[01:04:00] amax: hehe, no wonder,... this is the mythtv channel ;)

[01:12:00] amax: rgr :)
[01:12:00] amax: GreyFoxx: do you have a multi-computer mythtv set up?
[01:13:00] GreyFoxx: yes. 1 MediaMVP, 2 Diskless frontends, and 1 Backend/Frontend combo
[01:14:00] amax: how do you set up mysql... i am trying to have the backend on a computer and access it from two others, but I havent been able to figure out how to do it. I basically can't connect to mysql remotely
[01:15:00] GreyFoxx: grant all on mythconverg.* to 'mythtv'@'IPHERE' identified by 'mythtv';
[01:15:00] GreyFoxx: as the root mysql user
[01:15:00] GreyFoxx: obviously fill in IPHERE with the IP of what you are giving access too
[01:15:00] amax: yes, i did that, but mysql is only listening on 127.0.0.1
[01:15:00] GreyFoxx: look for my.cnf and change that :)
[01:15:00] GreyFoxx: it likely has a bind-address set to localhost
[01:16:00] amax: i changed, in my.cnf, the bind-address from 127.0.0.1 to 192.168.x.x, but when I did that, the backend wasnt able to connect any more!
[01:16:00] GreyFoxx: and with that I'[m outta here. got a kid to go pickup fromher granmothers
[01:16:00] amax: i guess I have to check the IP i used when I set it up... maybe it had 127.0.0.1 as the server ip...
[01:16:00] GreyFoxx: amax: Then remove the bind-address altogether or config the backend to use the new ip
[01:16:00] amax: k, thanks GreyFoxx will try those things
[01:17:00] GreyFoxx: removing bind-address altogether should make it bind to all IPs/interfaces
[01:17:00] amax: rgr GreyFoxx, thanks!

[01:38:00] Agrajag-: hey dhofstra that theme looks cool (haven't actually tried it yet, at work), but in the screenie on the website, it's got a down arrow thing by the W on Weather – is that normal?
[01:38:00] dhofstra: yeah
[01:38:00] dhofstra: that is part of Titivillus
[01:38:00] Agrajag-: the only thing i didn't like about the MythCenter theme was that the text/menus didn't take up much of the screen at all
[01:38:00] Agrajag-: and how they scroll when there's plenty of space not to scroll
[01:38:00] dhofstra: when you have more than 7 plugins, you get an arrow
[01:38:00] dhofstra: Agrajag: exactly why I made Myxer
[01:39:00] Agrajag-: ok.. but is that arrow in the right place?
[01:39:00] dhofstra: at least thats how it looks on my computer monitor, it might be lower on my television
[01:40:00] dhofstra: same as where Titivillus puts it.. I didnt change all that much
[01:40:00] Agrajag-: ah ok
[01:40:00] Roots^ (~NNSCRIPT@host-84-9-196-89.bulldogdsl.com) has joined #mythtv-users
[01:40:00] Agrajag-: i've had a problem with some themes, the word "Recordings" often just doesn't show
[01:40:00] Agrajag-: so i get menus like "Watch", "Schedule" ...
[01:40:00] dhofstra: yeah, I get that on my PC
[01:41:00] Agrajag-: any idea why?
[01:41:00] Agrajag-: i guess it's to do with the length of the menu
[01:41:00] dhofstra: you can change that easily in one of the xmls it is the 'alternate text' lemme check
[01:41:00] Agrajag-: but can't figure out how to fix it
[01:41:00] cortezdapimp (~cortez-ir@pool-70-20-30-98.bstnma.fios.verizon.net) Quit ()
[01:42:00] dhofstra: oh, well, we could try a couple of things... make the font smaller in the theme.xml or edit the 'alternate text' in the xml files..
[01:42:00] dhofstra: I suppose you should be at 100dpi to be sure, I'd have to check if my pc downstairs limits the menu names
[01:43:00] Agrajag-: where do you set the dpi?
[01:43:00] Agrajag-: yeah this happens on my PC frontend, but not my tv one
[01:43:00] dhofstra: Agrajag in your xorg.conf you need to specify the 'DisplaySize' variable in mm for your screen size
[01:44:00] Agrajag-: i use xfree86 but ok
[01:44:00] dhofstra: I usually plug away at the sizes until I get 100dpi by issuing xdpyinfo | grep "resolution"
[01:44:00] Agrajag-: heh ok
[01:45:00] dhofstra: but read somewhere today that you can take your actual mm size of horizontal and vertical DisplaySize and divide by 25.4
[01:45:00] GeckoFiend: Agrajag- what resolution?
[01:46:00] Agrajag-: 1280x1024
[01:46:00] dhofstra: Agrajag: for instance in the 'Monitor' section of my XF86Config-4, I have DisplaySize 292 241 which yeilds 89 dpi
[01:46:00] dhofstra: (this is my backend, so I dont adhere to the 100dpi thingy
[01:46:00] Agrajag-: ok
[01:46:00] GeckoFiend: DisplaySize 325 260
[01:47:00] GeckoFiend: that'll give you 100dpi at 1280x1024
[01:47:00] ** GeckoFiend that's what my dev box runs at **
[01:47:00] Agrajag-: great. i assume the actual physical size of the monitor doesn't affect that?
[01:48:00] dhofstra: DisplaySize 292 241 is what my widescreen HDTV is using and gets 100dpi
[01:48:00] GeckoFiend: Agrajag- nope. you basicly need to lie to it
[01:48:00] dhofstra: it is 57 inches, and 292 is nowhere near the actual size in mm

