[00:41:00] | mchou: | bobc: use the source, bobc :) |
[00:42:00] | mchou: | that's why we use open source. If something is borked we fix it. |

[00:43:00] | mchou: | heh, so do I, and I've programmed for 10+ yrs. |
[00:43:00] | kormoc: | bobc, have you tried posting to the mailing list? |

[00:44:00] | mchou: | bobc: you need to appeal to axel for help :) |
[00:44:00] | bobc: | no response other than two others on the ivtv list who also had the problem |

[00:45:00] | bobc: | mchou: you're using the remote with your 150? |
[00:45:00] | mchou: | not at this time. using ir kb. |
[00:45:00] | bobc: | but you did previously without problem? |
[00:46:00] | mchou: | bobc: quite frankly I'm not in a hurry to use the irblaster. |
[00:46:00] | bobc: | irblaster is just the transmitter portion, right? |
[00:46:00] | mchou: | considering ivtv 3.4.o has just worked (in full glory) with 150 :) |
[00:47:00] | bobc: | ? |
[00:47:00] | mchou: | bobc: when I say irlaster in this context I referring to both rx and tx. |
[00:48:00] | bobc: | ivtv has worked great for me for the tuner or remote, just not for the tuner and remote together |
[00:48:00] | mchou: | ivtv 3.4o works now on my system bueatifully. proior versions of ivtv were at best iffy. |
[00:49:00] | mchou: | I think axel's patches really fixed some things. |
[00:50:00] | bobc: | maybe I'll try with 3.4o |
[00:51:00] | mchou: | bobc: go build your own serial or usb irblaster for $15 :) |

[01:43:00] | Esotericisms: | I seem to be having an issue with nuvexport ... |
[01:43:00] | bgravato: | hi! I have a plextor usb with remote, I've got some doubts regarding the remote... it is detected has a usb keyboard/mouse. when I press the remote keys it acts like a keyboard/mouse, but the shortcuts aren't equivalent to the ones in mythtv... any suggestion? thanks |
[01:44:00] | bgravato: | Esotericisms: what issue? |
[01:44:00] | Esotericisms: | it just displays a line like this '**** of 0 frames 0.0 fps' (that is not exactly) |

[01:44:00] | Esotericisms: | but I never get a result |

[01:44:00] | bgravato: | what a while |
[01:45:00] | Esotericisms: | I have let it run for like 2+ hours for a 20 minute recording .. |

[01:45:00] | Beirdo: | what frame number is it up to? |
[01:46:00] | Esotericisms: | 15000+ |

[01:46:00] | Esotericisms: | yeah |
[01:46:00] | Beirdo: | now, it SHOULD be able to give you a frame count there, but it's not all THAT important |
[01:46:00] | bgravato: | Esotericisms: you're right the same happens to me it doesn't show the total number of frames, but de fps shows a few time after starting so I usually do some manual calculations |
[01:47:00] | bgravato: | if you run with two passes after the first one you'll know how much frames it is :P |

[08:23:00] | xris: | I can fit WAY more stuff on a dvd if I use xvid. |

[08:24:00] | hachi: | but if you hand it to your mum, can she play it? |
[08:24:00] | mchou: | hachi: obviously not. |
[08:25:00] | mchou: | she would need xvid :) |
[08:25:00] | xris: | hachi: my parents don't care about tv. |
[08:25:00] | mchou: | use some othe dvd authoring package like xris suggested if you want a generic DVD. |
[08:26:00] | xris: | nuv2disk supposedly works well |
[08:28:00] | tuxristo: | oh i have tried them all :) |
[08:29:00] | tuxristo: | i don't like nuv2disk; – do like nuvexport, dvdstyler – i did like mythtvburn A LOT when i had it working, but it had some pretty shoddy code |
[08:30:00] | tuxristo: | s/like mythtvburn/liked mythtvburn |
[08:30:00] | hachi: | all I've ever done is use avidemux to convert the nuv stream to an avi |
[08:31:00] | tuxristo: | i have done the 100% manual way as well – god it's a lot of work to build menus, etc |
[08:32:00] | tuxristo: | xris, you're right that it just eats dvds though |
[08:33:00] | xris: | tuxristo: anyway, I've thought about it, but other people seemed to have done their own bit for it. |
[08:33:00] | tuxristo: | fair enough |
[08:33:00] | xris: | my goal is eventually to have nuvexport just run automatically and put the files into a mythvideo folder. other scripts could then be used to build the dvd's from there. |
[08:34:00] | xris: | I personally think it'd be much cooler to have a "build dvd" script that you could point at a directory or collection of files and get a dvd from. |
[08:34:00] | tuxristo: | my goal is to make "a palylist" in mythfrontend, and to be able to hit "burn this playlist" :) somehow i will make it happen :) |
[08:35:00] | xris: | tuxristo: my thoughts along that line, too. but from within mythvideo, not mythtv |
[08:36:00] | tuxristo: | that's a good idea, why not both |
[08:36:00] | xris: | one is much less work for me. :) |
[08:36:00] | xris: | integrating nuvexport into mythtv would be a good idea, though. I just need to actually FINISH nuvexport to a point I'm comfortable with it. |
[08:36:00] | xris: | that, and I have way too many projects to deal with. |
[08:37:00] | tuxristo: | yeah, same here, i have a few websites that need attention . . . badly |

