connect to the database but I can manually. any suggestions here?
[23:50:00] dmz: hmmm. it is start-stop-daemon...if i su – mythtv and start manually it works...wierd