[01:49:00] GeckoFiend: DisplaySize 325 182 is hwat I use on my HD... What resolution you running on your HD Dave?
[01:49:00] dhofstra: you only need to logout/login for the change to take effect
[01:49:00] Agrajag-: yep
[01:49:00] dhofstra: I am running Jarrods in540p
[01:49:00] GeckoFiend: ahhh
[01:50:00] GeckoFiend: I run 720p on mine

[01:50:00] Agrajag-: so that line should look exactly like "DisplaySize 325 260" in the Monitor section yeah?
[01:50:00] dhofstra: my tv is first gen ... no 720p like you, you lucky bastard!
[01:50:00] dhofstra: yes

[02:03:00] GreyFoxx: in fact I'm sure of it

[03:18:00] jams: or just use rm

[03:19:00] kgbudz: and do a comm and filter out the unused files

[03:20:00] kgbudz: maybe about 50gb worth
[03:21:00] Agrajag-: ah k. or you could just take the myth.rebuilddatabase.pl script, because it already figures out what's not in the db, and just make it delete them

[13:15:00] LLyric: No difference in quality, if you can get it working, the 150 might even be a little *better* quality

[23:55:00] Leebier: is there somethign special i need to do to turn on automatical commercial flagging? i thought i had done it but my programs aren't getting flagged
[23:56:00] Leebier: "default auto commerical flagging setting" is checked
[23:56:00] Ashlar: Leebier: check the recording schedule, you need to change it for recording schedules that were set up before you made comm flagging the default
[23:56:00] Leebier: oh, hmm
[23:57:00] Leebier: i imported my schedules from my previous install, i wonder why that didn't keep
[23:57:00] m4lu7: j-rod, i brought whole unit into my bedroom and hooked up to standard CRT tv, and everything looks great.
[23:57:00] m4lu7: i had a feeling it was somthing about my HD tv that was going nutty.
[23:57:00] Leebier: crap, so i've got to do this for every show?
[23:58:00] Ashlar: Leebier: for everyone that you want to be automagically commflagged, yah
[23:58:00] Leebier: but the default for new schedules will be to commflag?
[23:58:00] Ashlar: or you could sql-foo it, but that's for advanced users ;)
[23:58:00] Ashlar: try it.. set up a new recording to confirm
[23:59:00] Leebier: and i assume "default auto commerical flagging setting" is what used to be called "automatically flag commercials" in .16?

[23:59:00] Ashlar: more or less.. whatever you set up there is the default applied to new recording schedules
[23:59:00] Leebier: makes sense
[23:59:00] Leebier: just not a very intuitive name there :)