[09:33:00] | tuxristo: | i have an idea, an option to set a show to automatically expire, at the end of playback; it kind of even makes some sense. Once i have seen a show, i don't wanna delete it, per se, but i also usually don't care if something overwrites it or expires it. |
[09:34:00] | SlicerDicer-: | tuxristo: auto-expire makes things delete once they finish? |
[09:36:00] | tuxristo: | auto-expire makes things delete when hard rive space is running low |

[09:37:00] | tuxristo: | but the shows need to be marked as "allow auto-expire" otherwise they don't get tdeleted |

[18:32:00] | TV_Dunce: | i don't understand a lot of it |

[18:33:00] | TV_Dunce: | would that be a file somewhere ? |

[18:56:00] | xris: | kgbudz: you install mythtv on another box, and make sure all backends are configured with real IP's (not 127.0.0.1) |
[18:56:00] | kgbudz: | done |
[18:56:00] | rtsai1111: | TV_Dunce: if your goal is to run MythTV, try KnoppMyth. If your goal is to learn Linux, well then, happy googling :P |
[18:56:00] | rtsai1111: | dhofstra: yes, but painfully :) [at least for me] |
[18:57:00] | dhofstra: | damn |
[18:57:00] | rtsai1111: | I used mysql to much with my channel table |
[18:57:00] | rtsai1111: | I'm not sure exactly what *needs* to be done, but I copied over all my xmltvid's from the old v4l channels to the new DVB channels |
[18:57:00] | rtsai1111: | then I had to rename all my stored recordings to match the new channel numbering scheme |
[18:57:00] | TV_Dunce: | i have mythtv installed |
[18:57:00] | TV_Dunce: | it runs |
[18:57:00] | dhofstra: | whoa |
[18:57:00] | rtsai1111: | [and fix up chanids in the recorded table database] |
[18:58:00] | TV_Dunce: | it just won't use any ip that i put in the setup |
[18:58:00] | TV_Dunce: | it rejects them all |
[18:58:00] | rtsai1111: | I think if you can just change chanids, it's probably simpler, but I think they're a "key" column so maybe they can't be changed? |
[18:58:00] | rtsai1111: | if you don't have much (or any) recorded content, it might be simpler to re-install, rather than migrate from a v4l system |
[18:59:00] | dhofstra: | rtsai1111 what about just copying the xmltvid field from the zap2it channels into the empty field from the dvb scan? |
[18:59:00] | rtsai1111: | otherwise, I think you'll have to do some sql-hacking. I don't think there's yet an easy way for people to migrate their v4l-hd-3000 systems to dvb, interms of the mythtv database and existing recordings |
[19:00:00] | rtsai1111: | the problem is you'll have lots of duplicate channels – the old ones, and the new ones. |
[19:00:00] | rtsai1111: | if that doesn't bother you, then you're probably done |
[19:00:00] | rtsai1111: | if you want to clean up all the old channels, then you'll have to muck around |
[19:00:00] | dhofstra: | I am not migrating, making a new system on a new hard drive |
[19:00:00] | rtsai1111: | ah |
[19:01:00] | rtsai1111: | then you have the problem of figuring out the xmltvid's for those channels, since you have nothing to copy them from (or do you?) |
[19:01:00] | dhofstra: | I'll try the xmlid thingy and let you know... |
[19:01:00] | rtsai1111: | but I think essentially once you get the xmltvid thing associated with the dvb channels, then you're good to go as far as zap2it is concerned |
[19:01:00] | TV_Dunce: | also, i cannot make it scan for channesl |
[19:02:00] | TV_Dunce: | the cursor will NOT go there |
[19:02:00] | TV_Dunce: | i'm on the scan for channel page now --- |

[19:32:00] | TV_Dunce: | i've set up the zapit |

[19:34:00] | rtsai1111: | then you should be set |

[23:50:00] | _swarn_: | I am having an issue with running mythtvsetup. It does not allow me to select "Yes, delete..... " options. I have found on the net that you can get by this by pressing ctrl+eneter. This does get e past the two screns and then drops me back to a prompt. Any suggestions ? I have recreated the database several times with no improvments. Thanks |
